April 2012 a group of us went to Las Vegas. We decided to zip line down freemont street. There is a weight limit of 250 pounds and I almost was turned away. I was horrified, devestated and fed up. I realized I chose so many of my activities based on my weight and not only was I missing out on life my kids were missing out on life too. So weight loss surgery had been on my mind for awhile. But until then I figured I just needed to work a little harder at weight watchers or herbal magic or nutri system or jenny craig and I just needed to exercise more. And the scale in Vegas was just the slap in the face I needed. When we arrived back home I took 2 months to convince my husband this was something we needed to do, that it was the $13479 USD price tag. Then took a month of eating everything I shouldn't while we got the paperwork done, medical approval and selected a date and started my pre-op diet. The first 6 weeks I cried, I was nauseated and wasn't allowed to move past the liquid phase until I was no longer nauseated. I finally had enough and with a fellow sleevers help I started adding some soft foods, turns out my blood sugars were too low making me even more nauseated. Its been pretty much smooth sailing ever since. My weight loss is a little slower then other August sleevers but I'm ok with that. I want to lose 20 more pounds...and then maybe set another goal of 20 pounds. I can't seem to wrap my head around possible weighing less then 150 pounds.
