totally depressed!
TheCurvyJones replied to Alley1016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most people say they feel tired for the first month after surgery. Once you are able to consume more, you'll have more energy. Protein helps with that as well. It comes and goes for me. GOOD on the baggy clothes. You are losing inches! \o/ I am a few days ahead of you and I've lost 13 lbs. You're not doing too badly, at all! -
i should be more nervous
TheCurvyJones replied to FireRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was calm until I was on the way to the hospital. I wanted a sedative in the car. -
totally depressed!
TheCurvyJones replied to Alley1016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! We can't undo this so the only choice we have is to push through it. I know you're not hungry, but try to get in your Protein and your liquids. Also if you haven't uh........gone in awhile, that may be the culprit. Try some colace or miralax or milk of magnesia because the first go after surgery was quite painful for me! I thought I was losing a bit slowly as well, but the body is going to do what it's going to do and we can't control it. We have to learn to roll with it. It does seem to be picking up now, the more protein I get in, the better I lose. How are other things? Shirts getting baggy? Pants falling off? One of the first signs for me was that my knees didn't hurt on the stairs anymore... and that was mere DAYS after surgery. Keep the faith! You'll make it through. Also you probably won't lose weight every day! Be prepared to see the same numbers for a few days/weeks. It happens... ride it out! -
Help I need advice!
TheCurvyJones replied to UndercoverBariatricGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is normally a stall around week three or so and you will stall-- I call them PAUSES, actually--- now and again throughout your journey. I read somewhere that we don't lose pounds and inches at the same time. While you're 'pausing', you're probably dropping inches from all over. Your body needs some time to adjust itself. You just dropped 30 lbs. It can't keep going like that without some kind of recovery. Push through the break, stay on food and keep advancing your diet. Focus on Proteins and get in your Water. It will pick back up! -

TheCurvyJones replied to lowe1961's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've watched a lot of people lose their weight and most of them say the belly is the last to go! -

Very exciting! I'm going thru that too. I'll be three weeks out on Friday and down 13 lbs, but I'm wearing a top I haven't been able to wear for 2 yrs. Jeans I couldn't wear a month ago slide right on. I'll take it! -

Suggestions for a great UNFLAVORED Protein powder
TheCurvyJones posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I need to be able to add Protein powder to Soup or coffee or what-not... it's the only way I'm going to get protein in. What are your recent finds for a truly unflavored Protein Powder that dissolves well and doesn't change the taste of what you're eating? powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, to me, is NOT unflavored. I can taste that stuff! Plus it clumps. Not a fan! My friend drinks something by SEI and likes it. I don't want an enormous tub of it though. -
 Hi all!

It's hilarious to eat, now
TheCurvyJones replied to TheCurvyJones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine is coming off more slowly than i expected but I was losing absolutely ZERO before surgery so I'll take it. I can't get used to not preparing so much food. I brought some chili for lunch today and I was thinking 'that's too much....' then, 'nah, it's fine...' It was too much. Guess I'll have the rest of it tomorrow. :/ -
You usually see your PCP for followups. If you don't have one or are interested in changing it may be good to locate your new doc now and set your post surgery appointments. As for following up with my surgeon, he checks in with me weekly via email and he's active on social media so if I have a question I tweet or facebook him. I also have his email address and mobile number. The MX surgeons are wide open to their patients.

I changed probably 4 or 5 times. I used to wear big bulky things to hide the fat. I don't want to wear that stuff! I want people to be able to see the waist line I've got going on! I need new shirts at least.

Is it ok to take Ambien a week after surgery?
TheCurvyJones replied to nck12nicholspd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, we got one night two so we could sleep. -
Oh my. I have had some of that tea in a drawer for years and have never taken it. I'm scared. I started incorporating a daily dose of Colace. It has made "going" SO MUCH EASIER. I bet tomorrow is a better, lighter day. ((((gentle hugs))) Relax for today, you've been through an ordeal!

Lol I automatically try to figure out how I could make it lowcarb.

completely disgusted....
TheCurvyJones replied to tonyarenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an every day weigher. I need to know the number. It doesn't make me freak out, but a rise of 4lbs overnight has me wondering what I did the day before. I get the vent and I'm not going to pander with advice that I know you won't follow cause I wouldn't either. Things I review are-- did I drink all my Water? Did I hit my Protein goal? Did I eat late, or have something carby after 7pm? Did I have anything salty? Did I...........Go? Did I exercise? If I did everything right and all my answers are satisfactory to me, I shrug it off. It's how our bodies are and if I am going to weigh every day, I get to see this kind of stuff. If I find something that I probably mucked up, let that be a lesson to me to stop or start doing it. Biggest culprit for me is making sure my bowels move and getting in all of my liquids. Don't stress... review. And if you're TRULY doing everything right, let yourself off the hook, give it a few days and you'll see the scale go back down. For me, that number is instant feedback on how I lived life the day before. Sometimes it gives me a clue. Sometimes it's just my body being my body. MOST times, there is something I need to pay more attention to, even if it's just a hint that Mother Nature is about to cop a squat. -
How soon did you go back to work?
TheCurvyJones replied to Kennedy310's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could have gone to work on day 7, but didn't. I went back around day 12. I used the Christmas vacation time for my surgery. I really recovered much more quickly than I expected to.. Except for a few days where I was really tired and run down and dealing with constipation, I felt like a million bucks. -
Sleeved on December 21st
TheCurvyJones replied to kbby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved on Dec 21st. Per my doc's schedule I don't get to purees and soft foods until next week. I did see a small bump up last week. Discovered that I wasn't 'eliminating waste'. I had to get some colace to take care of that and then I saw it go back down. There may have been an adjustment from Clear liquids to full liquids to purees as well. You know it isn't fat, so track back and make sure you've hit your liquid and Protein goals, you're 'going' at a reasonable clip-- not every day but every few days- and that you're not eating foods high in carbs, fats, or sugars. I know people like to think they can eat anything they want, but we really do have to watch certain things. Well some of us do! I do see better loss when I hit my protein goal. -

Deciding on a doctor/hospital?
TheCurvyJones replied to Changing39's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I looked at ratings and wanted a doctor that was not in Tijuana. I picked Dr.A because of his qualifications and the strength of his patient reviews. When I was trying to get approved for financing, I tried to make myself choose a lower priced but just as qualified surgeon.... No go. Dr.A and Susan made me feel comfortable right away and I hate going to the doctor so that is no small feat. -
