    Hair Regrowth?

I actually still colored my hair during the 'loss' period and it was fine. I just touched up the roots. There is NO WAY I was going without coloring lol.

    Drain removed tomorrow! EEK!

I didnt have a drain with my sleeve but did have my appendix out 6 months after my sleeve surgery and had a drain. I also had one with my gallbladder surgery. The worst part is all going on in your head, seriously. I was a basket case about it too and they came out so quickly that I was like "that was it?". A pain killer certainly wouldnt hurt but it didnt really hurt, its a strange sensation but not really pain if that makes sense.

    Hair Regrowth?

I started losing hair around the 3 month mark and I noticed regrowth around the 6 - 7 month mark.
  4. Here is what the website says: All Natural 2 oz. Deep chocolate Kosher VitaTops with real cocoa, chocolate chips, whole wheat & organic sugar. Each muffin top contains 100 calories, 1.5g fat, 9g fiber & 4g Protein. So you still get your fiber AND a little protein. They are delicious. I put them in the microwave for about 45 seconds and bam, yummy! I buy mine at Jewel but Ive seen them at Target and Walmart too. They are in the frozen section. Deee-licious.
  5. Went to the surgeons yesterday for my 9 month follow-up (technically its been over 10 months) and received 2 high-fives and a hug from my wonderful surgeon! He said that my BMI was finally in the 'healthy' range! 98 pounds lost so far and he could not be more pleased. 2 more pounds until Im in the 'century club'! Things just kept getting better...went to Old Navy and bought a pair of super skinny jeans and took a photo of them side-by-side with my fat jeans that Ive saved for comparison. Wow. All in all, it was a great Monday

9 month checkup and 'healthy' BMI range

My hubby held up my new pants and said 'did you ever imagine your pants would be so tiny?' then he ran upstairs and pulled out the big pair that he had stashed. He gets very excited for me lol.

    Yoga

I did take regular yoga (regular as opposed to hot yoga) and I was over 200. I found it very difficult because I couldnt hold myself up for one and second, I wasnt doing the breathing properly because in a lot of the poses I was squishing my diaphragm. But what I was able to do I found beneficial. I still felt great the next day, my hips were open and my back felt more aligned. So because I know I loved it when I was heavier, I started going again once I was healed but I started taking hot yoga (bikram yoga in a room heated to about 100 - 105 degrees). Now Im addicted. What helped me most when I was heavier and just starting yoga was using the blocks and straps. Once you keep dropping pounds and become more flexible you wont need them as often. I still use them to this day sometimes. Good luck to you.
  8. Yay!! Congratulations on your awesome success!! I too love me some yoga, its really helped keep my pounds steadily (although slower than most) dropping. Plus it really helped tighten up my sagging skin. Keep up the great work!
  9. Good job! When Im craving something because of that "time" I go for some hot chocolate (skim milk with sugar free chocolate syrup) or a chocolate covered strawberry or vitatops makes a double chocolate muffin top that has vitamins and fiber and its nice and rich. That usually quenches the hormonal craving for me.

9 month checkup and 'healthy' BMI range

Nicely worded lol. I think 'slow' is relative compared to the rate that others tend to lose. Its actually 98 pounds since I started my journey. I had to do a 3 month medically supervised diet prior to surgery. Post surgery Ive lost 78 in 9 (or 10) months. Sound better?

9 month checkup and 'healthy' BMI range

Yes TJL Im a slow loser for sure. I thought when I got past the 6 month mark that it would slow down even more and it actually picked up a little. Strange I know but Ill take it lol.

Handling the Holidays with a Baby Sleeve

In the beginning my family felt a little strange about eating in front of me until I explained that it doesnt matter. There are always going to be people eating large amounts of food in front of me, its on me to deal with it and I dont want anyone changing their habits on account of me. Plus, I dont get hungry so its not like Im dying to eat 5 pounds of food in a sitting lol. Everyone is used to it and its not even an issue.

    How has your relationships changed?

I found that my real friends are super supportive and celebrate my success with me and the 'fake' friends gossip behind my back, are fake to my face, look me up and down when they think Im not noticing and are petty and jealous. Oh well. Im glad that I have weeded out my fake friends though, sure cuts down on the amount of Christmas cards I need to mail out
  15. 5'4 here and 10 months post-op, 97 pounds lost (so far). The only thing that my height had anything to do with was that my surgeon said I could have the single site incision because I was on the short side. I too call phooey on your doctor.
  16. Look at you glowing! Beautiful. Congrats.
  17. I actually just described my noises as trumpet sounds like there is a tummy parade going on. Luckily no one has actually heard it except my husband who thinks its fascinating and wants to purchase a stethascope so he can listen better. He's strange

    Eggs?

Ive not had a problem with any foods that Ive tried, whether thats good or bad depends on your perspective lol. My tummy does make very loud trumpet noises like there is a tummy parade going on when I eat beans but besides that, smooth sailing.
  19. We have a place called Sushi Station here and they have specials during the week so my whole meal is always $1.25 lol. I can only fit 3 pieces in my tummy and Im done. Everyone else has 5 or 6 plates that have 3 or 4 pieces each on them or more. Its really the only food Ive ever said I wished I could overeat cause its so delicious!

    Undecided - please read on

Im sure when you go on the RNY site they are pro RNY just like here at VSG we tend to be pro VSG (with the exception of those with complications of course). To the leak comment, I was told by my surgeon that after 2 months leaks are pretty much unheard of. But you do your own research and get the facts (not gossip or opinion but facts) on both to help you with your personal decision. Whichever you decide, I wish you the best outcome I did my research as well and chose VSG because of the lower risk of complication as well as not having to worry about malnutrition. I need the restriction as a tool. Plus I wasnt comfortable having my intenstines re-routed. Its what works for me.
  21. Im about 3 pounds from my goal but that was my personal goal, my surgeons goal was another 12 pounds past that. That would put me at 130 and that might be too skinny for me. Once I get to goal Ill be cruising the forum posts on how to maintain if my body doesnt stop losing on its own. Basically Ill be upping my calories with good fats (nuts, avocado, etc. and lean proteins). Congrats on being newly sleeved. Its so exciting and the excitement still hasnt warn off for me 10 months out. I still have to double take sometimes when I look in the mirror. I hope your healing goes well. My best advice for someone early out is to sip sip sip. I cant tell you the importance of staying hydrated. Dehydration is a nasty little monster. If you have troubles with cold liquids, try warm decaf tea. That did the trick for me. To this day I prefer a warm beverage to a cold one for sure.
  22. So far Im at 97% of my excess weight gone and still losing...
  23. BTW: My before and after is on my profile
  24. Surgery day I was 222. Today Im 145 and my skin is ok. My arms sag a little bit (I just dont wear sleeveless things too often), my butt sags a little bit but yoga helps that, my 'girls' sag a little bit because I lost a lot of mass (went from a 44D to a 38C) but fitting into size 8 skinny jeans and a medium top, being healthy, being able to zip knee high boots, being healthy, etc is worth every single sagging skin cell!!!
