    Surgery 11/6

    I went for my one week post op and the doctor said I was ok to go from clear liquids at 9 days (surgery was 11/2). I have stuck to super high protein foods and still protein shakes. I think the hummus is a good choice but the mashed only work if ou are adding protein powder

    I told very few people for the same reason. I got the reaction "you are not too big". It is your choice and likely the eight one so don't tell too many people and stick to your guns. It is your life and you only get one!

    The docs told me it is ok once the post op swelling goes down. It is not about absorption, it is the "stuck" feeling early on.

    November Sleevesters?

    November 2nd, last Friday. I get to o to puréed food after this weekend but have had no issues. sterile strips are off, off all pain meds except Percocet at night so I don't wake up if I roll on my stomach. 12 pounds down from surgery weight. No issues at all, walked 3 miles today. Got in all proteins and should get ll water in too. So far this is the best thing I have every done.

    Anyone Else Going Through This?

    I did the same. I gained about 16 pounds in the months before the surgery. I lost 12 pounds on the pre op liquids and now 4 days post op I am tolerating all things well. Off the pain meds, not hungry and down another 8 pounds. I am not saying the food smells in the house are not great but the liquids, soups and yogurts are keeping me full and I don't want to tempt fate after the surgery. You will lose so stop beating yourself up and start focusing on the little things, can you taste it but not eat it all? If you eat it today you still won't taste it tomorrow.... What is the post surgery plan? It will be fine just start easing into it all slowly!
  7. I was moved a few days because of Sandy but had surgery on Friday. I am doing great. Down a total of 20 pounds since pre-op and just discovered a heating pad helps a LOT with the gas and bloating! Otherwise, no complaints switching to full liquids today and fell good minus a little energy and still some soreness and bloating.

    Ugh...

    I had mine on Friday and am 20lbs down. Just took my first dose of Percocet for the day and have been great. The first 24 hours were no fun but now I am amazed by how easy recovery is so I keep reminding myself to take it easy. Still sore and bloated but really so very manageable. This will be a great year, I can feel it.

    How Do You Sip?

    I just drink one mouthful from a normal bottle and know how many bottles I drink. I want to feel as normal as I can. I am 3 days out and feeling pretty great.

    Today I woke up and the gas is much better. Just drank a whole muscle milk and about 8 oz of water in two hours.

    Yes I got home yesterday. Start full liquids tomorrow. Really tired but already off pain meds except at night!

    I was cancelled for tomorrow. I am so upset. Now I am stuck on pre-op liquids and have no clue when they can reschedule me. Replanning all of this is awful!

    Oct. 30 Vsg Surgery

    I am also October 30th and am on day 4 of pre-op liquids. I am getting nervous. I am drinking broth, tea with skim milk and Splenda, Campbell's soup on the go, beef broth and pure protein shakes. I don't crave sweet as much as salty so the soups really help. I am still nervous but resolved to do this. I am hoping for an easy recovery mainly, I feel like once I get back to "normal" I will be good at maintaining, I am just nervous about the itst 8 weeks post op, especially with work and the holidays.
