This rain is making me melancholy

Down 14 since day of surgery almost a month ago. Not even 15 lbs yet. It's coming off. I see the lbs loss and I see some inches. I'm exercising, focusing on protein and liquids. I'm full after mere bites. It's working. But... Can I be underwhelmed and happy at the same time? Meh. If the first couple of months is the 'best' a person will lose, I fear for what month six will look like. I feel like I am ALREADY working for every pound.... just like normal. I don't mind working for it. I expected the sleeve to help a little more. It does seem to be picking up, but what happens is... I'll have a drop and then it'll bounce back up for about 5 days. And then drop. And bounce again. Annoying. I don't want hugs or advice. Don't tell me not to weigh so much. FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE if you tell me 'it doesn't come off like it comes on' I will hunt you down and slap you. That isn't what I'm saying at all... don't reduce my experience to that. Just...... venting. And now I'm done. I just had to get that out.

    Coffee lovers...

re: searching... you need to be on the HOME page, as it shows in image 1. Type your search term, press the magnifying glass looking thing. You'll see all the threads that contain coffee in them pop up. You may be only searching the current forum that you're in, which would bring you limited results because it's not searching the full site. To do a full search of the site, go to the home page and do it from there.

    Coffee lovers...

I drink coffee. I get about half a cup down before it's cold and I pour it out.
  8. Sometimes I just lay back and listen to my body work. I was never this LOUD before but I feel like I hear everything. Eating is especially funny because it feels like.... suction? I guess? A little goes down at a time and I hear that "creaking" sound. It's just funny to me. My boss asked me if anything felt different. I wanted to tell him it was like that movie Alien, but i didn't.

    too much too fast?!?!?

Some of us can handle more of things like pudding and soup than others. I can get about half a container of yogurt down, but if I'm mindlessly eating, I could probably chunk it all down. Good that you feel fine, but be sure to not use it as license to go hog wild... measured, controlled portions.

    Milk of Mag= terrible!

I tried MoM and it didn't really help. Colace was a Godsend.

    Stomach Gurgles

I find it funny, actually. Between me and my mom (gastric bypass 12 yrs out) Christmas break was hilarious! My dad just rolled his eyes.

How I keep from over eating!

Portion control is the name of the game! i'm only 3 weeks out so I am still learning what the little pulls and "feelings" mean. I eat out of a teacup or a ramekin and only cover the bottom. Sometimes I can't even eat that.

    Finally under 300

    NICE! Love it!

    I'm never Hungry!

I feel empty... sometimes hunger. Not really the way I felt before surgery, like ravenous and like I could eat the paint off the walls. Just a...hey do you think you could feed me a little something? Thanks. feeling. I like to get something in every 2 hours or so. Otherwise I will go like 6 hours without eating and then I get home and Jelly is MAD. I think "regular" portions are a thing of the past. I talk to a lot of people that are YEARS out and a cup of food is about the norm for them.

    Valentines Day Challenge!

I couldn't figure out the spreadsheet but I am in! I'd like to be down 10lbs by 2/14. I am dropping about 2lbs a week so that should be do able. My stats: WI- Fridays Goal- 10lbs Challenge start weight- 237.2 Challenge goal weight 227.0 Plan: I am three weeks out from surgery today. I am starting a walking challenge for myself, trying to do 10 miles by the end of the month. I usually do a 1 or 2 mile Leslie Sansone video 3 to 4 days a week. I've also added a Tiffany Roth workout video. That should get me some inches and hopefully some poundage!

    Isopure protein drink

I like the Alpine Punch and I can tolerate the Grape Frost. I thought I would like the Apple Melon but it's just too much for me. It tastes better when it's ICE COLD. I fill a cup with ice and pour Isopure over it and sip until I can fit more in there and just keep pouring. The days when I can get down the whole bottle (there for 40grams of protein) I lose better. I'm about to start stocking up on the stuff. I have also mixed a little bit of crystal light Appletini to kick at the taste a little bit. it does have an odd aftertaste but the Alpine is tolerable.

    Stage 3 soft foods

I was sleeved 10 days ahead of you and I don't move to soft foods until tomorrow. It could be that your sleeve just isn't ready for it. My doc says it takes 21 days for the sleeve to completely heal and until then we should baby it and not push its limits. Broth, shakes and yogurt at 2.5 weeks out doesn't seem odd to me.

    Dont flame me

I'm sure people vary the pre op diet to fit their own needs without any consequence, however I would talk with your surgeon about modifying the diet and not go behind his back about it. He might help you come up with something workable that will still achieve the goals he has set. Every doc has a different pre op diet but they all prescribe it for a reason. If your BMI is at a certain level, fatty liver is a risk. Getting off any additional weight can be nothing but a benefit to you. I did 2 weeks of liquids ( that includes drinkable soups) and really it was fine. It's not like hcg where you're limited on calories.

    It's hilarious to eat, now

Agreed, eating is cheap right now. I used to spend aobut $100 a week on food. I ate out everyday, never cooked. I can't even imagine it now! Today we had fajita bar for lunch... chicken and steak, veggies, rice, Beans, queso, guac.... whole deal. The pitiful amount of refried beans and cheese I could eat... and out of this tiny ramekin... and I couldn't even eat all that I had dished out! I am amazed.

Was asked to share my VSG story...

Only one other person that day. She is a member here- GoodE2shoes. DR A asked who wanted to go first and bestie piped up, "SHE DOES. She's nervous, let's get this over with."
  24. at 4 days out, not much. Maybe a bottle water. Now almost three weeks out I am drinking two to three liters a day. As you heal, you'll be able to get more in. Just keep a bottle in your hand and sip all day.
