Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?
Kivtuar replied to Strangefruit's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was told no raw veg for something like 6 months. It is too hard and can cause a leak. -
Family, Kids, Vsg, And Hospitals
Kivtuar replied to JustSayMoe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My 15 year old begged to come, and ended up bawling in the hospital room when I got in from recovery and then cried all the way home too. Kids just aren't prepared to see their parents hurt. Plus as others have said, you will want to put a strong face on for them and there is really no way to do it. Especially those first few times you are trying to stand up and walk. Leave your kids at home -

Favorite Things To Sip On!
Kivtuar replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mix a full day's worth of Protein in the morning and drink on it all day. That way I'm sure I got it all in and it makes it not as bad. (Mostly because I can't quite take a whole serving (6oz) in one shot and if I mix one serving at a time I'll push it until I drink it (empty plate syndrome has followed me to liquids). I use a little 1 oz hurricane/fancy cup and pour the shake into it. So I can mentally finish the glass without having to finish the mixer. Something tasty to add to your shakes is some instant coffee. You get kind of a latte/mocha going depending on your shake flavor (vanilla/chocolate) .. put it in a blender with some ice and you have a frappe -
Favorite Things To Sip On!

I love me some apple juice. It's been on my "No" list for so long .. calories and carbs when I try not to drink any calories. I've been indulging lately because of my liquid diet, but I'm sure, soon I'll have to ditch the apples in favor of some more Atkins friendly drinks. -
Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
Kivtuar replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You need the water to keep you hydrated and to give the fat a vehicle to leave your body. Also, your body is traumatized... It might not want to work properly. Also search for 3 week stall.. Mini stall that happens in the third week... You might just be an early bloomer -
Are you sitting/laying down all day? Are you getting up reasonably often to get a drink, use the restroom or just change rooms? I think they just want to make sure you aren't sleeping or sitting 24/7.. I don't know. I don't think it needs to be strenuous, just moving. Get you a small glass so you have to refill it more often that will get you up. Change rooms when you are watching tv or reading. The more you move the easiest it gets to move.

Why Cant We Have Red Gatorade ?
Kivtuar replied to azrrel herrejon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be red dye or red gatorade has some specific allergens associated with it? Pretty unusual, but you never know. -

Sometimes the swelling will make you retain water.. It isn't uncommon to hear about weight gain immediately after surgery. Good luck! You are going to feel great in a few days -
It will get better! Day 3 for me was still unpleasant but day 4 was a whole new ball game and by day 9 I was off painkillers completely (I think I could have done it sooner but those stupid staples HURT) good luck!

300+ To Loose... Just Got My Surgery Date
Kivtuar replied to measureofme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are having to self pay, you might wait to apply in January. New rules take affect (Obamacare and general rule updates) that might get your insurance to pay. Last year (2011) my insurance only needed a 35 bmi, this year it is 40. They also change how many years of weight history you need. Something to think about, and it is only a month away. -
I think that is my main problem.. I am not hungry I just want to TASTE something new

Just Got Threaded Last Night 26 Nov
Kivtuar replied to tizv123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are your best (and sometimes only) advocate! Don't let them run you out! -
I had some burning around an incision and figured out it was the remnants of whatever they stuck on me during surgery. You could see the faint outline if sticky stuff and it burned when I touched it. Be careful though, scary when those stitches don't behave

I was sleeved on 11/21 - I waited 5 hours for them to wheel me back for the surgery, was in surgery for 3 1/2 and then 2 hours of recovery. I went in at 9am, the next time I saw the sky it was dark! I agree the hardest part about getting out of bed in the hospital is your LEGS! You're basically in a sitting position anyway but those legs, those legs. I finally figured out you can use the guard rail down at your feet to kind of half way get them up so you don't have to get them ALL the way to the bed the first lunge. I had ice chips the rest of the night and then I could get juices and broth the next morning (and since I didn't get back to my room until late, I didn't have to wait very long at all) I had pretty much no problem with anything, a slight problem with the broth, it didn't sit exactly right so I just didn't drink it... Now when I got home.. that's a different story.. I figured I was a professional now, I had mastered the tiny sips from those little 2 tbs cups, I could handle a regular sized drink! Not so, not so. First time I threw up was when I got home and took a swig out of a real glass. BE CAREFUL Good luck! You're going to do awesome

Good Luck! It'll be great

I went to forest park on 11/21 .. BEAUTIFUL hospital .. I had a suite... My own living room even would have been a lot more enjoyable if I Hadith time there to enjoy it though (got to the room at 8p and checked out by 2) Nurses were great except for that one.... but she didn't know the full story and was just being difficult to help me. Anyway, beautiful hospital
