When I do drink a cold liquid, I go with Vitamin Water Zero - Lemonade flavor. Although I prefer it almost room temperature.
-
Personally, I drink decaf hot green tea all day because I seem to be able to drink more liquid that way. Cold beverages dont go down very quick for me and I find the sensation of my little sleeve getting cold after drinking something kind of a strange feeling lol. Although Im a little strange so that might have something to do with it

Eating With People Who Don't Know About My Sleeve
notmeanymore replied to alw1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I eat around people that dont know about my sleeve, I tend to order a broth soup so I can act like Im taking spoonful after spoonful. Plus the liquid wont take up as much real estate in your sleeve. Then I usually say that I had a big breakfast and Im really in the mood for soup. You can get around it. I usually eat with people that know about my sleeve and they find it interesting, almost comical at the super small portion I eat. Just come up with a couple good lines and youll be fine. -
I was sleeved on 12/5/12 and thats exactly how I eat. About 2 ounces every 2 or 3 hours. I never really feel 'hungry', more like an empty feeling. I get full very very fast but never to the point of uncomfortable. I usually dont push it much past 2 ounces because I dont want to be uncomfortable but it satisfies me very well. I do have to watch the clock though to make sure I am eating so my metabolism keeps chugging along.

I am only 2 months post-op. Ive lost 43.5 pounds so far (including pre-op diet). I asked my surgeon and he uses a 32 French all the time. He said his patients get the best results from that size. I love my sleeve and my restriction. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I still have a ways to go but Im well on my way and so grateful for this surgery.

Same for me as strange as it sounds...when I stall, I up my calories usually with some good fats like some nuts or avocado. So far its worked every time. -
GNC total Lean Protein Shake?
notmeanymore replied to ShyV.'s topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I really liked these, better than any other shake I tried and I tried A LOT! I drank them pre-op and post-op. Luckily I didnt buy too many but they were the only ones that didnt make me gag. Unfortunately I have lots of Premiere shakes sitting in my fridge. I thought I would be drinking them for a lot longer than I needed. Oh well, they are there for on-the-go meals. But yes, I dug the Lean Protein ones. Vanilla was is favorite. -

Approval letter's surgery date - is it correct?
notmeanymore replied to firelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same thing happened to me also. The surgeons office just has to give a dummy date to get the approval. It was only a 2 week difference in time though. Congrats! -
Taste buds & cravings
notmeanymore replied to asherje's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to be a HUGE coffee drinker and now Im addicted to decaf tea. Its pretty much all I drink. I used to be a HUGE sweet eater but now the only sweet that I really enjoy is the occassional chocolate covered strawberry or some skin milk with a hint of sugar free chocolate added and thats only during my 'hormonal' times of the month. I cant stand white flour anything (crackers, bread, etc), its tastes like glue. I really enjoy tomatoes, fish, cottage cheese, veggies and lots of fruits. -
Spouses reaction 2 weight loss
notmeanymore replied to tpietrowski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My hubby couldnt keep his hands off of me even at my highest weight (242) but now that Im losing (currently at 200) he chases me around even more. Good thing I can run faster now lol. He wants to take me shopping and buy me new clothes and is always telling me how good I look. Im 42, he's 50 (but a super fit sexy 50). I couldnt ask for a more supportive loving husband. -
Successful Slow Losers Please Respond
notmeanymore replied to dlinnh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose pretty slow. Sleeved 12/5 and am down 22 pounds. Coming up on 8 weeks postop tomorrow. Some weeks I lose nothing, some I lose 1 or 2 pounds. I did find that when I upped my calories and good fats (like avacado or nuts) that I broke my stall. I drink about 60 - 70 ounces of decaf tea a day because regular water doesnt go down as good. I prefer a warm beverage. I usually dont have any sugar and very low carbs. Im happy with slow and steady though. As long as the scale goes down and not up right? -
Not disclosing details about surgery to employer
notmeanymore replied to schavez2010's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You do not have to tell anyone why you are having surgery. Thats your private business. My immediate boss still doesnt know and I was out for 3 weeks. You could say gall bladder but its a common procedure and one of the 'gossipers' may have had it done or know someone that had it done. I personally have had my gallbladder out and was only out for a week. If they ask, could you just say "Id rather not say, its quite personal" and let them just wonder? -
For BCBS I had to show the past 5 years dieting history and also do a 3 month medically supervised diet. But if they are only asking for the past 3 months diet history then consider yourself lucky.

all you can eat crab legs!
notmeanymore replied to Mastiff_mama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While it is not recommended at ALL...I had a food funeral myself. As much as you educate yourself about what youll be able to eat after surgery, somewhere in some of our brains we think we will never have delicious food again and its simply not true. Pre-surgery I had a piece of my favorite pizza, had ribs, lobster, crab, wings, sushi, etc. Post surgery I have had lobster (a very small tail), crab (only a couple ounces cause I fill up so fast), ribs (can only eat 1 and Im stuffed lol), wings (can only eat 1 1/2 or 2 if they are small), sushi (can only eat 3 little rolls), etc. I still get to enjoy my favorites but my main concern now is protein. And...Im a cheap date now so there's that lol. I love my sleeve, I love my restriction and I love that my clothes are wayyyy too big for me now. -
HELP! Is the Sleeve Right for Me?!?!
notmeanymore replied to wannabaloser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat very similar to kyllfalcom. I eat something every couple of hours or so. Breakfast is usually a couple pieces of turkey bacon and a very small coffee with non-fat creamer and splenda Around 10 I have about 10 almonds lunch is usually 2 ounces of something. Lately Ive been addicted to the Hawaiian chicken "cupcakes" from www.emilybites.com. They are the perfect meal size for me. Around 2 I have about 10 cherry tomatoes with a tablespoon of blue cheese crumbles and a tbsp of olive oil Around 4 Ill have 2 ounces of lowfat cottage cheese dinner is usually a tilapia filet (it takes me an hour to eat it. Half a filet at first then 30 minutes later the other half) or Ill have another "cupcake" Snack could be some pistachios or a couple chocolate covered strawberries or sugar free popsicle All throughout the day I drink decaf tea with splenda for my Water. Im a tea addict now. -
Dehydration anyone?
notmeanymore replied to dollbaby1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im 7 weeks out and easily get 60 ounces in. I can pretty much drink the same as I did before surgery. I dont have to take tiny sips anymore. I can take rather large mouth fulls with no problems. Plus, liquid will go right thru you. I dont think its possible to stretch your sleeve with liquids. My surgeon wanted me to make getting in fluids my first priority moreso than the protein. But I bought the Unjury chicken broth which has 21 grams of protein per 8 ounces so I was able to get fluids AND protein at the same time. Ive heard some folks find it a little salty but you can just dilute it with more water but either way, its really good. -
biggest regret
notmeanymore replied to rockdutchess82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 regrets... One that I didnt have it sooner. I feel like I wasted so much of my life being unhealthy and feeling sorry for myself. Two that I told people I was getting it. The 'haters' think its the easy way out but if you ask anyone thats had it done, its FAR from easy. Now when I lose weight there are whispers of "well, she had WLS so it doesnt really count". Really? I didnt really lose weight? People are just as mean as they were when I was bigger though. Mean people suck. All that said, Id do it again tomorrow! -
Question about sleep apnea
notmeanymore replied to Michelle1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and had a similar panic attack episode at my sleep study. I just could not do the mask so they tried a nasal pillow for me and it was soooo much better. Even with severe apnea I am able to wear it so with you having mild, Im sure that is an option for you. My machine also has a ramping feature which is a nice mellow flow of air before I drift off into sleep. Once asleep, I dont even know that the full flow of air is happening. Try talking them into letting you use the nasal pillow. I would not have been able to use the mask if they forced me to. -
The dreaded 3 week stall
notmeanymore replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 3 week stall I found that even though the scale wasnt moving, I was still losing inches. Like Decembersleever said, it must be our bodies just catching up. I broke thru mine by upping my calories a bit with some good fats like sliced avocado or peanut butter. I broke thru but it was only a couple of pounds. I tend to lose about 2 to 3 pounds every week and a half. Its slow but as long as the scale doesnt go UP, Im all good with it. Hang in there beautiful. -
Surgiversary! 120 lbs lost! Pic update...
notmeanymore replied to VJSlim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! You are beautiful. -
I was on clear liquids while in the hospital (2 1/2 days) then was sent home with clearance for full liquids for a week. I was cleared for purees after 1 week and soft food the week after if I could tolerate it.
