Protein Shakes....What's your favorite?
happytobehere replied to Photo925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love alot of the Syntrax nectars because there are alot of fruit flavors instead of the same vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. My faves are fuzzy navel mixed with strawberry crush(flavoring stick for water), strawberry kiwi, twisted cherry, lemon tea, and the lemonade. The possibilities of mixing them with other flavoring is endless. Oh I also like them because you can mix them with 16 of Water per scoop and get both 23 grams of Protein and 16oz of water at the same time. But you can mix with milk if you like. For thicker style shake with milk I would recommend syntax matrix shakes. They come in flavors like mint cookie and Cookies and cream. They are truly wonderful. I hope this helps!! -

If you are going for taste, I love the Syntrax nectar shakes. I mix mine with 16 oz of Water so that I am getting my water intake as well as my protein. They come in 12 or so flavors and alot of fruit flavors. They have 23 grams of Protein and it's whey protein which is what we need. They are pricier then what you can buy in the store but totally worth it!! It comes in a two pound container. Also, not sure where you live but I am in Tx and at HEB stores they sell Sytrax Matrix shakes and they come in great flavors besides the regular 3, they such flavors as chocolate mint, Cookies n cream, Peanut Butter cookie and others. They are also fantastic if you like to mix with milk. But you can buy all of these online as well at dietdirect.com or mybariatricpantry.com. Hope this helps!! -

Sweet Pea, Just curious but how much weight did you lose after getting rid of the extra skin? -
I am 15 months out and have lost 129lbs. Which I am very happy with. I let loose during the holidays and even though I only gained 2 lbs(which I have since lost), I am so mad at myself. But I am trying to get back on the bandwagon and stuggling to do so. Please remind me of all the rules that got me here. I have 20 pounds to go to reach my personal goal and want so bad to start losing again. I've been staying at 1200 calories but struggling to keep my carbs low. Which I did mostly low carb on my weight loss journey. Even though my NUT said to only count Protein and Water intake and not calories and carbs. That is not working for me. I am not gaining but I am not losing. Also I drink 12 cups of water daily and at least 80 grams of protein. Usually more like 100. What am I doing wrong?

Depression 6 months after sleeve?
happytobehere posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had issues with depression after the sleeve? I had been feeling pretty good but the last week or so have had such sadness and feel very overwhelmed. I haven't had anything (that I can think of) happen that would put me in this state of mind. Not sure what is going on. I am proud of my weight loss so far. 90 lbs!! But this is for the birds.... -
Depression 6 months after sleeve?
happytobehere replied to happytobehere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies. It probably is hormonal and with the changes our bodies have gone thru. I just thought I wouldn't be depressed this far out. Especially with feeling better about myself since the weight loss. I know I will get past it. Hopefully just a phase.... -
Can't get enough protein
happytobehere replied to cabreralisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used syntax nectar drinks and mix them with water. I love the latte cappuccino, fuzzy naval, strawberry kiwi, crystal sky. There are tons of flavors and I mix them with 16 oz of water. They way you get your water and your protein in at the same time. I too could not hardly look at another protein shake. But some other options are, use an ice cream maker and pour your shake made with skim, soy, almond or your choice of milk into it and turn it into ice cream. Sometimes the change helps. It turns out really good. But you can also make your current shakes with water instead of milk too to thin them out. It is very important early on to get this protein in. You will start to feel much better once you do as well. I wasn't hungry at the early stages but I forced myself to drink it and after a few times of doing that you will become a pro. You can do it!! -

I am down 90lbs and I too still morn food. I have good and bad days. But I do feel much much better. But still have problems with what I see in the mirror. (other people see that I look better than what I see) I am hoping that will go away with time. But still so thankful for my sleeve. -

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
happytobehere replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes. This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel good again and I haven't in a very long time. Very thankful for this wonderful tool. -
I would like to know the answer to this as well. I am being told that I need to have one to stop having two periods a month.

UPDATE ON OCTOBER SLEEVERS WHERE ARE YOU
happytobehere replied to chris54's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I posted in January, I was 219 and as of this morning am now 194!! I am so excited. Also, I have learned quit alot along the way. I have pretty much tried to be a low carber but have learned through trial and error that it really doesn't matter what you eat (carbs included) that the main focus is to get in 60-80 grams (or more) of protein and drink you water. I know it says to drink at least 64 oz a day but I lose best when I drink at least 80 oz or more (10 cups). I have tried this and it is really working for me. I know that everyone is different but that is the water intake that my body requires to continually lose weight. I also shoot for at least 73 grams of protein a day. ( I was given this number when taking the class to get the surgery. I was asked what my goal weight was and was told that 73 grams was the amount I needed to get to my goal weight which is 135. I hope that this will help others out there struggling to figure all of this out. It took me a long while to understand what they meant when they say eat your protein first and then you can have whatever you want. Now I get it!! Congrats to everyone on their weight loss journey. This truly has changed my life!! -

This is the bad thing about typing responses, it's hard to distinguish the tone in which someone is speaking. Something very simple can get misconstrued as being mean or ugly. We all have different personalities and humor. Not that this subject is funny. I hope that everyone has a great day!!

Snaproll, I myself, feel the same way alot of the other ladies do here. I have lost almost 70 lbs and have been bombarded by people stopping me asking "have I been loosing weight?", "How great I look". I think what is alarming is that it is overwhelming to us. Here we were invisible before and all of a sudden you have all of this attention that you didn't have before. And for me, I don't know how to handle it. It's been a very long time since I have received a compliment from anyone about the way I look. Women do that this personally. I have gotten used to not having this attention all of these years and then all of a sudden people are going out of their way to stop and talk to you. It has taken me 3 months to get used to how to handle the sleeve and get used to the sleeve lifestyle. That is overwhelming enough and then to add the pressure of everyone talking about it. I think that once I am further out, the comments won't bother me as much anymore because I will hopefully start getting used to all of this. I just know that this is the one part that the doctor's and nutritionist's don't prepare people for. And yes it is all mental. I think that goes to show how badly overweight people put themselves down. At least I did. I definitely have a better self esteem since I have lost some weight. I hope I didn't say anything offensive, that is not my intention here. I am just trying to help Snaproll understand why we feel the way that we do.
