    Insecure husbands?

Wow! That's pretty high! Do you have a link for the article that states 85% for those who were obese prior to marriage? I'd like to share it. Thanks!

    Insecure husbands?

I'm going through this post-surgery. My husband was supportive of it in the beginning. Now that I'm down over 180#, he is trying to sabatoge me. He's always eating pizza and telling me I can have one piece and he knows it's my weakness. We got married when I was 450#, eight years ago. I could barely walk prior to surgery. In fact, I was bedbound. I did this for my health, though. He keeps saying that he's afraid I'll leave him, but yet, he's not giving me any attention. He's always playing his video games and when I say something about it, he laughs at me and says he can't believe I'm jealous of a video game. He's the one attracted to BBW's and more likely to leave me when I get too small for him. He is always "liking" BBW model's pictures on his Facebook (I see it in his feed). I confronted him about it a couple of times and he's like, "I'm just supporting them!" Just yesterday he said he's afraid that I'll leave him when I weigh less than him (which he is 250#, so it's not that long before it'll happen). I'm like, yea right, you're the one that likes BBWs. He keeps insisting that he loves me, though, and would never leave me even if I got to my ideal weight. I don't believe him. He's never been there for me, emotionally, but I never realized it until after my surgery. I've thought of leaving him, but I'm still physically dependant on him until I have a knee replacement and financially I need his income to pay the bills. We've already went banktrupt and can't do it again for five more years and we just had to sign up for a combined credit program where they save us money by negotiating with our creditors. He won't do couples counseling, as he's against me going to counseling as it is. He gets mad at me if I fight with him after seeing my counselor, as he claims the counselor is encouraging me to leave him. I have had a counselor do that in the past. I don't know why I'm so dumb. Anyway, yes, I deal with a very insecure husband and maybe I sound like a "B" for the reasons I am staying with him. I really do love him, but I'm getting very tired of this.

  5. I was under the impression that my surgeon's office would have to submit paperwork to Medicare for approval of the sleeve. In Wisconsin, it is covered as long as you meet their requirements, which I do. I was talking to a friend who is having the RNY and she had to sign a waiver that she would pay if Medicare didn't. She said that there is no pre-approval for Medicare. You basically take your chances and hope they will pay for WLS. Is this true for every state? I'd appreciate any information that would help! Thanks in advance!
  6. That's awesome! Great job! Thanks for sharing! It gives me hope that I can lose the weight I need to with the sleeve instead of the RNY!

    High Bmi

  8. Hi. I have 300# to lose. I don't have a date, yet. I started at 436 with a BMI at approximately 85. I met with the surgeon and he said he would operate once I got to 400#. The NUT told me that they won't do WLS on anyone with a BMI over 80. I began my weight loss program October 24th. So far I'm down to 420. I've been losing faster since I saw the NUT on December 4th and we went over a menu for me. Because of my immobility, I am on 1200 calories a day. I know of one lady who has lost 300# so far and she started out at 500#! It can be done with the sleeve, no matter what others may say! Don't give up hope! I just have to have a few more tests, be on a bipap machine for at least 30 days, and lose 20 more pounds! I'd like to lose a bit more than that because scales can differ. Good luck!

I live in Beloit, WI, but will be going through Froedtert in Milwaukee. I don't have a date yet, because I have to lose 27 pounds before Dr. Gould will do the surgery. Otherwise, I'm done with all of my pre-op appointments.

289 Lbs To Go. Is It Even Possible?!

I'm 5'0" and 428 lbs. My BMI was 85 when I saw the surgeon and he doesn't feel comfortable doing the RNY on me. He feels that the VSG would be safer. I still have to get under 400 lbs. before he'll do the surgery, though. Good luck!

    High Bmi

My current BMI is 84 and my doctor wants me to lose at least 35 pounds for surgery. That would make my BMI about 77. :-/
