Wondering About Body Parts Sagging.
pieganjane replied to Ladylaurarose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is very individual. I have pretty elastic skin despite being 66 years old. Some stuff is sagging some isn't, again it is very genetic. -
Iggychic, I am new to the site (Oct 15th sleeve) so I am new to your posts. I am so sorry that you went through such an awful experience and hope somehow you can live around and beyond it. I am also sorry to hear that your doctor was so unethical. As patients we are allowed free speech but a site owner of course can take the brunt of it legally. Anyway, wish you well. Was there anything good that came out of your surgery?

When Did You Advance To Mushy Foods?
pieganjane replied to Boofster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don;t rush it. I tried and felt awful, vomited etc. Go slow....you have the rest of your life to eat regular food. -
Good vibes here, it is a scary process but hopefully in the end you will be happier for the decision. There were so many times in the months working up to the surgery that I wanted to run away, hated all the medical tests...but finally they were over and all is well.

1 Week Post-Op Update With Picture
pieganjane commented on blessedw2's blog entry in My Weightloss Journey- 11/19/12
15 hours a day sleeping! sounds like depression and not the sleeve. Is it possible you can get an eval for depression and possible treatment? I am 6 weeks out and flip flop about the sleeve, I wish I could eat like I used to on the other hand the weight is coming off and I feel better. I had the sleeve done right before my 66th birthday. I have no kids, no husband and no siblings. My friends were terrific. I think you may need to start getting new friends, because I know from what I have heard in programs like AA that when you get sober your drinking buddies all run away. Your former friends may have liked the old fat you. When you feel able to get out of bed try and make some new friends. Does your hospital have a WLS support group? -
Hi, ask you doc but mine said that the gas is from swallowing air while we eat or drink and Gas-Ex stopped it right away. Also I buy the protein shakest in powder form then make them in a blender with double the water so they are not so heavy. I sip one over the course of an hour.

If you could have lost the weight (and not regained it) you would have. The sleeve was for me the stop to endless yo-yo dieting or diets that just did not work. It's real surgery, can't change your mind after it, but it works. I think if you have serious doubts....wait. This is life changing and needs to be done only if you are almost certain (we all get scared) that there is no alternative. A person I know from my hometown is 21 and had sexual reassignment surgery last year (woman to man) all of us "bystanders" said WAY to young. But he(she) looks totally happy with the decision.

My NUT has plastic replicas at her office that show what a portion looks like, she has a rubber hamburger, a rubber cheese, a rubber baked potato. I found the best thing to do is buy a food scale and weigh stuff, you soon learn what 2oz looks like or 4 oz. For liquid I buy a big bottle of water that has the amount written on it.

hitting is good ( a pillow) screaming is good (alone in your car with the windows rolled up) Next time you are mad at your brother why not imagine shoving chicken mcnuggets down his throat!

It has been a very up and down journey for me...the surgeon was great, no probs, what freaked me out was how little food it took to feel overly full. I had one bad dumping experience and realized that I will take all the time I need to go from one food group to the next...It is hard to get all the protein and fluids in but if you can you will see results on the scale..I was sleeved Oct 15th

New Here Need Advice
pieganjane replied to Laura81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you are doing anything wrong at all...that is a good amount of weight to lose. -
First of all, I was in a rush when I made the above comment of the routes for medications, I forgot the most common one (oral) duh, sorry. Maybe for those of us sick of protein shakes we can pour them into our vaginas as well...Hee Hee
-
I think you should disregard the nuttier comments and focus on the helpful ones, it is possible that your husband and parents are just scared for the surgical risks or they can't imagine what you would be like if you become thin and healthy. You could try educating them with facts about the operation or even taking them to your doctor for a talk. If it is the second reason, well it is your body and your life and your future is not theirs to decide. Good luck.

Sleeve Verses Rny - Friend Pleading That I Shouldn't Get Sleeve
pieganjane replied to HOLLAND's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't let anyone sway you and don't rush into it. Both Roux N Y and sleeve are serious operations. At first I liked the idea of reversible surgery, but the reality is that RNY has more complications and yes it is reversible but insurance often doesn't cover the cost (very high) of the secnd surgery and it is a serious operation, not like removing a gastric band. Neither are perfect, sleevers loss almost as fast, and the dumping syndrome is less then RNY...They both take adjustment, commitment and knowing that there are no other choices. If you have doubts wait... -
wouldn't risk it...you are so early out. I tried jumping from pureed to soft a little sooner then I should have and had a really bad vomiting episode. I hate baby food chicken but that is what my pouch liked. I am now starting week 6 and just easing into a little bit of ground beef.

The Nuva ring etc can be used vaginally because hormones are easily absorbed by the vagina. I should have asked what your horse pills are? Assuming they are not BC pills or hormones, inserting them vaginally can 1) not absorb enough of the med 2) cause terrible irritation. Meds are mostly used sublingually (under the tongue) by injection or by suppository..but hey just my opinion, it's your vagina so you decide...

Another Week And Still No Test Results
pieganjane commented on pink grace's blog entry in pink grace's Blog
Glad you heard back but make sure they know all themeds you are on which could possibly cause clotting probs. You might want to get second lab tests or talk to a hemotologist -
I am on quite a bit of "head meds" and have been for a dozen years. My WLS doctor told me to take them all up to the night before the surgery and that it was essential I take a xanax the morning of the surgery with a small sip of water...Yes anxiety is normal but a Dr who thinks a patient should quickly detox from psychiatric meds does not know what he is talking about. Coming off those meds too quickly could have VERY severe effects. Don't mean to scare you but question it.

OMG...That is te worst advice ever..last I knew the vagina does not flow into the stomach or vagina...was he or she kidding? Have you checked the doc's credentials?

Starting To Really Freak Out.
pieganjane replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure she had her reasons but that is a really powerful comment coming from a therapist. I think she overstepped her boundaries. As an EMT who sees cause and effect every day eg: you jump off the roof you break your legs etc, I am also having to check my natural instinct to tell everyone my horror stories (and I have a big bag of 'em)..."war stories" are too scary to share, if we listened to them all we would never leave the house... -
The Hardest Thanksgiving Ever!
pieganjane commented on NewBeginningsForMe2012's blog entry in Kathy Tyler's Blog
That is why I opted out of Thanksgiving this year. Usually I go to New Jersey to see my cousins, a good friend invited me to T. dinner at her country club, a guy from the fire department asked me to join his family. I was so greatful for their good will but I knew I would be stressed and miserable so I sat home watched TV and conditioned my hair...There will be many other Thanksgivings.... -
Not sure what drinking wings means but if there is blood you should call your Doc.

Is Tightness In Throat Normal?
pieganjane replied to Dianaw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ask your surgeon, that is what he should be aware of.
