How are you feeling??
-
Although I had complications, it wasn't able to drink plain Water until 7-8 mths post op. I lived on G2 Gatorade. Now I can't go without my water, but I use Crystal Light 99% of the time. The trick was finding flavors I could tolerate. Which is only one rt now. Everywhere I go I have my flavored water with me. Even out shopping. Before I decide if I am really hungry and want to eat, I drink first and see if that takes away my hunger. A lot of times it does. As far as shakes I can only tolerate Jay Robb and Muscle Milk Light. Mixed with water.

People don't recognize me!
hollyr replied to MommyofFive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too funny. I have had the same thing lately.(I have lost 110lbs) One of my gf who had not seen me in over a year thought I was a total stranger. My MOM walked past me in a bathroom as I washed my hands. Lol. You look fabulous. Keep up the great job! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Goals; What are you looking forward to MOST?
hollyr replied to unbesleevable1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Funny you mentioned rings. I just got mine back from the jeweler yesterday. Pre op I never thought about my fingers getting smaller but they did! I had to go down 1.5 sizes. I have lost 100lbs so far. The one thing I used to dread the most was "will I be able to sit in the booth" like at a restaurant. Even now I get that thought in my head. But an pleasantly surprised I have no problems sitting in one now. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

I think you may have convinced me...
hollyr replied to Bombs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a leak that nearly killed me. Literally. I would not do it again. My family went through so much when I was sick and I have PTSD from all I went through to live. Weight loss is 90% mental. This is a tool only and people learn how to cheat w it. I will never gain my weight back bc I went through too much. I refuse. But also bc I now see food only as fuel. I drink Protein shakes and eat my Protein Bars. I seldom have real foods bc my stomach doesn't tolerate it. I also go to the gym 5 mornings a week AND 4-5 nights a week. My food addiction turned into a gym addiction. My point is this. I had convinced myself diets wouldn't work and only this surgery would. Reality is I could've done it. It takes a mental change to be successful. I had just given up on myself. Just my thoughts. Do what is best for you. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I tried a marshmallow and the sugar was too much for my tummy. For me sugary stuff makes me break out in a sweat and get lightheaded about 10-20 minutes after I eat it. So needless to say that feeling is not worth it for me. Good luck. ???? Sent from my iPhone using VST

Ok I gotta vent. I apologize ahead of time. Sunday my husband tells me he doesn't like how fast I lost weight or how I look. (In a nutshell) says he liked me far and not used to me now. Ok hurt my feelings but I can see a small point. I have lost 84lbs six months tomorrow. I had horrible complications after surgery and just now eating small amounts. Them tonight at the gym he points out to me a chic he thinks is hot and wants to meet. ( we have a unique relationship ). Let me just say I weigh about 40lbs more than her and she truly was not attractive. I told him my thoughts and now he is mad at me. For real mad. Like not talking to me. I nearly died with this surgery. All I ever wanted was to be thin and attractive. He always looks at hot Chics which I can handle. But to tell me he doesn't like me now. I dunno what to say or do. At one time I would've eaten a bag of chips. Now I am just pissed Good thing I see the shrink Thursday. He will earn his money. Thanks for letting me vent. Gonna go cry now. Thank you to everyone who has replied. I appreciate all the comments (good and bad). We have been in counseling both together and me solo. I think it is helping. The comments he had said previously has stopped and I think he is starting to accept and enjoy the new me now. He is also joining me at the gym at night ( I go twice a day during the week). And he is getting over his own insecurities. He never wanted me to have this surgery. One reason was because he was afraid something would happen to me. If you have seen my other posts you know that the worst did happen and I nearly died from this. Literally. I believe he was angry at me in a way just as he was my doctors because none of this started off positive. I am 8 mths post op and still have significant issues. But again we are talking about it and communicating more than we ever did. Thanks again to all who have replied both publicly and privately. Holly Sent from my iPhone using VST

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I am going to see if he will go to therapy with me. I am kinda a hot mess. My therapist is treating me for PTSD from all my complications and long hospital stay. Just add this to his list of Holly issues. Sent from my iPhone using VST

When we got together I told him the staring at hotties had to stop. I took it bc I was fat. After time I gave up and thought whatever.. So us doing stuff together was the only way I "knew" what/who he was doing. In my mind it was better than cheating. I did the surgery for me 90%. But the rest was in hopes I could stop the wandering if I became hot. I have gone through so much and he was at the hospital w me every day 2.5 mths. I thought we had gotten closer but now I am wondering. Thanks to everyone for their replies. I appreciate it and will figure out what to do. I don't want to be unhappy any more. I had my leak within a week of my surgery. (Prob went home with it). I spiked a temp and had severe left side pain I saw pics and reports from the surgeries to place my stent My leak was caused from a staple that came out closest to where my stomach met my esophagus. My dr said that is unusual. Norm is the tissue between the staples that leak. I won't go into all I went through but have spent a total 2.5 mths in the hospital. (Most recent readmitted in March). I am on disability still until May. But after my last admission starting to feel better and actually going to the gym. Cardio only. Good luck. I hope you have a safe recovery. Uggghhh...I Can't Decide Between Self Pay and VA Procedure
hollyr replied to cerenatee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My insurance requirement was 6mths in a row of diet counseling. It went by really fast. I had complications after surgery (done in November) and am still not up to par. Just one hospital bill, out of 4 admissions and 8 surgeries, was over $180,000. That is just a drop in the hat of my bills. But I am very glad I waited and used my insurance. I owe a lot of money but not nearly as much as I would have if I had done self pay. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hi Ashelaine, Thank you very much. . Yes I am from DFW. I had my surgery done at Med City Dallas. And that is where I stayed for 7 weeks. I can't say enough great things about the staff there. (8 South is their Bariatric floor). Holly Sent from my iPhone using VST
