15 days post op and freezing!

Yeah, my husband sleeps with a sheet and I slept with 4 blankets and a space heater and was still cold. Finally i just broke down and bought a 0° wilderness sleeping bag and have been sleeping in that every night. Lol

    So discouraged...

mrscdp, I don't respond to posts very often but I just wanted to let you know that I understand where you are coming from and I feel your pain with the whole "super slow loser" thing. I am 1 day shy of 8 weeks post op and I have only lost 28 lbs since surgery. I measure and count everything I eat, am drinking Water ALL day, and get all the exercise I can.....still, most days when I step on the scale there is no movement..and when there is (every few days or so), it's MAYBE 1/2 lb. I haven't experienced a long stall, per se, but after the first week I haven't experienced any great losses either. All that being said, I can't remember the last time (because there wasn't one) where I have lost 28 pounds in 2 months! I have days where I read about every one's losses on this forum and it is REALLY hard not to get sad or discouraged that my losses have been so much less than what I thought they would be at this point...but even though it's hard, I try to stay positive and be excited for every NSV, every 1/2 pound loss, and every day I reach my water/protein intake goals. Having bad/off days can be expected for everyone, and that's okay, but my advise would be to please try to think positively about the losses you've had and get excited about all the upcoming losses in your near future....focus on your daily goals and it WILL happen. Keep on keepin' on, girl....we can do this!!
  7. From the album: my journey

Day 1 of Pre-Op (258) to 3 Weeks Post-Op (229). My husband kept telling me I looked thinner but I couldn't see it till we did a side-by-side.
  8. I was a little discouraged this morning because I am only a couple days past 2 weeks post-op and this is like the 4th day in a row that the scale hasn't budged. So, instead of freaking out and giving up (which I probably would have done in the past) I decided to take my measurements. The last time I took my measurements was only about 9 days ago so I didn't expect a huge change but I just wanted to test the "if you're not losing pounds, you're probably losing inches" theory and boy am I glad I did!.... 1 inch here, 2 inches there, 1/2 inch here and there, for a total of 6 inches lost over the past 9 days! I'm not gonna lie, I still desperately wanna see that scale start moving down again but I'm SO excited about my first NSV that I just wanted to share it with my sleeve-friends and to hopefully encourage those who are also going through a "stall" to check your measurements regularly because even though I was sad this morning, now I feel re-energized and re-motivated to keep going! :)

    My First NSV!

Thanks Kcinpa! My weight loss ticker includes the 12 pounds I lost on my 2 week pre-op diet but I never could've lost and kept off 25 pounds in 1 month (let alone 6 inches in the last 9 days) before my sleeve and I couldn't be happier!

    SAVE ME!

I work in a small office and today they ALL decided to order some delicious steak fries from a local deli. THEY SMELL AMAZING!!! The smell of fried potatoes and salt and ketchup is all around me and I can't escape!!!! I am barely 2 weeks post-op and still on a full liquid diet so obviously I won't sneak one but I just wanted to vent my "frustration" to all my sleeve buddies who know how I feel. Thanks for listening...I'll go back to my protein drink and try to think about something else now. lol
  11. Just wanted to give a quick shout out to all my January sleeve buddies and especially my buddies who have their surgery scheduled on January 22 and start their 2 week pre-op diet today. Good luck to everyone and I'll be praying that these next two weeks go by successfully and as quickly as possible!

    Day 1 of Pre-Op Diet

My doctor has me on a 1200 calorie, mostly liquid diet with a light meal for dinner. He has me drinking these protein/meal replacement powder drinks during the day (nasty) and then for dinner I can have a small piece of chicken and some veges. It isn't the most strict of all the different diets I've seen on here but I'm still starving! lol. Good luck! I know we can do this!!

  15. Hey All, I got a question about the MFP profile setup process: I am about 3 weeks away from my surgery date and have been researching like crazy and it seems like a lot of people are using MFP to track their food and exercise so I thought I would sign up and try it as well. I just set up my profile but it seems like the profile questionnaire is seriously lacking in options for people who are having/have had a VSG. When I entered my weight, goal weight, lifestyle, and 2 lbs weight loss per week (highest weight loss option to choose from) it said I should be taking in 1370 calories, 188 carbs, 46g fat, and 51g Protein per day. I know these numbers are way off for VSG patients so I guess my question is, how can I change the daily goal calorie, fat, and carb intake to reflect the recommendations given by my NUT? I am not computer illiterate but I must be doing something wrong since I haven't seen any one else on here mention the same problem. Please help! Thanks, ericarae11

    My Fitness Pal Set-up

YAY!!!!! It worked! lol Thank you!

    My Fitness Pal Set-up

When I go to "Edit Profile" it asks me about where I'm from, why I want to lose weight, etc.....no preference options. When I go to "settings" and click on "update diet/fitness profile" it asks for my height, weight, lifestyle, birthday, etc......no preference options. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've clicked through that entire website and can't figure it out. Maybe my computer skills aren't as great as I thought they were. lol
  18. Just wanted to share my excitement that my surgery date is now exactly 1 month from today on January 22! I've been counting down the days for months and now that it's getting so close I can hardly contain myself! I'll be busy the next couple weeks with Christmas and New Years so hopefully the time will fly by and I'll finally take my place on the losers bench before I know it.
  19. good luck! prayers and thoughts are with you!!
  20. Thanks everyone for all your ideas and suggestions! I shared the ideas with my husband and he likes "sexy naked night" the best. lol. We're gonna make a list based on all of your wonderful comments, try all of them, and see which ones we'd like to add into our weekly routine so we're spending a lot more time being active together instead of just sitting together watching tv. Thanks guys!!
  21. So.......my surgery is on January 22nd and I couldn't be more excited. I've been thinking and dreaming about all the possibilities that my new life will bring once I'm not lugging all this extra weight around. I've also been planning as much as possible for my 2 week pre-op diet and the first weeks after I get my sleeve. However, one rather large aspect of my life that I desperately want to change but haven't figured out the best way how is my sedentary-ness. My husband and I work at a desk Monday through Friday from 9-5, come home (usually with chipotle), turn on the Netflix, and eat in front of the tv. Even after the food is gone we usually have so entranced ourselves with whatever tv series we've been obsessing over that we don't turn the tv off again until we go to bed. Now I'm sure that you are thinking that this is no way to live, especially for a person about to get a sleeve and has a dream to be healthy and skinny.....I completely agree. The problem is that we've been doing this for so long that when I say "no tv today, lets do something else", we can't think of anything we want to do and end up in front of the tv. I know that this boredom and laziness (not to mention the fact that whenever the tv is on I feel like I should be eating something) has been a huge contributing factor to my current weight problems but it's like I'm stuck in a rut and can't get myself up off of the couch to do anything else. My hope in writing all this is that someone somewhere in this forum has gone through the same issue that I am having and found a way out of the rut and into a life more interesting and fulfilling. If that person is you, can you please give me some tips....ideas.....suggestions for some new hobbies that I could try that would help me start living a less couch-centered life?
