    just wondering

    Not like coaching soccer
  2. Thanks, Andy! I walk 25-30 miles per week. I will begin C25K today and start weights I. Another 2 weeks. I worry that 600-800 calories are not enough on one hand, but worry increasing my calories may slow down weight-loss. I do want to maximize my weight loss in the first six months. Perhaps I will try slowly increasing to a thousand calories for the first six months.
  3. Hi Andy, This is SO HELPFUL! I am only four weeks out. To date I have lost about 20 lbs and need to lose ~ another 100lbs to reach my goal. I am assuming that at this point I should be eating in the low calorie weight range. I am consuming between 600 to 800 calories daily with 75-80g protein. Should I remain at this level until reaching go then slowly increase to TDEE? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Something in my sleeve....

Sannah, why is your sleeve abnormally small? Was it cut that way intentionally? By accident? I ask because I have a similar situation, though in my case it was not intentional.

    Are you vegetarian?

JProx, I agree. I felt fabulous when doing raw as well, but it was so unrealistic (long term anyway) for me that I didn't mention it. Vegan/low sugar, I think I can manage long term if it works with the sleeve. I have a friend who told me that diet (vegan) would be too fibrous for bypass patients. Hope it's doable with with the sleeve. I had some complications with my surgery so at 4 weeks out my diet has still not advanced past the full liquid stage.

    Are you vegetarian?

Thank you all for your comments. I felt best when I was eating a low sugar vegan diet and I am happy to hear you say it is possible. Curious, have any of you read The China Study. Interesting stuff. Hathery, what did you nutritionist think if your being vegetarian with a sleeve? Did she think it would hinder your weight loss. There should be a thread for vegetarians.
  7. Niki I am so sorry to hear that you are still having problems. I certainly understand your frustration. I'm thinking of you and hoping your troubles are resolves soon.

    Are you vegetarian?

I feel best when I am eating a sugar-free, whole food, plant based diet, but I'm not sure how well that would work with my sleeve. Any sleeved vegetarians here? I have not followed such a diet in years, but when I did, I had tons of energy and felt great.
  9. Hi nailsbyniki, how did the bypass surgery go? My sleeve was made too small because of surgical error. My doc is considering a number of options--one being bypass. I'm very nervous about that idea.

In need of size 24-25 formal dress

I have a very flattering size 24 formal dress in black. It's Alex Evenings. I bought it at Von Maur and wore it once.

    Antidepressants

I had the weight gain problem with Prozac as well and really ballooned on abilify. Three different docs told me that the only antidepressant that doesn't cause weight gain (and in some people is known to cause weight loss) is Wellbutrin. It is not an SSRI. I am now taking Wellbutrin and actually lost weight on it until one brilliant doc added abilify. Then I ballooned again. I am now on Wellbutrin and a small dose of lexapro. I have not seen any additional weight gain.
  12. Aime, I respect your decision to tell everyone in your life, and I'm glad that you're comfortable doing that. It's a personal choice. I think you should respect our decision not to.
  13. I only told my adult son because he is taking me to the hospital and his girlfriend. No one else.

    Michigan Sleevers

@DreaDrac congrats! I just had a small set back today. Was told by BCN that I need 6 mos supervised dieting. I had six mos documented but it was WW and they are no longer accepting on-line journals. Disappointed, but it's okay. I will get there it's just going to take longer than I thought.
