    IM GOING BALD!

My hair loss started at 3 months and ended at 6 months like clockwork. I'll admit, I lost about 60% of my hair. I had some very thin spots that I just made sure I kept my hair combed in that area. It started growing back around month 7. The thin spots have all filled in and I have about 3 inches of wild re-growth all over! I'm 1 year out now. So, it does grow back, but it will take time. I've been slowing cutting my hair so it meets up with the new hair quicker. My guess is it will take about a year, but at least it's happening. For a while, I was afraid to put my hair in a ponytail because I was afraid it would break off all in one piece! But it won't. It is scary, but knowing that it will come back makes it more tolerable. Make sure you're getting in lots of Protein and Biotin!!!!!
  2. I'm feeling a bit discouraged. I'm 11 months post-op and I've been at the same weight since April. I know I haven't been eating terrible, but I know I haven't been eating great either. I know I need to up my exercise too. Has anyone else stalled for this long and then been able to get back into routine and lose more weight? I've got about 40lbs to go. Just need some encouragement.

    NSV

Just looked at my hands and realized that my "cabbage patch hands" are gone!! You all know what I'm talking about....how the fat in your hands causes those big dimples in your knuckles....i.e, cabbage patch hands! Lol. Not any more!!
  4. 8/6/12 Sw 267 Cw 194 Down 73 lbs I just hit my longest stall (about 5 weeks long), around the holidays, and it was very discouraging. However, the scale is finally moving again! I'm 20 lbs from my docs goal weight for me and 50 lbs from my personal goal. I'm wanting to get there by the 1 year mark.

Husband picked me up for the first time in 15 years! Sounds stupid, but made me teary eyed!

    Post-op Bowel Changes?

I'm 6 months out. The first few months I had horrible constipation that landed me in the ER one night. Since then, it's slowly gotten better, but I still experience constipation. Before surgery, it was completely the opposite with my IBS. Not sure which one I'd rather have! Lol. Even though I still battle constipation now, it's manageable. So, it DOES get better!
  7. I feel like we all are so much alike and have been through the same things and emotions. I'm 5 months out and never thought I'd feel the way I do now. Down from 267 to 198 today. I worried about "enjoying" food again and, as my username shows, I have a sleeve of steel. You will be able to enjoy potato skins again, just wait until you're on "all foods". I can enjoy anything, just in smaller portions. It took until about month 4 before I felt like I was conquering my food addictions. It's MUCH easier to say no to things now because of the restriction I feel. Soda is my biggest challenge. I haven't had a drop since surgery, but when I'm around it, I still feel like a "popaholic".....but I don't touch the stuff and it IS getting easier to miss. I'm probably not as strict as most on eating nothing but healthy foods, I want to still enjoy life, just in smaller portions. So far, it's working. My body tells me when I've had enough, restriction-wise and carb-wise. Just listen to your body. It gets better, easier, lighter, sassier, happier, wiser, cooler......and again, easier!!! Stay strong and keep a support system around you!

    Almost out of the 200's!

I was the exact same starting weight as you. Sleeves 8/6/12. I hit 199 on Dec. 26th! My goal was Christmas.....one day off still counts for me! I hovered at 202 in a stall for 10 days, it was mentally excruciating!! Then I hate pretty badly on Christmas Eve and Day and boom... Down I went in the scale! Every time I'm in a stall, I up my calories for a couple days and the stall breaks. Everyone might not agree with that, but I discovered it on accident the first time and it continues to work for me. Now I'll drop about 10 lbs. in 2 weeks and stall for a bit again. It's been that way the whole time. Once you hit "Onederland". You'll feel like a different person and be even more motivated! Good luck and hang in there!! Let us know when you reach Onederland!!

    Wonderland!

My goal was to make it to Wonderland by Christmas. Surgery date was Aug. 6th, starting weight was 267.....today, just under 5 months, saw 199 on the scale today! 68 lbs gone and still losing over the holidays! LOVE my sleeve! Wish I would've done it 10 years ago.

    Wonderland!

I meant "Onederland"! Either way works though! Lol

Is anyone sorry they did it?

No regrets! I truly believe that you can't make a true assessment until your on regular foods. I went through the mourning food phase, but you're right, taste becomes soooo much more important now than quantity. I can eat anything I want in much smaller portions. I'm 4 months out and couldn't be happier. Down 65 lbs. that I never thought I'd lose!

    Onederland!

Congrats! I can't wait to join you too! I've been hovering around 204 for a few days. My goal is to see Onederland by Christmas!

    Curious? Any One In Cincinnati?

The pre-surgery diet from curry is either 1-4 weeks depending on your BMI. Mine was 2 weeks of Medifast. Honestly, I found those 2 weeks the most difficult because my body was going through detox and I was so hungry. But, I lost 14 lbs., so that keeps you motivated. Drink lots of water!

    Pre-Opt Test

I'm a patient of Dr. Curry. Sleeved 8/6/12, down 60 lbs. and zero complications or food intolerances. Haven't slimed or thrown up once! They are great! He does not do a leak test unless you have problems. Good luck and hang in there. It will change your life.

    Nsv

Two NSV's today...... Had to cut 9 inches off my belt and got called a "skinny ass"! Even though I'm down 60 pounds since surgery and still 67 pounds from my goal, it felt good to hear that! I laughed at my friend that said it and then immediately went to my room to shed a small "happy tear".

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

My surgery date was Aug. 6th, 2012. To date, I am down 57 lbs. I seem to be slowing down quite a bit in the last couple weeks. I'm hoping its just another stall. I've only had one long stall (2-3 weeks long) and they are frustrating! Just wanted to check in and see where everyone else's stats are at right now? I know everyone is different, I'm just curious and need the reassurance.

    When Do People Notice?

It was right around 40 lbs that people started noticing. Plus, that's when I finally had to go buy new clothes. I always wore baggy shirts. Now things are more form-fitting and definitely noticeable. I'm down 57 now and some people still don't say a word.....I'm thinking they just don't know "how" to say it. Keep working hard and as long as YOU notice and feel better, that's all that matters!

    Sleeved Patients W/ Pcos

I have PCOS and I am 3 month out. Since the day of surgery, I've had 3 periods, all about 28 days apart. I have not had regular periods for 15 years! I've lost 55 lbs. so far, which seems like a normal rate. I didn't have a lot of the other PCOS symptoms, but I did have infertility and heat/cold intolerance. I am beyond trying to get pregnant at this point in my life, but the weight loss had been great and I am much more comfortable temperature-wise. Good luck!
  20. I remember something similar in the first few weeks (I'm 3 months out now) when I would blow dry my hair. Any time I reached above my head, it was somewhat painful and I got very weak. I just figured it was part of the healing process. It went away not long after that. But maybe you should call your doctor just to be safe?

    Your "large" Incision?

Mine is on the right as well. Guess it depends on the doctor?

    August 6Th Sleevers?

I was sleeved Aug. 6th. Starting weight was 267, today's weight is 214, so a total of 53 down. I' m 5'5. Down from a 24 to a 16. I can definitely eat more now, but that sounds normal. It's healing. Just keep measuring your food.
  23. So, I decided to go through my closet and drawers today and weed out what I can't wear anymore. All of this was prompted by my teenage daughter telling me everyday that I need new clothes because my shirts have become dresses and my pants sag. Lol. I have to admit, it feels pretty good. Two full baskets so far!
