2/8/2013: Started this process in July 2012 by attending an information session. I'd thought about it for more than 10 years, but didn't decide to follow through until a colleague of mine had RNY. I was really impressed how her quality of life changed and how good she felt. I asked her lots of questions then decided to pursue it. Even with developing an ulcer she said she'd do it a thousand times over to feel that good. Everyone in my support group say the only negative thing is they wished they'd done it sooner! But every one has to be ready to accept the challenge. I am finally ready!!

Today, is my 60th birthday. At Christmas we found out we are expecting our first grand child in August. I want to be here for the little one and the rest of my family. I'm looking at retirement in 2 years. I want to be able to do the things I've never been able to do before and truly enjoy the rest of my life.

I am now looking forward to the VSG surgery on Valentines Day. What better way to celebrate... by improving the condition of my heart!
