Glad you went to the ER that did your surgery. They will (hopefully) be a little more in tune with a sleeve. Hope it turns out to be nothing!

I call those Protein curds. I ruined many things with protein curds. I have found if you add them to hot foods then it works better bit you still get them. I got tired of trying to be creative with my shakes and just bought some RTD premiere protein and just swig it as best I can.

Time To Check Out My Hospital's Er!
Kivtuar replied to lizv123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See if they will let you put some plain vanilla yogurt on it.. Very soothing and it helps kill yeast to boot. (https://www.google.com/search?q=vanilla+yogurt+for+yeast+infection) And, even if you don't want to try it, maybe thinking about people smearing yogurt on their hoo-hoos will help you smile through the next time you need to pee. Enjoy the ice chips hon, keep your chin up. This too shall pass and soon you will be enjoying life again. -

Did anyone use Barker Bariatrics in Dallas?
Kivtuar replied to toxtomany's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was basically me too.. I met him first in the OR for my egd but I was without my glasses so virtually blind and getting knocked out so I didn't remember much. I did get to meet him pre-op but that was cold comfort when they were starting my surgery 3 hours late My husband's initial appointment was with barker himself, mine was with hodges, surgery with Rodriguez and 1 week check up with Thompson. I also met with their PA last week when my incisions looked kind of questionable. So I guess the thing to add along with the time management is they shuffle doctors around... But if you've ever been to a group PCP doctor they do that a lot too.. Maybe not as much and not without your consent -

I had my sleeve done on nov 21, recommended to barker by my husband's coworker who had the full triple nuke everything bypass Do I feel they are competent? Yes. Is their staff friendly? Yes. Did I spend hours waiting in their waiting rooms and pre-surgery? Yes. They were on time about 10% of my appointments so far. It isn't a deal breaker, but if you don't plan on them taking forever on your appointments, you will be sorry. Now to balance that I never felt rushed when talking to the doctors and I have spoken with all 4 of them. (Barker, Thompson, Hodges and Rodriguez) Rodriguez did my actual surgery. Would I recommend them to others? Yes, as long as you know what you are getting into with their time management. -

I get that too.. But usually only if I eat too much... Try to eat less maybe? Or take longer to eat what you are eating?

I was told Tylenol cold and flu, DayQuil or NyQuil ... Just make sure it is liquid and only Tylenol for pain relief. -
Five things no one every told me how to deal with
Kivtuar replied to janerose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I lost 50 lbs last year and noticed all the wrinkles appearing, I freaked out and I think that might have gone a long way in sabotaging my most successful diet in years. This year I have no choice because my sleeve won't let me quit I am HOPING it is just a deflated balloon scenario where the skin just hasn't tightened back up after the fat underneath is gone and most of these wrinkles will go away. -
itchy rash-like annoyance...?
Kivtuar replied to JoeyB616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They drape things around your incision, you could be suffering an allergic reaction to that. I have 6 incisions, 2 have healed perfectly, 4 look crappy and almost infected. I called the doctor and they brought me in and looked at it, they just told me to take an extra shower (so two showers/day) Keep am eye on it.. You don't want an infection. Also, she told me no creams on the incisions. -
Your doctors push Bariatric Advantage because they get a % of sales from it. That's why they have a "store" for it off their web page. (at least mine does) Not saying it's good or bad... Just saying they have an ulterior (or at least secondary) motive in promoting it. My problem has not been so much the flavor but just trying to get it all down. I make a big 18oz shake in the morning and chug along on it all day. I even don't let myself eat "real" food until I've gotten all my Protein down for the day to encourage me. I've tried Isopure low carb dutch chocolate, and finally finished it. It's not bad tasting. I've tried Isopure unflavored and it adds a milky flavor to things.. It's not bad in coffee, but it's terrible in iced tea. I really don't like Soup or broth so I haven't tried it in that. Someone in another thread mentioned the "New whey liquid Protein" it is basically a Jello shot of protein. 3.4oz and 42g of protein. You shoot half of it for Breakfast, half of it for lunch and another half at dinner and bingo, all your protein. It's supposed to taste like ass but I'm willing to try it just to get out of the all day sipping of regular Protein drinks.

5 Confessions (Join In)
Kivtuar replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The point people are trying to make for you is this: pre surgery your stomach has 5 blood vessels that supply blood. Most of those are removed when they remove your greater curve. When you smoke you increase the CO2 in your blood stream making it that much harder for your remaining blood vessels to keep your stomach alive and functioning correctly. I know it's true confessions, and you should feel free to confess to anything, and maybe the occasional smoke won't hurt anything, who knows, but know your facts before you partake in something that could cause irreparable damage. (And before you say it's just Fruit Tobacco, not real tobacco, the mellow/relaxed feeling you get is the increased CO2 in your system causing you to feel sleepy, similar to CO2 poisoning. So yes, it's going to hurt you eventually.) -

Post-Surgery Hormonal Changes?
Kivtuar replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! I could not sleep in clothes or I would soak them in the middle of the night. We kept the a/c down low 68/65 and just a sheet for me and I would STILL sweat. Since the surgery it has been awesome! sleeping through the night and I can even use a quilt! -
No pepto! It has asprin in it.

Finally Get To Start Pureed/soft Foods
Kivtuar replied to jennaayyy03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For puréed I bought a can of Campbell's chunky soup an stuck it in the ninja. Tasted just like it was supposed to, but no chewing Go with the saying of "will it blend?" And test it out. my doc even said I could do refried Beans at that stage, I just might want to add some extra Water to it. -
Geez. I eat a chewy Vitamin, I burp for hours. I drink a Protein drink, I burp for hours. Heaven forbid I eat something substantial, I burp for days! (Exaggeration? Maybe but seriously massive amounts of gas!) It doesn't hurt, I am not necessarily full, but my husband and I are kind of tired of my gianormous continuous stream of burps after I consume something. Gas x helps a little but they are kind of expensive to use constantly and you can only have 8 of them a day anyway. I try eating slower, smaller, whatever it doesn't help. I am 2.5 weeks post surgery. Does this happen to anyone else?
-
I will look for the pills. Like I said there is no pain, but I'd like to be able to go out in public occasionally without burping my way through it
