I've lost around 23 pds....I still have 5 more days to go. I want to reach the 30 pd mark but my surgeon isn't requiring me to lose any. I have had my ups and downs in regards to the liquid diet. More like I have my good days and my bad days. Keeping busy at work (they are starting to freak out because I'll be gone for 2 wks ) and working out in the evening has helped me get through this diet. I am in the home stretch and it's kind of a part of me know. I guess this diet isn't so bad because it does prepare you for surgery but also will help after wards when you have to do the 2 week liquid diet again....well at least for me. I give you kudos for not diving into the steak or the mac & cheese....I know I would be

I told myself the same thing and last week I was dropping 3-4 pds a day. It's my second week of the pre-op diet and I've averaged 1-2 pds a day now. The weekends are the worst for me but I only have one more of those before my surgery. You can do this....

Yes, you will do great Will be thinking and praying for you today.

Ok, so this is mostly a funny post but I have heard that your stomach makes a lot of noise after the surgery. That is ok but I have to say that mine had been really active since I started my pre-op liquid diet last week. It has been especially noisy this morning. Boy if it's like this after it's going to be interesting!!!!!

Wondering if its possible
Shannalee replied to daisykarebear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does lose hope that you can lose the weight. I started this process weighing 425 so I have a lot to lose but I know that I can do it. I have a friend who had the surgery in November & she has already dropped 120pds and she started above me at 435 pds. It is do able and you ca do it. Just remember that everyone here has a certain amount of weight to lose, some more than others. But one thing to remember is that we are all here to help you be the best person you can be and help you through this process. My surgery is 8 days away and there has been moments of doubt if I can do this or not but looking at what I have been able to change in my life in such a short time makes me more confident that I can get to my goal weight. You can so do it and I will so be your cheerleader -
Also, you might want to try using myfitnesspal.com. It helps you keep track of what you are eating and how much. It has helped me a bunch during this time.

I am starting my journey
Shannalee replied to caitiegirly07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been in this process for almost 9 months so the excitement in the beginning has turned to nervousness. I'm 11 days away from my surgery and I never thought I would get here. Everything will be worth it and you have admitted something that a lot of us have put in the background.....you want to love yourself. I think we all had that problem in the beginning but we all are doing this for ourselves and we all will do great -
I threw tons of stuff away that I didn't need but once it's done you don't feel as guilty. You realize that you are doing this to be healthy. I really do hate the frig during this part. I live alone so I guess it's easier for me but my frig has only 3 things in it - chicken broth, jell-o, and bottled water. I've pretty much have isolated myself during this part of the journey. Work has been challenging because of the candy drawer we have but I will walk around it to avoid it. Heck, my mom had the surgery on Feb 5th and she has done everything so wrong. She wasn't as restricted as I was on my pre-op diet. This place has helped more than I realized until this last week because I am so close. We're here to help and I know that it's been a life saver

Don't be discouraged...3lbs is still a lose. What does your diet consist of and when do you eat each meal? This might be the issue cause it was for me in the beginning.

I am starting my journey

Congrats on taking the steps to starting this journey. We are all here to answer your questions and help you get through this. First things first....remember to breath. Someone told me that in the beginning and it has helped. You will struggle but you will do great and you will feel great. Keep us posted on your progress -
Mine is not but because he is requiring me to do the liquid diet 2 weeks before he was certain I was going to lose weight. My goal is to be under 400 but that is my goal and not my docs.

I was doing the 3 shakes a day and was just having a hard time just like you mentioned before. This should help you and if you are still having issues come here and I'm sure we'll help you figure it out

Thanks. I still have the weekend to fight with and all next week. I think that being on a schedule with my food has helped. It's crazy how I am just dropping all this weight. I can't wait to see how much I drop before surgery.

First - breath You will be fine. Trust me when I started my liquid I was doing it wrong then my nut made some suggestions and it has helped. I am eating about every 2-3 hours and this has be a life saver. This is what I have been doing.... 7AM Breakfast: 1 scoop of muscle milk protein powder in 12 oz of water 10am Snack: 1 scoop of muscle milk protein powder in 12 oz of water SF Jell-o (this is what has saved me) 1pm Lunch: 1 scoop of muscle milk protein powder in 12 oz of water 4pm Snack: 1 scoop of muscle milk protein powder in 12 oz of water SF Jell-o 7pm Dinner: 1 scoop of muscle milk protein powder in 12 oz of water 2 cups Organic Range Free Fate Free Chicken Broth (trust me when I say this will taste awesome) If I get hungry at night I go for the Jell-o. I also try and get in water aerobics a few times a week. I know that you can do it and will do great. Head hunger is the worse and trust me I still have it. I wanted tacos from Taco Bell last night but went straight home and had my broth.

So far so good....well I'm only on day 5 of the diet but so far I have lost 18 pds I am trying not to think about it to much but when I do I get a little nervous. I guess I'm so focused on my liquid diet that it really hasn't been that bad. I'm getting more encouragement that I'll do good so that has been helping. I just can't believe that it's almost here!!!!!

I right there with you tinkycheeks.....I am on day 4 of my 2 wk liquid diet and I'm doing ok. Of course the weekend will be the hardest. I can't wait for this to be over too......

Can I drink Muscle Milk?
Shannalee replied to Vramos721's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm doing the reg muscle milk before surgery and switching to the light afterwards. However, I'm not sure what my body will like or not. My nut says that I should be able to tolerate the muscle milk but we will have to see. -
I would love some receipts. I have a pintrist account and it's under Shannalee Smith....that's also my facebook account.

A co-worker found this article about gastric bypass....it is an interesting read and I think it will help those that are still in the research/decision stage. http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/lifestyle/2013/04/17/gastric-surgery-produces-beneficial-genetic-metabolic-changes/

I know....I was thinking the same thing.

I'm doing the same thing. I got a binder from my surgeon as to what will happen after the surgery regarding food. I have been researching everything I can puree. So far I have a few ideas! May is going to be a great month

I just recently changed my settings and I don't see red anymore Where you can do this is under food go to settings then go to goals. They are both under the food tab. You will want to select Change Goals and then you will select custom. This will allow you to change anything you need. I hope that this helps.
