Something similar happened to me about 3 weeks after surgery. I couldn't hold anything down and would gag/vomit until my tummy was sore. Yes, I was taking Prilosec. I ended up being hospitalized for a week for dehydration & malnutrition. Worst experience of my entire life!

How to get my water in?
LionHeart replied to happydaisy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes you have to play around with the temperature. I'm 3 months PO. At times, I like it ice cold and other times at room temp. Just recently, I was able to add some flavor like Mio or crystal light. However, I don't add flavor too often b/c I prefer plain water mostly. -
Has anyone with incontinence issues seen an improvement after surgery?

I've experienced the same problem with the food getting cold. I just simply re-heat it as opposed to having that uncomfortable feeling of eating too fast. This is definitely a learning experience and some things will be trial and era. Good Luck!

I was sleeved 11/14. I was doing great for exactly 1 week...had lots of energy and was walking. Then I literally hit rock bottom. I was loosing energy, taste buds changed and I couldn't stand any protein shakes. I was feeling weak. The nurse told me at the 2 week check up that this is normal, but continue working at it. I continued to get worse. My body rejected all food, I was throwing up 5 & 6 times daily. Even flavored drinks didn't stay down. I barely consumed 16 oz in a day. I ended up having to be admitted to the hospital for dehydration & malnutrition. I even had a feeding tube( the absolute worst experience in all my life). I spent 1 1/2 weeks in the hospital. The not being able to drink protein also caused a fowl taste in my mouth. The doctor said that he sees this in like 30% of his patients. I couldn't control what was happening with my body. Having WLS is definitely not an easy way out, it is hard very hard. I am depressed and scared right now. I don't want to be sick again. I don't want to be away from my child not knowing when I'm gonna see her again. I don't know why my body was rejecting protein, why I had constant nausea. Why me? It seems like its random bad luck. If you feel like me, please seek help immediately from your surgeon.

I mixed unflavored unjury with ice tea and it was horrible. I used a shaker bottle and also a blender. Neither worked.

Every since surgery 3 wks ago, I'm struggling jig time to drink protein shakes. They now all taste horrible, leave an after taste or make me nauseous. Therefore, I don't even attempt right now. I'm in the purée/soft foods phase and this is the only protein I get which I know is barely anything. Anyone else having this problem?

Sooo Sick Of Protein Shakes!
LionHeart replied to Strangefruit's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I too can't stand the taste of protein. Just the smell alone makes me nauseous. I'm 2 weeks out and this all started post op. yes, I have a variety of protein drinks & powders. I'm only consuming 2 Popsicles, few ounces of water & maybe 2 ounces of jello if I'm lucky. I feel weak & go back to work tomorrow. So I can relate to a lot of you. -
This Gets Better, Right?!
LionHeart replied to new-me-2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was suggested to take at least 2 weeks off. I'm a teacher, so it's hard enough to take 1 day off. I only took 3 days off, but I've had the week of Thanksgiving also as we were out the whole wk. I'm returning to work on Monday. I'm a bit nervous b/c my energy level has dropped significantly. It was my decision to not take off more than 3 days. -
This Gets Better, Right?!

I was sleeved on 11/14. I was feeling great the 1st couple days after surgery, ironing clothes, walking, shopping, took a ferry to Coronado, went to Chucke Cheese. Then this past Wed everything came to a screeching halt when I went to Sea World. I was struggling to breath, felt feverish, pissed because I'm thirsty but couldn't drink but a sip. I was nauseous & my vision even started to blur. Energy ran slap out. I've basically been in bed every since then trying to regain energy. I go back to work on Monday & starting to feel nervous. I know this will get better once once my diet progresses, but this is my reality. -
I was sleeved 11/14 also. Mentally I'm ready to go back to the gym, physically I'm not. I consume less than 8 oz of fluid daily. It's a struggle...I'm out of energy. Dr told me 15-30 min daily walking & wait til 1st appt to discuss further exercise & diet options. However, I say do what you feel with CAUTION!

I'm 1 1/2 wks post op. I'm struggling with constant after taste from the sugar free & protein. I'm not able to drink enough water to clean away the taste. Is anyone else experiencing this?
