I'm about a week post op looking for some local people to share experiences and recipes and that kind of stuff with.

I met with a friend today who told me that somebody had commented on my weight loss. They said I must not be doing something right because I've only lost 65lbs since surgery on October 22. Thankfully she is a good friend who has had bypass and knows how the journey goes. So she stood up for me and said," Actually, I think she's ahead of schedule." I wasn't mad about the comment, but intrigued on what would make somebody say something like that when they really don't have a clue. This isn't a rant but more of sharing. Just think it's funny how people are still so judgemental even after a person has lost so much.

Was at 213 today, so only lost 12lbs, but better than nothing!

Not sure if this is the right place but...

I just had an upper GI yesterday and found out I have a sliding hiatal hernia. Food and even water is getting stuck. I have a HIDA scan on Monday to look at my gallbladder. So I don't know what my surgeon wants to do as of yet. But I guess I'll go back to liquids for now since food gets stuck. My surgery date was October 22, 2012, so I'm almost 4 months out. -
I used to work with a gal like that who liked to tell people what they should be wearing and how their hair and make up should be. Control freaks!

40lbs at 3 weeks is amazing! Some people just shouldn't speak. My mom is always asking if I'm still losing weight. It frustrates me. Yes mom, I'm still losing and may be for up to 18 months. I wish people would try to educate themselves before opening their mouths.

Wouldn't that be nice if we had come out of surgery 100 or so pounds lighter?
-
I'm not sure who it was that made the comment but I don't really care, either. I wasn't going to tell anybody about my surgery, but it was a new program at my hospital and I was approached about sharing my story and experience. They had me do a pre-surgery camera interview that ran on Facebook and Twitter in two parts. Then they tweeted my surgery live from the OR. I've had one follow up interview since surgery and about to do another one. I decided to share knowing that people would talk behind my back. So that's why I'm not really surprised or upset about the comment and just find it amusing. But in sharing my story it has helped others decide if this is the right path for them. I don't regret sharing. I've gotten tons of support and that outweighs the negativity of others.

Thanks! I love being able to come here for support and encouragement and to share things like this. My thought was who the heck is this person to judge? I did laugh about it.

I feel guilty because I went to Dressbarn today with the intent to buy one shirt with my gift card from Christmas. Well, I walked out with a few more. I found 3 on the sale rack and the other 3 I paid full price for. They are all smaller sizes and I felt terrific trying them on. I'm sad to know they'll be too big in a few months and that I spent that money.
-
Good to know. I have so many nice things from when I was bigger.
-
I've been giving things away, but I just feel guilty about spending the money. I do know my confidence is up when I have on nice clothes that compliment me and my shrinking size. That feeling is amazing!

I originally was only telling a few select people/friends, my mom and of course my husband. That was until I was approached by the clinical coordinator and asked if they could Tweet my surgery live from the OR. Feeling like my story could potentially help others, I agreed. So I ended up telling everyone and I'm glad I did. The support I've received from my coworkers and all my friends on Facebook has been amazing. Again, no regrets here!

Premeire Protein Drinks from Costco - BEST EVER
Krissymbr replied to IMWORTHIT2013's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Premier is 160 calories 5g carb and 30g protein. -
I am 3 1/2 months out and have no regrets. This is hands down the best thing I have ever done for myself and my family. The only complaint my husband has is that I don't make a good pillow anymore.

How does recovery compare to c-section?
Krissymbr replied to laceymm888's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me the c-section was much easier than the sleeve. Yes, I was up walking the same day, but the pain and fatigue was worse. That being said the pain doesn't last forever. -

One Week Post-Op :d
Krissymbr replied to Crystalite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! I was also sleeved on Monday, October 22. I lost 12.5lbs preop and have now started losing again - down another 2.5lbs. I agree that seeing the scale go down rather than up is a huge motivation! I am also struggling to get my fluids and protein in. I went and bought some protein shots yesterday that are 2.5oz and have 26g of protein in them. I hope this will help. As for pain, I have one incision that pulls and burns when I move. I have a call into the nurse to see if this is normal. Other than that it's just the usual postop soreness.
