Sleeve for 13 year old. Doctor recommendations Mexico
Keepgoing247 replied to slcmommy5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I was just wondering if you have made any decisions? I actually spoke with my patient coordinator about scheduling my daughter for right after school is out. He is sending me the name of a lady to speak with. She had. VSG and so did her 13 year old daughter. Also other family members and cousins (teens) have had the VSG as well. I've heard her daughter is doing amazing and loves her new life, but I have a lot of questions I want to ask the mom. My daughter faked being sick from school yesterday because she is sick of being bullied for her weight. I know this won't solve everything but I want her to have the confidence in herself that she should have. She is beautiful, smart, talented, I could go on and on! But our world is very focused on weight and looks. I'm tired of my daughter siting on the sidelines of her life. Always feeling poorly about herself. So, we are not 100% sure about moving forward, but we are praying and getting her counseling and moving in that direction. My husband and I have set a 20lb minimum weight loss she has to do before we will commit to surgery. We have to know she is committed to the new life and ready to follow the very important post op diet. It's a lot of money, but for my daughter to have a better quality of life, feel confident, and be healthy, there isn't much I wouldn't do / pay. I'd love to chat more with you if you would like. I'm sure the mother of the 13 year old VSG patient would be willing to talk to you as well. Just let me know! Good luck and I wish you and your beautiful daughter well, however you decide to proceed. -
Congratulations on your new life!

I usually only crave sweets during TOM. Otherwise I would much rather have chips or crackers if I was going to "cheat". Have you tried the Quest Protein bars? I love their chocolate chip cookie dough bar. I heat it in the microwave for about 20 seconds and then eat it. I've heard some people put some whip cream on top, I've never tried that. This is my go to item when I want something sweet. To me, it taste heavenly! Plus, no guilt and I just ate a high number of protein and Fiber. I always have a few bars at the house in case a craving hits. I haven't had one in over a week, but some weeks I eat one daily. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you. ????

Sleeve for 13 year old. Doctor recommendations Mexico
Keepgoing247 replied to slcmommy5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I spoke with Dr Quinones in TJ about VSG for my 13 year old daughter. He is a very skilled surgeon and was willing to do the procedure. He has done the surgery on other 13 year olds. My daughter is now almost 14. Now that she is finally watching what she eats, and is exercising more, she has lost 20lbs on her own. Because she is wanting it (to be healthy), I'm again considering VSG for her. Before I don't think she could have done the pre-op or post-op diets. It's a really hard decision. I want my daughter to also have confidence and know she is beautiful and smart. I also hate to do something so permanent at a young age. If I had the money in hand right now, I probably would schedule her for the week school was out for the year. Whatever decision you make will be the right one! I know if my daughter does the VSG we will make sure she has a support system and counseling to help her as the surgery really isn't a quick fix. But it just might give her the life she wants and deserves. -
It's nice that they are zero calories, fat and carbs. But in order to be that way, it seems like they have a lot of chemicals. I'm staying away from them for now. I have used some in the past with mixed results as far as taste.

suffering tremendously..

I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain. My husband and I both had VSG the same day and the pain was worse the first day and by the 3rd day we didn't need any pain medication. We felt well enough to return to work, I did chores around the house. We just moved slightly slower and were a little more tired than normal. That being said, everyone is different. My husband and I were probably lucky. However, I don't think you should still be in that amount of pain. I strongly suggest going back to your Dr and keep insisting on tests until they figure out what is causing the pain. ER Dr's are not always the best when it comes to treating post VSG patients w complications. Please see your Dr ASAP and insist on further testing until you get answers. I hope you feel better soon!! Dr. Quinones experiences
Keepgoing247 replied to jenna1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My husband and I had our surgeries with him on January 2, 2013. We both love him and are trilled with our results. We had zero complications, and love our new sleeved lives. My husband has now lost 100lbs and I have lost 81lbs. Dr. Quinones is an amazing, skilled, compassionate Dr. I highly recommend him. Feel free to ask any questions that you might think of! I was having back pain, it would get worse at night and after I would eat. I was having gallbladder issues. I now take a RX for the gallbladder and the back pain gone! Just thought I'd throw that out there just incase it isn't due to a change in positron, etc. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I've been very impressed with the Asics. Personally I love the Asics Keyano 19 model. They have quite a few models, and it depends what you need, such as over pronation or neutral, etc.

When I was banded they told me I wouldn't be hungry either...
Keepgoing247 replied to marfar7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no hunger for the first 6 - 8 weeks. Then I started having some hunger, so I started taking Prilosec. What I thought was hunger was really heartburn. Now I may get a little hungry from time to time, but never like before surgery. It usually takes a few bites of food for me to be full again. -
Dreamfields Pasta?
Keepgoing247 replied to labellaskorpio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have used Dreamfields for at least 3 years now. My diabetic mother in law also uses it. She test her blood sugar after eating (as she always does) and she does NOT have a spike in blood sugar like when she eats regular Pasta. I used to test with Keto strips and would eat the Dreamfields on my low carb diet. I never went out of ketosis from the Dreamfields. So, my conclusion is it may not work for everybody but it works for my mother in law and for me. Your mileage may vary... -
