38 and lots of things I've never done. Hoping that losing some weight and bolstering some confidence as well as improving my looks gives me a running start at marking some things of the list that I don't want to still be there when I turn 40.

IS IT TRUE AFTER 6 MONTHS
TheCurvyJones replied to stellabug321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on the person. My bestie is about 11 months out and still losing. Not RAPIDLY like in the first few months but it's tricking down to about 8lbs a month. -
10 weeks out and I should know better! Geez.

What about setting the plate a little out of reach so that forces a break between bites? Last night I was mindlessly eating and watching TV and ugh. Jelly protested strongly!!! -

No bowel since surgery.. what should i do?
TheCurvyJones replied to princesstia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really thought I was going to pass out when I tried to go. Please first try a softener. Colace worked wonders for me. Milk of Magnesia wasn't bad either. Your bum will thank you! -
I noticed that my patient info link and my surgeon is no longer listed under my name when I post in the forums. It was there... but now it's not. Did I turn something off? I've gone through my settings and all the info is there but those links are now gone.

If you were a binge eater before
TheCurvyJones replied to amytug's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Binge eater here. I always said any program that tackled 'being hungry' wouldn't work for me because I don't eat out of hunger. I am just about two weeks out. Occasionally I think about food. i want to snack more than anything... but it's true how things change after surgery. My mom had some Cheetos when she visited me over break. The smell of them was nauseating. They left three huge slices of gooey chocolate cake... I threw them away. Crunch and Munch in my cabinet? Not a temptation. I measure what I am going to eat because I found out last night what eating too much/too quickly brings. My sleeve was unimpressed with my need to keep eating. I am sure it'll be more difficult as time goes on but for the moment I don't seem to have the same impulses or triggers. In fact, I suffer from S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and really since I decided to have the surgery, I haven't had a mopey, crying day. I think doing something good for me and knowing that I am working toward solving my weight problem has really helped battle it. -
I had AMAZING energy week one. Like..I almost ran up the steps at my house, I felt so good. Then.... I hit a wall. I've been sleeping a lot the last few days. Today back at work and thankful I have a sit down job.

New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
TheCurvyJones replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Uneventful recovery here. No nausea, no pain. Constipation is my biggest problem right now. I think most people are looking for worst case scenario and what to do if it happens. If nothing happens.......nothing to talk about. The scary posts do stand out but I am encouraged by people SO excited to change their lives. -
How to get enough protein
TheCurvyJones replied to lilricanliz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It comes with time.... Work up to it. Worry about hydration and getting rest and healing. The more you can eat, the more protein you can get in. I like to get up early and start with a protein shake. If I wake up late...Bleh. Ill never get it all in. -

Reward for achieving your goal?
TheCurvyJones replied to ArcusX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not really sure. I have achieved rewards a few times in the past but never collected them. I just can't get myself to spend the money. At least I know I earned them. I figure there are some things I am going to have to buy as a I lose weight... clothes and shoes, I'll have to update my hair and makeup. I want to get LASIK and get rid of my glasses. Some little, some big as the time comes. I guess I don't really have numbers in mind, I'll just know when it's time. -
Caramelized Onion and Swiss Chicken Burgers.
TheCurvyJones replied to MsShaunaMarie's topic in Food and Nutrition
No, Im single and rarely cooked Pre surgery so there's no huge benefit to me to buying in bulk like that. I don't have any place to store 80 rolls if toilet paper! For the meat I guess it's good but I can't talk myself into paying money to shop somewhere. -
