If this isn't a place of kindred spirits where I can let off a little steam about being sick of eating gross mushy foods, then someone please point me to that place. I thought that was here among people who get it, because it's certainly not among my friends who thought I could just puree a chicken thigh, or that I would just be eating salad right out of surgery. There is so much tough love here and that's awesome for people who respond to it. Not everyone does. A little corrective action is necessary. I see so much berating and brow beating though. *shrug * I guess if that's your way that's what the ignore list is for. When you're on week three of chicken broth and nasty Protein you earn the right to say you're sick of eating that.

Is it possible to start stalling in first 2 weeks? Concerned
TheCurvyJones replied to Joy0125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal! -
If you have a restaurant around that does grilled or baked chicken (El Pollo Loco, KFC) that's always a good option. Your grocery store deli. You can buy Rotisserie roasted chicken by the piece. Hardee's will make any burger a lowcarb burger, wrapped in lettuce. You could get a turkey burger. Subway will make any sandwich a salad. Someone already mentioned chili from Wendy's, but you can also get burgers and chicken sandwiches wrapped in lettuce. Just tell them to leave off the bread.

The stress of having surgery plus changes in your diet plus rapid weight loss will probably mean the gift of a jacked up cycle for a while. Mine came early. Precious. What I wanted to deal with week one post op was that wench Moms Nature.

What Are Your Thoughts About Healthy Frozen Meals?
TheCurvyJones replied to TheNEWME!'s topic in Food and Nutrition
I used to buy Lean Cuisines, the ones with just meat and veggie. The broccoli beef I think was pretty good., -
I need to get some fiber into my diet. This is my first week post op and uh..it's been difficult.

3week full liqud post op diet
TheCurvyJones replied to Goodnurseg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No problem! I would avoid anything super sweet and frothy and full of cream like Starbucks. Confirm with them but I am guessing that's what they mean. -
Did anyone else fail the 2 week pre-op diet...

This would not be a reason to convert to an open surgery. Only if you had multiple previous surgeries and lots of scar tissue. -
3week full liqud post op diet
TheCurvyJones replied to Goodnurseg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you're only on liquids, that seems fine to me. It's no sugar added so you're already cutting down on sugar and calories. Plus you might be able to get down what... 8 oz all day? By high calorie they might mean something super sweet like.. I don't know like an Orange Julius or something like that. I was told to not avoid full sugar products the first few weeks out because our bodies need the calories. -
This situation is so funny to me *and maybe ONLY to me* but my mother was an RNY patient many moons ago back in 2001. She has gone from the high 260's to as low as 119. She's now leveled out at about 150 lbs and is really happy with her body. She is 5'4" and has a medium frame. I am 5'3" with a smaller frame but I have more... assets Bigger breasts, hippier hips, more booty. Our shape is virtually the same though. I was looking at her this week (they came to visit for Christmas) and ....if her shape is any indication of what I might look like at goal, Ima'll be "thicker than a Snicker!" She has a great natural shape. Now I am excited to see how much I will look like that when I get down there. If I even get close I will be happy. Now, it took a long time for her to get to her current weight. She lost very slowly and she doesn't have much loose skin. *sign of the cross that I won't be too different from her*

When your MOM has also had Weight Loss Surgery...

Yes, I'm afraid for my boobs and my thighs. UGH. She has no boobage and was never all that big. I have G cups right now. :/ -
239.2 It;s been forever since I saw a number that started in 23- that stayed for very long. I hit it very briefly in June but my weight bounced right back up as soon as I came off of the restrictive Whole 30 plan. It never went back down there. The lowest I've seen in recent years is about 235. Once I get past that point, it will be like breaking new ground. In 2007 I was able to get down to 218... once I see 217, I might do backflips.

i wanna a soda do freaking bad i can scream
TheCurvyJones replied to bbbslady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The real reason is because its loaded with sugar and calories and chemicals and a lot of Sleeves react adversely to it....violent cramps and vomiting. -
high verse low bmi weight loss
TheCurvyJones replied to bbbslady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree that 15 lbs in less than a month is not a slow loss. Thats pretty dang good considering 8 lbs a month is considered really good and you've lost twice that in less the time. Yes, people with more to lose drop more in the beginning. The closer you are to goal the slower the loss is. -
Did anyone name their Sleeve?
TheCurvyJones posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Or am I the only weirdo? I've heard so many people say the Sleeve has a mind of its own and it's own personality, So much that they call it by a name... SleevieWonder is popular. Mine is named Jelly. What's yours? -

I didn't but you will want to contact your surgeon. Chances are they will tell you that you need to be on Clear liquids until your surgery. The point of the pre op diet is to shrink the liver and prep your body for post op. S/he should know that you have been eating so s/he can determine what you need to do before surgery. -
Before you get a date, you fill out a patient history and get approved when you send that in. There are certain patients a doc might not feel comfortable taking. They need to know something about you. I did a blood test and an X-ray upon arrival for my Sleeve. I was not required to do anything before. Without Insurance companies calling the shots, the process is streamlined and moved quickly. You will work with a coordinator who will arrange everything but your airfare. Airfare is never included. I felt more pampered in MX than I've ever felt at a city hospital. They're there for you. They're all about you.
