2 Month Surgiversary - Down 58 lbs!

Well, first of all m surgeon makes a point of telling me the sleeve is a tool in conjunction with many other lifestyle changes. However, my sleeve has given me a chance for a new life more than anything else in the world. With that being said I decided I would eliminate white foods like Pasta, bread, white potatoes, bagels, etc. I have overeaten on starchy foods most of my life. This doesn't mean there won't be a time when I do have some pasta, etc but I have found it quite easy to eliminate these types of foods since being sleeved. I started walking immediately after surgery. My first attempt, 10 minutes and slowly worked up to 45 minutes. Once I was cleared to go to the gym I got my butt in there. I go 3 days a week and spend an hour minimum to an hour and 20. For now that schedule works best for me. I use the elliptical and I strength train with a trainer or on my own. I start out with 10 mins on elliptical and than I start the strength training, I workout in intervals. Strength train 15 to 20 minutes and then back on the elliptical and repeat. I always get a minimum of 30 mins cardio but try to get an extra 10 to 20 mins at the end if I can. As far as food, I eat between 650-800 calories a day. I use my fitness pal. I do count the calories in my supplements e.g., liquid Vitamins and Calcium chews etc. My NUT says don't worry about calories but focus on Protein. I get at a minimum 65 grams of protein at a minimum but almost everyday 70-80, 80 especially on workout days. I change my food schedule daily as far as what I eat. On workout days I do have a half cup of steel cut oats for Breakfast. I have poached eggs 1 and a morning star sausage patty. If I'm on the run I will have a 30g premier Protein shake but I make a point of getting my protein through food. I eat rotisserie chicken (no skin, just breast meat), boneless skinless chicken thighs which I make in crockpot with crushed tomatoes and seasonings. Low fat cheese sticks and shrimp (loaded with protein). I also make turkey meatloaf once a week and enjoy salmon and a tablespoon or two of a mashed yam. I recently had 3 oz of filet mignon...I chewed chewed chewed and I felt fine. Red meat is not a staple in my diet but I will have it for a special occasion going forward. I hope this helps. I'm sure I'm missing some other foods but honestly I eat alot of the same foods. For the first time in my life I eat for nutrition and energy instead of mindlessly stuffing food down all day. Please message me anytime. But remember, I'm only 2 months out, I am certain there are many advanced members who may offer even better information to you. Im a work in progress. suppose you have to find which works best for you. Best of luck and Happy New Year. -

Tomorrow will be 2 months. I have never been so happy with my decision to have sleeve surgery. My sleeve is a tool and I'm dedicated to my life changes by going to the gym (cardio and strength) and eating clean. I truly believe 2013 will be my year. I'm starting to find myself again. -

Bump In The Road Surgery 10/29 Biopsy Needed During Surgery
sleevegirl108 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am being sleeved next Monday. I had an ultrasound of my thyroid 2 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease (Hashimotos) last year. My nodules have shrunk (taking Synthroid) however my lymph nodes around my thyroid and neck are enlarged. I am scheduled for an MRI of my neck tomorrow then off to see a neck surgeon Wednesday. My Endo says it makes most sense to have the lymph node biopsy during sleeve surgery. I will see my stomach surgeon tomorrow to discuss further. I was thinking he can do the neck biopsy rather than bring in the neck surgeon. Anyway I'm nervous this week to begin with and now I have to worry about a neck biopsy/result pre and post surgery. I was wondering if anyone else experienced something similar? Thank you so much!
