    freezing ?

You should let him! I am under my electric throw right now. I LOVE it. So, I am pre-op and cold all the time now. I can't imagine this getting worse, but I'm sure it will. My dad was the same way and so are my siblings. I think we have poor circulation.
  2. What is tour current weight and how much are you wanting to lose? When I decided to have this done, I was 205 lbs. I am only 5'2" so that put me at a 37.5 bmi. I knew I wanted this weight off as quickly as possible and I am down to 182. I have stayed at this weight for about the last month. I hope to lose about 5 more lbs before surgery on the 18th. I don't think you will regret losing before surgery, but you may regret not losing. Good luck to you.
  3. I read a post (not sure if it was here or OH) about a lady who had a leak and in her post she was saying how she wasn't sure if she dreamt about eating a piece of chicken if if it actually happened. Does this sound at all familiar to anyone? It was long and I read it awhile ago and even them I don't know that it was a current post. Anyway, after reading it, I came to the conclusion that she likely caused her own leak.

The crotch is always the first to go

Still pre-op, but I so hope this can be a reality. I can't tell you how many pair of jeans my thigh's have worn out. :-(
  5. I haven't been sleeved yet, but I am beginning to get worried about how my stomach is going to react. I know that the first few weeks wil be rough regardless. There are some foods I just don't tolerate we'll now: steak, certain pizza sauces and tomato sauces. Sometimes I seem to have diarrhea randomly and suddenly. How have those of you who have had a sensitive stomach pre-op reacted post-op?

    Sensitive stomach pre-sleeve

Thanks so much. This makes me feel better.

Your right. It's there on your first post, but not the 2nd. Strange.

I can see both? Maybe your settings as to what you are viewing is wrong? I am being sleeved by Dr. Avarez on 1/18. :-)
  9. Susan, Dr.Alvarez's coordinator told me 30.5 is their cut off. I don't know if that .5 is just what they tell patients to give themselves some cushion, but she seems very firm that he simply won't do it if your bmi is below that #.

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Oh my gosh, I hope you didn't think I was questioning you personally. I have heard the term excess weight loss (EWL) a lot lately. In fact, I was looking a some research on VSG last night and that term was all over the place. Your post just reminded me to ask what that term meant and if there was a clinical definition or not. Good luck to you!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

That is crazy. I would think it would be incredibly easy to manipulate data for research purposes. If the surgeon sets the patients goal weight fairly high and the patient just does okay, but never reaches goal, the surgeon could say his patients average 85% of EWL (or whatever the % is) which sounds great, but the patient could be overweight or even obese. Unbelievable that there is no standard. Too bad it is so arbitrary. For me I consider my excess body weight to be anything over a normal bmi.

    Surgery in Mexico?

I am going to Dr. Alvarez who has performed around 4,000 vsg procedures and gets rave reviews. He is a little pricey at $8700, but the peace of mind is totally worth it. He has a YouTube channel called endobariatric with tons of testimonials on there. He also speaks very good English and seems like an overall great guy. Good luck with your decision!

Week 17 and 18 Progress - With Pics

You are really looking good! I am going to dr.alvarez on 1/18/13. I hope to be as successful as you. I have about 65 lbs to lose. Keep up the good work!
  16. All day I kept thinking how next year will be when I'm 11 months out and hopefully at goal. I wonder how I'll handle it and if I will get grief because I'm not eating much. I am not sharing this surgery with extended family. Hopefully by that time I will have figured out how to handle those types of situations. Thinking of just saying I gave up sugar and carbs and that it's too if of a weakness for me.

    Ho Ho Ho!

I can't wait to be post op. I have gained a couple pounds over the last few days due to all the treats around (and alcohol) and I'm sure today and tomorrow won't be any better. I am guessing this is the last time I'll enjoy Dixie pie-- it is so rich!. I am going to recommit at the 1st of the year and then surgery on 1/18/13. Can't wait!

    Let the healing begin!

Hey, I don't want to butt in, but you might want to be careful with that potatoe soup. If it is made with milk, your new tummy may not be able to handle it. I am still pre-sleeve, but I've done a lot of research and the milk intolerance is very common. Congrats on being sleeved!!

    Cleaning Closets

I am the same. I have lots of size 8-1x. I have lost about 25 lbs and surgery is on 1/18/13. I cleared out all my 1x stuff and cleared out stuff that I know I won't wear regardless of what size I am.

    Scared of...

I'm scared of: Any complications from surgery -- from leaks to being afraid that I will have so much swelling that I can't drink Water. It being obvious I had WLS surgery when I am out with my friends for lunch and such. Not being able to maintain a healthy weight. I feel confidant that I will lose my excess weight, though. Difference in what we eat vs what normal people eat

It sounds like this surgery has really made you mindful of what you are eating. You are talking like some healthy, skinny person! Congratulations! Enjoy the holidays with them and continued success on your journey. BTW, how much have you lost?
  22. Did you have a revision or were you a virgin sleever? My surgery is scheduled for January. Hunger and portion control are my 2 biggest issues. One of my fears is that I'll still be hungry after surgery. I am trying to eat a lot of Protein, I guess to help mentally prepare myself for the upcoming changes. Even when I get a lot of protein I am still so hungry. I am concerned because I feel like there is no way I can really be hungry because of all the food I've eaten, but I still feel hungry. I am concerned I will still have this feeling after surgery. Can anyone relate?
