Chewy Vitamin Question
melinda48 replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the gummies but my doctor said I couldn't use them because the hard Gelatin takes a long time to dissolve in the stomach So I gave all the gummie vitamins I already bought to my daughter and had to buy more. -

LOL..my daughter just informed me that when I was still 'out of it' and they tried to put the oxygen hose thing in my nose I slapped it away and said there were flies swarming around my nose...and when my stomach was rumbling I said my stomach feels like that Katy Perry song..Fireworks.. Well I could have said a lot worse! HA Fortunately I didn't, or if I did they haven't told me.

Pretty much. It wasn't as painful as I expected. Don't get me wrong its not easy, but I didn't have severe pain like I feared I would have after having a large portion of my stomach removed. It's more of a soreness and that's at my incision sites. I RARELY take pain pills, so the morphine drip they gave me made me extremely sluggish and sleepy. I told them I didn't want it anymore the 2nd day and honestly for me I felt better without it. I was able to get up and walk then. I couldn't before because I was so 'druggy' feeling. Honestly I hated the blood thinner shots more than anything. They felt like wasp stings. Not so much the actual shot, but the medicine still hurts even after the nurse pulls the needle out. Like when you get stung by a wasp and it still hurts because the stinger is still in your skin. If possible don't let them give it to you by your arm pit. I got the first one there and it hurt like hell. The other 2 were in my stomach (yeah, I know but not bad) and they weren't as painful. I would say what I felt in my stomach is/was more of a rumbly type feeling. Kind of like if you ate something you shouldn't have and your stomach starts rumbling...like that....but for me it wasn't pain.

Chewy Vitamin Question
melinda48 replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought Adora Calcium supplement. Its a round chocolate disc about the size of a quarter and its not bad at all. I have 2 a day (500mg) a piece. I bought Vitamin Shoppe B-12 1000mg Methylcobalamin (read that if you get B12 get the one that says it has Methylcobalamin not Cyanocobalamin). I bought both of these at the Vitamin Shoppe. Here's the article about the B12. It's a very interesting article. http://www.naturalnews.com/032766_cyanocobalamin_vitamin_B-12.html -
Hi Celina. Your weight and height is about what mine was. I'm almost 5'6 and weighed 220ish when I started...then after preop diet I was 217 (I only had 10 days notice before surgery). I had my surgery 3 days ago at Presbyterian Plano using Dr. Cribbins.

Frequently Asked Questions
melinda48 replied to Lilee84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a question. I'm new so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the incorrect forum/way. When someone sends me a message (it says profile feed at the top) and I reply to them....then I go back later to it..I can't see my whole reply...What do I click on or what do I do so that I can see my whole reply. Basically 2 people asked me the same question, so I wanted to cut and paste my reply so I didn't have to type the whole thing again , but it cut's off my reply after about the 2nd sentence and I can't figure out how to see the rest of it. THANKS! -

melinda48 replied to tonibugg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Stacey I have a surgery date of Nov. 2nd and am also using Dr. Cribbins. He was highly recommended to me by my gynecologist of 20 years who is also from Plano Presbyterian. I have read nothing but good reviews about him. Have you been pleased with him so far? -

This is another popular brand. http://www.miraclenoodle.com/

Sorry I didn't realize you were talking about that brand. Yes there are several others. I went to a Asian market and bought a couple of different brands of 100% shiritaki noodles and they were clear and sort of 'slimy' it was kind of like eating gummy worms that were soaked in oil! I then discovered the House Brand and of the probably 7-8 brands I tried I liked those the best. I just rinsed them in a colander and then dropped them in boiling water a minute or so and then they were ready. I ate them with the flavor packets from Kraft macaroni and cheese (they have elbow shaped shirikati noodles), Suddenly Salad, and others.

I personally liked the ones from Whole Foods that have a little TOFU in them...the others are a little slimy for my taste..This is what they look like. You can also get them other places. http://www.house-foods.com/tofu/tofu_shirataki.aspx

Question Why? Two Weeks Of Liquid Diet

Your pre op diet sounds a lot like mine except I can't have any meat. Which actually hasn't been to bad at all. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 2nd. -

Protein Shakes After Surgery...low Or High Calorie?
melinda48 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little confused about the protein powder/shakes for after surgery. I see one of the more common ones is Unjury, which is very low in calories. Since from my understanding I will be only able to (or only want to because of lack of appetite) consume a teaspoon or two at a time and am only getting a few teaspoons a day (? correct)...shouldn't I need something that contains higher calories to keep me from becoming weak/fatigued until I'm able to eat actual food?
