    Need to make better choices

Thanks so much for those encouraging words and the great ideas!

    Need to make better choices

So I'm having problems making wise food choices of late. I can't really eat much of these foods because of the band but I still wanted to do better as far as the choices go. The doctor told me I could eat regular foods again but I have PB'd a few times doing this. All my life I have been a fast eater and haven't chewed my food up as I should so I'm thinking that I need to chew more (I have slowed down though). I am trying to do much better in this area. I have not exercised at all lately, including walking, so I'm failing in that area too. The weather has become much cooler now so hopefully that will motivate me to get going. My weight is at a standstill and it's my own fault. I'm thinking about signing up for a 5K just to get me motivated to start exercising. Frustrated at myself.

Anyone up for training for their 1st 5k?

Can someone post the website for the Couch to 5K program. My daughters and I are thinking seriously about signing up for the Prevention.com walk in Dallas on December 14th. This is just the motivation I need to get busy and exercise. Thanks!

    Got my first fill!

So I'm wondering......does a 10cc band actually hold more in it when you consider the tubing or does the 10cc include only the restriction area around the stoma area?
  10. I am doing really well, thanks! By the end of the week I should hit the 50 pound mark. But, I noticed I am starting to "experiment" more with the types of food I'm eating so I need to be careful with that. Haven't tried Wendy's chili. I went there once and jsut got the jr. burger and ate only the meat and cheese. It seemed to be enough. Eating out is tough, though!

    Got my first fill!

I received my first fill today and was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. A physician's assistant did mine at the Outcare Center. She said the dr. put 5cc in during surgery and she added one more cc to it. The procedure was very easy, just one little pin prick and it was over in about 20 seconds. She didn't numb me and there was no pain. I also had to drink a glass of water to make sure it would go down okay.

    "shopping in my attic"

How fun is that, way to go Gary! Your doing great with the no beer and wine too. I ended up having some wine so you have more willpower than I do. What's really hard for me is not being able to drink diet coke. Congratulations again on your weight loss and being able to go attic shopping.

    Down 15 lbs.

So I went for my one month check-up today and have lost 15 lbs. since my surgery date (8/26). That was a nice surprise! I thought I had lost only 12 lbs and was perfectly happy with that. I was supposed to have my first fill on Wednesday but he went ahead and gave me one today. I also found out that I had 5 cc's put in at the time of surgery and the PA added another 1 cc today. I was so hungry by the time I left the office but am back to liquids for two days now. By Friday he said I could go to regular foods and instructed me to get in about 60 grams of protein a day. I can't wait to start experimenting with new foods. Went to the heart dr. today too and after an ECG was told that I have a perfectly healthy heart. That was a huge load off of my mind!

Went bowling last night for the first time in ages. We are on a Fall bowling league and I haven't been able to bowl the first three weeks (doctor's orders) since I had lap band surgery. It was fun and pretty easy; I enjoyed it other than the cigarette smoke everywhere. I did eat a few french fries and half of a cheese stick yesterday. Should not have done that but they were soft and I chewed them up good. Calorie wise I am probably not having enough. Got on the scale this morning and lost another .5 lbs. I'm so glad it is Friday! My husband and I are going camping in Tyler this weekend. Our two youngest kids are in college there. My oldest daughter, her husband and my granddaughter will be joining us so it's going to be a fun weekend! I have two tests this next week and will need to study some this weekend too. I haven't been studying like I normally do so will pick up the pace.
