    hair loss started

Surgery March 11...and 3 months to the day, my hair started filling my brushes and combs. I wash my hair and it looks like I'm pulling out a mouse out of the strainer/drain. I expected to loose some, but it was a shocker. But, as of today--I don't straighten my hair, avoiding the dryer, and eat even more protein. And I did get protein and vitamins in prior this, but I am waiting for the golden time the "fall out" slows down! I know it will....I know it will....I know it will.
  3. 3 Month Stall here. And to compound the nuisance, my hair has started to fall out-- after I wash my hair it looks like I'm pulling out a "mouse" out of the drain. So right now, not too proud. BUT still-I feel better in my clothes and I pray my hair will come back in. I figure-or hope-that everything will get back to a semblance of normality. Hope you get your weight loss kick-started again!

    3 meals help

I'm almost 3 months out, but I remember vividly my first weeks of post op. This may not help you, except to let you know-you are not alone. I had a hard time with getting in protein, water, and or meals. I was encouraged to attempt any allowable full liquid every 2 hours. My protein drinks were considered fluids not a meal. I physically could not take in but sips. And I was not getting in but 300-350 calories either. I tolerated liquid yogurt w unflavored (Unjury) protein, I could tolerate Nectar protein and would add some unflavored protein to that. My Nut "Full liquid die"t for the second week was 3 meals ( 2-4 ounces, I could not get more than 1.5 ounces in) Protein requirement at 2 week-at minimum 40 grams. Minimum 48 ounces liquids, Starting w thin liquids and advancing. Doing great now-and I am telling you--IT gets better! Hang in there-stay hydrated and keep trying things until you find some food you like.
  6. Like CarrieP,It doesn't take much to get that full feeling. Sleeved in March. I feel comfortable with 2- 3 ounces (volume). If I try to eat anymore--I get that uncomfortable "in the throat-burpy feeling" too. A quarter of a sandwich is almost too much.

    Calling All Sixties!

Greetings- 61 here. Sleeved March 11. I appreciate this thread and connecting with other 60's or close to 60s! Slow looser but was a low BMI.
  8. Sleeved 3/11. OH----I had back pain-low backache! My pain started about the 4th day postop. A heating pad helped me. I could tell a difference within hours. I would at least be able to do my walking. BUT, when I was sitting-I had that heating pad on.

    Question for all.

As proudgrammy--WATER. I am 2.5 months postop. I can't get the 64. I had a problem prior with water and it remains a problem. Also, forgetting not to drink 30 minutes before and after remains a problem. As far as chewing-I was a fast eater before. I make a conscious effort to chew-chew-chew. After the post-meal discomfort from not chewing, I learned.
  10. I should add that my weight started coming on when I hit 53 then I started attempting MRC, HCG, Nutri Systems, Jenny Craig, Optifast, and Weight Watchers (several times). Each attempt was soon followed with weight gain. But no more.
  11. I was sleeved in March My BMI was 31. I had several health issues-blood pressure, cholesterol, bad knees, pre diabetic. Of course my insurance did not pay. But, after 8 years of yo-yo dieting, I chose the sleeve. My weight loss is slower than the higher BMIs. In 2 months-my BMI is 26. I lack 15 pounds to goal. I am off my cholesterol meds, reduced my B/P medications. I feel more in control of my health and exercise does not bother my joints like before. BUT, it is a major surgery and you need to consider all risks. BTW-I am a 61 year old working nurse.
  12. I'm 9 weeks out. I can eat 2-3 ounces pretty easily. I ate a whole egg this week-very slowly. As 921Amy stated-it depends on how dense the food is. When I was given the OK to eat "real food" I couldn't get more than 2 bites down. I still have problems with steak or hamburger. And I am scared to try a lot of things. BUT it does get better!
  13. With everyone on this thread! 9 weeks out stalled and gained 2 pounds. Going back to liquids!
  14. I was on a "soft diet." Chicken, canned tuna, fish etc. Vegetables that could "smash" easily. No raw vegetables or tough meat. And I was taking in about 2 ounces for each meal.

    Major Cramps and pain

Unfortunately, no words of wisdom--just empathy. I am 6 weeks out and was told to up my protein and start eating the regular diet. Moved from soft to regular (2 ounces) and upped protein---one or both are giving me major cramps and diarrhea. Sipping Gatorade and when I finally get thru this--going back to soft diet.
