I am still on here. For one thing' date=' have no clue how to join the Facebook link. Every time I click on the link, I am not where I am supposed to be. Anyway, I like coming here for all of the vertical sleeve talk![/quote']I'm still here also!!

Well' date=' after 2 years of contimplating this I went for my consultation today!!!! The amazing thing is that I have really good insurance and and was pre-approved (of course pending pre-op consults) and scheduled surgery for January 11th. Wow, now what? It is it normal to have the fears of the worst things that could happen run through your mind? That is what has held me up for the last 2 years, now it is a reallity and it makes those fears grow. Of course the reason for the fears are the exact same reasons I want to go ahead with surgery, family, health etc..... If someone can let me know this is normal and everyone goes through it, maybe I can rationalize it a little better. Anyway, great day and a busy next 2 months getting these evals done and let me know what you think. Thanks[/quote']Hi there! How is everything going?
-
Have you had you surgery yet? If so' date=' How are you?[/quote']
I read it wrong .... you were 3 weeks post at the time of this post ... nonetheless ... hows it going?
-
I am 3 weeks out and don't regret it for one second! I too had the same exact fears but like SkinnyMinnie2Be said it is a pretty easy surgery and you will be up and moving around within a few hours of surgery. EVERYDAY you get to feeling a little better and by 2 weeks out you won't even really know you had the surgery. When else can you lose 20 pounds in 21 days?!? I know I could have NEVER lost this much weight on my own. I love my sleeve!Honestly' date=' I couldn't tell you that I had the procedure done except for the fact that I just can't take in as much food as I used to - LOVE IT!
You will do great!
Looking forward to seeing you on the losers bench in the New Year![/quote']
Have you had you surgery yet? If so, How are you?

What brand of unflavored Protein do you use? Is it really unflavored? I tried again this morning drinking my Protein Shake and cant do it' date=' i gag everytime. I have spent so much on so many different brands and i cant drink any of them. Also, do you think not getting enough protein will slow my weight loss? I am only losing about 2 lbs a week since my surgery. It seems like everyone else is losing substantial amounts.[/quote']
I bought Isopure and I love it!

What stage is everyone at?? Im on pureed/ soft foods and have been for a week!I start soft foods next week. I'm ready for some soft sweet potatoes and cornbread dressing!

Thanks for the invite Jonathon!
On another note, my surgeon called this am and I am being admitted to the hospital for a few days. He said I need thiamine and lots of fluids. Not just the few liters they've been giving me in the ER. He thinks that will help with the nausea too, but the kidney stones also cause me to be nauseas too. So, well see! Praying this gets me over this hurtle and that I pass the stones SOON!
Definitely prayer for you! This too shall pass....literally huh????~

It's not about medical necessity' date=' which you obviously meet, it is about the plan requirements. I had to jump through the six months of appointments/diet and my plan is pretty much at Cadillac level as well. Everyone involved told me that missing even one visit during that time could possibly mean I'd have to start over so it really isn't personal. Of course if you choose to believe it is, there is nothing anyone can do to stop you. Good luck with everything.[/quote']
I'm so sorry to hear about your denial. I didn't know it was really this difficult for some people.

Gee I can't even get 2 oz a DAY let alone at one time. I put everything I had today into mynetdiary and I only had 67 calories' date=' 1 Protein, and that includes my fluids (still on Gatorade)! praying nothing is seriously wrong. I see GI on Thursday.[/quote']When were you sleeved? I hope nothing is seriously wrong. Are you walking? I find that moving around helps me when I have an uncomfortable swallow. Keep us posted....peace and blessings!

I also had my surgery the 17th of October. I'm a lil disappointed or maybe jealous because i have only lost 10 lbs simce a week before my surgery. I have however been eating soft foods for a few days now. My stomach can tolerate them' date=' so is it ok? I'm not doing good at all with my Protein shakes. I can't get them down. Any suggestions?[/quote']I bought the oh yeah ready to drink shakes and they are tasty. For something thinner I have the Isopure plus and they are fruity flavored.

Oct 18th as well. Doing great' date=' down 20lbs. Does seem a bit scary that things are going down so easy. Getting about 52-60 oz of fluids down a day. But my Protein is good. Yesterday i actually got in 87 grams. I purchased the Isopure unflavored Protein powder and have been putting it in all my cream Soups, pudding and yogurt. Can get in about 3-6 oz of the thicker liquids. But an totally missing chewing food. I start pureed food next Tuesday so can't wait to eat something different but all I'd going great. Good luck to everyone... [/quote']Hot damn! Thank you! Never even thought about the unflavored Protein ...duh!

That was not nice. Jaggy chic has gone through more than most of us here.
I love it.... You not only embrace the fact that you are lazy (hehe) but you have a good spirit! Seriously....glad to see that all is going well. I am still afraid that complications will arise but laughter and the inspiration on this site is proof that we can get through anything. Sleeved on 10/26 and going to Vitamin Shoppe today. The biggest concern I have....none....it's cold out and I would rather sit here and watch TV under my blanket.
-
I was sleeved on Friday 10/26 and currently on the clear liquid diet but enjoying my broth, crystal light, and Isopure plus the most. Congratulations to you both! Keep up the good work and keep sharing!
-
I would say it the same way you did here. Help them by asking them to focus on the positive things....like who is going to have the best arms or whose medical staff was the sexiest! And you are right....they mean well but instead of gloom and doom....focus on the really good stuff.

I was sleeved on Friday 10/26 and released from the hospital on 10/27. I did not drive but went to CVS and Walmart and walked around a little bit. Pain meds are my friend right now so I don't care about driving. This is my first surgery so I am more sore than anything else.

Its called ignorance. I use to think it was the lazy way out also. Then I started researching it and learned that it is hard work and a tool to help you reach your health goals. Now I am two days post open and proud of myself for taking the first step to healthy.
-
I was released Saturday evening and I feel pretty good. Sore is the most uncomfortable part. Milk of magnesia turned out to be my best friend! Today I got my scripts filled for pain. My fiance is frying a hotlink as we speak and it smells good but Im not interested in it.

I understand what you are feeling. My consultation was on 10/1 and I was approved on 10/9. My surgery date was scheduled for 10/30 but I got a call today that I could get it TOMORROW 10/26. I have never had surgery before so I am nervous. I am also excited to begin the healthy living journey!!
-
I'm excited and nervous. I had the EGD today with no issues so that made me more at ease. My BMI is 39 and I can't wait for a healthier lifestyle.

Keep going! The good thing is - by the time my "cocktail" was mixed by the anesthesiologist and they were preparing to wheel me into OR - I was OUT! Next thing I knew I was in recovery waking up thinking....is it over...wow...I actually did it! I've even had the opportunity to drink some of those Medifast shakes and other drinks that have been in my cabinet for months because I could not stay on the plan longer than a week! The sleeve is a GREAT tool and you will be very happy!
Keep on moving - don't stop (that's a song that came to mind!)
