Sounds like it won't do much for the excess skin, which is mostly your problem. I doubt there are a lot of fat deposits still

Dr Rodriguez from Barker Bariatrics in Dallas. Surgery was at Forest Park on Central Exp Who was yours?

Hey I am in Royse city too! Small world

I have lost a bit on it but usually gain it immediately back when you switch to real food. Pre surgery I asked my doctor if I could use medifast instead of the Protein shakes and she said no. I can't remember what the reasoning was though. I can't really recommend it or Optifast... Both of them are kind of crap. You are better off just drinking a Protein Drink and eating some eggs

Eating out! How do you sleevers do it?
Kivtuar replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Last night dh and I had a date night at Red Lobster. I ate half a biscuit, a few bites of salad, a couple shrimp and packed up the rest. I divided the left over booty amongst my kids. They were excited because they got restaurant food and I was excited because I didn't have to eat left overs for 3 days. -
I did the medifast diet before sleeve.. (not in association with the sleeve, in one of the hundreds of diets I tried during my life.) What did you want to know about it?

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Get a skinny macchiato instead of a full sugar one. If you're getting a "skinny" drink from Starbucks it really does taste almost as good as the real thing. -
The Walmart in Rockwall Texas carries the Atkins meals.. Right between the smart ones and lean cuisines I bought two of each of the regular meals... VERY EXCITED about this. I have been wishing for an Atkins TV dinner for at least two years Closest I ever came was the Nighthawk family meals that had three or four steaks and I threw away the carby veg.

Add me to the no pee list too! It is fantastic

I like the pure protein bars too.. You can find them at Walmart .. 15 grams protein and I think 3 grams of carb

Seriously struggling with getting my protein
Kivtuar replied to jcsleeved2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe? I would wait an hour if possible, but honestly I don't know.. As the articles say there are a lot of variables dealing with how much and how long it takes to digest Protein but they all agree you can hit an upper limit and waste the excess. Personally I have a drink at 530 when I wake up an then a bar at 9 when I get the kids off to school and then stick to real food for the rest of the day ... (Most all protein based, so who knows how much I really get) -

Seriously struggling with getting my protein
Kivtuar replied to jcsleeved2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The problem with that is that your body can't use that much protein in one go... I think 25-30 is the limit .. You are wasting the extra :/ -

I wouldn't be surprised if these two had something to do with each other.. Your body is used to the restrictive diet more so than people that are just beginning to restrict their food.. The same way people lose more/faster initially than 6 months later. -
Seriously struggling with getting my protein
Kivtuar replied to jcsleeved2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That and unflavored protein.. isn't. It's less flavored .. I have not found anything I like/am allowed to eat that unflavored protein doesn't taint so much that I can choke it down. Yogurt, pudding, tea, coffee, water, oatmeal are all terrible... Maybe even horrific... I did put it in ravioli and that was tolerable, but I'm not supposed to have the ravioli so it kind of defeats the purpose. -
How long before we can swallow whole pills
Kivtuar replied to slatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried to crush my omeprazole the first day home from the hospital and couldn't do it. I buy the tiny Kirkland (Costco) brand and just swallow it. I buy chewable everything that I can find, but Omep just doesn't come that way. Like a lot of things with the surgery, you have to weigh the pros and cons. I decided it was better for me to just swallow it and at least get it, than it was for me to avoid/skip it and have a higher % chance of complications by not taking it. I am 6 weeks post op and have been taking it since day 4. -
New guy here, you've GOT to read this!

Look, if you've ever worked customer service then you know the most vocal are the ones that had the worst experience. It's true across the board whether it be a restaurant, shopping or surgery a satisfied customer will tell 2-3 a dissatisfied one will tell 8-10. If you're having no complications, then the only reason to stick around is to look at before and after pictures, to check how your "friends" are doing and to waste time. By it's very nature if you're doing well on the sleeve then you're not going to have your ass stuck to a chair, you're going to be out MOVING and living life. Ig IS a bit of a brow beater when it comes to her complications. That said, I know of at least one person she convinced to go back to the doctor (after she was sent home because she was "fine") who did indeed have a leak. If you're upset that she's trying to become a one woman crusade to make sure everyone knows there can be complications, maybe you should create Team Good Vibes to tell everyone how great you did. I personally have thrown up 3 times so far, each time was my own stupid fault for being dumb. (big swig of Water when I first got out of the hospital, ate a pork chop too fast and didn't chew well enough, and tried some kind of weird Bacon ranch chicken lunch meat that I probably should have known better than to try even before sleeve) My incisions got a little infected, but not enough for antibiotics, and one of my nurses in the hospital was a mean twit. I was sleeved 11/21 and as of this morning I am down 47 pounds. Most days I feel awesome and I have never regretted getting the surgery. -
Diet History Sheet
Kivtuar replied to Sadtosaygoodbye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me they don't really look at them beyond making sure you have actually tried to do something to lose the weight. Your 5 year weight history from your doctor is the one that counts. Now if you are fudging numbers you don't want to say you were 300 at the same time your doctor says you were 250... But honestly weight fluctuates and you can be off a bit. -
40 Y.O.,Obese since childhood, want to lose 150?
Kivtuar replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Remember also that it is an average. There are lots of people that for whatever reason, don't use the tools they are given and make bad eating choices and don't lose the weight. If you remember from school it only takes one zero (no weight loss) to ruin your average I think anything is possible if you want it bad enough -

Sometimes you can carb shock yourself into losing again ... Just load up on the carbs for one day and then give it a day or two to work. -
Looking fantastic!

I was told to leave them until they fell off... That said, 3 weeks later 1 of them still hadn't fallen off and it was looking mighty gross under there. I went to my doctor and they ended up pulling it off and agreeing that it was early stage infection and they weren't going to give me antibiotics, but to keep an eye on it and if it got worse or not better in a few days I should come back. Long story short, try to leave them on until they get too gross then help them along.

What city are you in? Maybe there is one of us close enough to help?
