I was in my sixties when I had it done. Not bad at all . lost over sixty lbs. But be very careful, now 4 years later I have gained it all back. It is only a tool and I didn't use it correctly and failed. I'm trying again, have to, my blood sugars are out of control. On insulin 3x a day.

Boy do I need help. I forgot it was only a tool and after I lost 60 lbs., I started eating like a person without a weight problem.. I am 68 years old, had the sleeve 3 years ago and gained most of that weight back. Have insulin dependant diabetes that got worse instead of better, have severe arthritis that limits my physical workouts including 2 artificial knees. I am a registered nurse and should have known better. The only thing I do is water exercise.

Yes Lara, I spoke with him at length at my 9 month visit. He did my sleeve bigger due to achalasia and on the recommendation of my gastroenterologist. He says I still should be loosing even with the larger sleeve. I must admit my compliance to eating the right foods has waned. I started looking better, and got compliments and I got sloppy with my food choices. All I can do is water aerobics due to bilateral knee replacements, and back and neck severe arthritis. I'm a retired nurse , almost 66 years old . He did want me to have a bypass but I didn't want all the problems that went with that. I will be at his goal with another 40 lb weight loss. I hope I can get back on track and get it off and keep it off. To repeat again I dont feel like I had any surgery at all !

Due to severe GERD my bougii size is a 56. My Doctor says twice the size he normally uses. I am almost a year out and am having a hell of a time loosing any weight since 6 month out. I wish I had more restriction. It's like I never had any surgery at all . I've gained a few pounds back from my 60 lb. loss and I am quite discouraged. Please help with some words of encouragement.

My upper arms are disgusting. I lost 60 lbs at 6 months post op but my arms are something else. My PA said surgery is painful and disfiguring with a huge scar. Do they ever get any better? I do light weights and water exercises to tone the muscle to no avail. Any suggestions?

I am a little over 6 months post op. I take water aerobics 3 x a week and walk and do light weights. Need to loose another 30 lbs.and take 1000 of Metformin twice a day. I may have to go back on my Glybyride too. My A1C is 7. Should be below 6 . Sometimes this surgery doesn't work for diabetes.

Down 60 lbs total. Diabetes has not resolved with the surgery and weight loss. Back on all my pre op meds. What a disappointment. Dr. Says due to age (65) and years of type 2 diabetes , probably will not be cured like some here on this forum.

Right upper arm pain (put on side during surgery?)
ckunes replied to katikati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be from the blood pressure cuff that they had on you to monitor your pressure throughout the surgery. Happened to me once after my many surgeries . Took a long time to resolve. The doctor said some nerve damage. -

Rash is spreading on my chest and shoulder..Im not allergic to anything ..
ckunes replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have probably become allergic to the antibiotic. Stop it, take some Benedryl and call your doctor in the AM -
I wished I did as well as all of you. I'm almost 6 months out and I ate Placzek(polish sweet bread )with rasins and coffee cake. Not good did better this evening with shrimp and laughing cow cheese and celery along with a virgin bloody mary. Swimming in the am. And dancing to a polish band at a Dyngus Day partying the evening!

The water is the most important thing right now! Dehydration is dangerous.
