Help building a WARNING - Worst Slider Foods List

chocolate covered strawberries for me. I dont even know how many I can take down because I havent pushed it that far but after 3, I dont feel full. It cant be all that bad right? Its half fruit And popcorn. I bring my own teeny tiny bag with me to the movies (has only happened once), put a little butter on it and when Im done, Im done. I know Im weak, thats how I ended up where I ended up so I have to be realistic with treats. I always have to set a limit. Oh and dont get me started on Cadbury Cream eggs. They are a little evil. -

Great advice newkat. I had taken beginner classes previously and Im glad I did because they really helped me in my hot yoga class. After so many beginner classes I felt I wasnt being challenged any longer so I stepped it up. I liked that in my hot class the instructor would walk around and watch everyones form to see if they were doing it correctly and if they werent she would help you get it corrected. My class had experts and beginners and everyone in between so I didnt feel intimidated by the experts.

Hi Fiddleman, My tips would be: Make sure you bring a yoga mat and a yoga mat towel. I wouldve been slipping all over my mat if it wasnt for my yoga mat towel. I got mine at Sports Authority for like $25. You lay it ontop of your yoga mat. The under side of the towel is kind of grippy so it doesnt slide around on your mat. Because Im not a master at yoga, I use a block when I need to. If you cant fully touch your toes while standing, I put my block in front of my feet and that way I can still extend my hammy's and have my hands on something. I use it for a few moves actually. People sometimes use a 'strap' also. For instance when we were sitting with our legs out in front of us, they want you to touch your toes and have your feet flexed. Well I have a belly that prevents me and Im not super duper flexible yet so if you put this strap around your feet, you can pull it to keep them flexed. They sell straps at the sporting goods store but its the same as a D ring belt. I just brough a D ring belt with me. I didnt use it but it was nice to have. Its not a must though like the mat towel. Watch others. My class didnt have the instructor doing the moves with you so you could watch. She would just say outloud what to do or what pose to go into. I basically had to watch what others were doing but it went so smooth that no one realized I didnt know the move by its name. The teacher would say things like stand straight up, feet shoulder width apart, point toes slightly outward, put right hand on right knee, keep hips straight, etc. You get the idea. Oh, hydrate a lot during the day before you go to class. This will help you not get dizzy. Bring Water to class too. Get to class early and set up your mat and just be in quiet room to get used to the heat. The heat really isnt that bad. If you feel like you have to rest, just sit in childs pose, drink some water and blot your face with your towel. Its bad form to leave the studio before class is over but if you are sick, of course leave but be quiet. Bring a hand towel for sure. Just know that after class, you will have sweat in every single part of your body. Im not kidding. I was soaked from my scalp to the bottom of my feet. Lastly, after class, hydrate hydrate hydrate. I was amazed that after the 90 minutes I was able to do the moves easier and was able to push farther just in the one session. There were about 10 men in my class of 50 too which was nice. All ages. Let me know if you take a class. Youll be so proud of yourself for just making it through the class. If I can do it, you can do it.

I was scared too but fortunately I had a couple of friends that had done it before and they promised I wouldnt die lol. I got there really early so I could have a nice place in the back of the room to be as invisible as I could and the times that I had to take a break, no one looked or even acknowledged it. Even the seasoned people took breaks so I didnt feel so bad. If you find a place, grab a friend and just check it once. If you dont like it, you never have to go back and you wont ever see those people again. But once you do it, you might really like it.

That would be so icky. Thankfully this facility is brand new and has hard woods floors in all of its studios. They have a studio for 'warm yoga' and a non-heated studio too. I was convinced by friends to join them in the HOT room lol. I hope you can find a nicer facility because I sure feel it. Feel the tingle? That means its working lol.

It was Bikram yoga. Very traditional poses and moves.

Good to know, thanks for the tip. I dont have a BJ's around me but Im wondering if costco wouldnt have the 100 calorie bags. Ill keep an eye out for them.

I actually eat turkey jerky because its a lot less fat. Only .5 per serving and bags I buy (Jack Links) have 3 servings so even if I ate the whole bag which would take me all darn day, its only 1.5 fat. It does have more sodium then other foods but I do not have high blood pressure, drink cup after cup of green tea all day long and dont add salt to any other food so I justify it that way to myself lol.
-
My 3 favorite go-to's lately are turkey jerky (13 grams protein per ounce), tilapia filet (26 grams protein per filet) and soy nuts (roughly 11 grams protein per ounce). I really try to maximize my itty bitty sleeve with the most protein I can get in. In between those I do nutriblasts (shakes with nutribullet) to get my fruits and veggies.

most vile thing I have ever tasted
notmeanymore replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That IS crazy because you are taking in a good amount of water so your PA might be onto something. I didnt have a catheter thankfully. I feel for you though sweety. Having a UTI alone is NO FUN at all but coupled with peeing tiny kidney stones? You poor thing. My stone was 3mm big and I thought I was going to die. But every since then, I think Im passing teeny tiny ones like you described. Kidney stones are no joke! Worst pain Ive ever felt in my entire life and I have over 15 hours of tattoos and multiple piercings lol. They equate it to childbirth but I couldnt verify that as I dont have any children. Thinking of you -

notmeanymore replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had to crush pills for the first 5 days as well. I was worried about a UTI because I wasnt sure I was getting enough fluids and that I had a kidney stone a month before surgery but thankfully I didnt get a UTI or another kidney stone. As time goes on youll be able to take in more fluids which should help your kidney/urinary issues. Just gotta get you thru this rough patch. Hang in there. -
How difficult is it to learn to not eat and drink at the same time?
notmeanymore replied to Simone21943's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought it would be hard to learn not to drink while eating. I could easily have 2 or 3 diet cokes when eating out so before surgery I started getting used to not having liquid within reach while I ate then waiting 30 minutes afterwards to take a sip. It was easier then I thought. Now its second nature not to drink while I eat. If I really need to, I just take a small sip of water if my food is on the drier side. Its amazing what you can get used to if you really want something bad enough. Youll do great! -
Omg omg! Approved today!

Dont even worry about those little shots. I was worried too because I didnt know what to expect. But seriously, it hurts worse to pluck my eyebrows then those little shots. The tiny needle is so sharp that you hardly feel it. Although it does take a little guts to do it the first time but youll be just fine. After all tests and then the surgery, itll be the least of your concerns. Congrats on your approval. I actually cried too when I got mine. -
My best friend is mad at me for having the surgery, and it makes me so sad : (
notmeanymore replied to Hopeful in Rochester's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for your input TES. There is actually no one I would rather be with than my husband. He and I were best friends for 6 years before we started dating so he has been and always will be my #1 best friend. Yes, if something happened to my hubby I would be devastated. I do enojy activities with other friends away from my husband and we have seperate interests as well so in that sense, we are very healthy. Thank you very much for your concern, I mean that sincerely because I know you are just trying to help. Take care. -

Unfortunately I lost my best friend when I told her I had gone to the seminar and decided that it was the best thing for me. She has never been overweight a day in her life so I know its difficult for her to understand the struggles and health complications that come with being obese. Ill give her that but as a best friend, I was shocked and devastated that our friendship ended over it. I was floored that she wasnt supportive. Im healthier now and realize that the only best friend I need is my husband. -

In the times where I had stalled, I was still losing inches too so just because the scale isnt moving doesnt mean something isnt happening. Sometimes the body just needs to catch up with the scale lol. Also, Ive read that when the body loses a good amount of fat, the body replaces the fat in the cells with water and once the body lets go of the water....the scale moves. So drink drink drink. Good luck to you. Only once and it was when I first woke up from surgery did I question what I had done. But that was just one time on one day for one moment. No regrets at all since -

My surgery date was December 5th. Im 3 months post-op. So 35 pounds lost since surgery. Thats 11.66 pounds a month which averages almost 3 pounds a week which doesnt always happen because some weeks I stall but I find that if I up my calorie intake, I break thru it. I know it sounds counteractive but its true. You are having surgery on my birthday -
Food just doesn't taste good
notmeanymore replied to torismom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go thru weeks where I have dont have a taste for anything at all and some weeks where I will just eat the same thing over and over because I actually like that one for the time being. There are foods that I have no desire for anymore like bread, crackers, anything white flour. I dont have sugar cravings anymore either. When I get 'hormonal' Ill have a couple of figs, some skim milk with sugar free chocolate syrup in it for a treat or teaspoon of peanut butter. But thats only that time of the month, other than that time, I dont really crave sweets anymore. -

I am 42, 5'4 and started at 242 with a surgery weight of 222. Today I am down to 187, 55 pounds down from my highest. 55 pounds makes a big difference when you are vertically challenged like myself My sleep apnea is gone and so is my planters faciitis among many other issues from being overweight. Lower BMI's tend to lose much slower but they still lose. Im actually glad that I lose slow because my skin wont sag as much and I may not lose hair because my body isnt going into shock from losing a large amount of weight in a short period of time. My goal is to lose a total of 100 and Im over half way there so Im very happy with my sleeve. Its the best decision Ive ever made for myself. -

Now Im at 12 weeks post op and Im down 54 pounds today. Slow and steady is not a bad thing. I like it because my skin wont sag as much and I may not lose hair because my body isnt going into shock from losing a dramatic amount of pounds all at once. I feel very fortunate to be losing slow and steady. Ill be forever grateful to my surgeon and myself for making this decision. -
Unintended Effects of Surgery

I also get them when Im hungry. Usually just first thing in the morning but its a quieter hiccup then my "Im full" hiccup. Good thing my hubby now speaks 'hiccup' and can tell if my tank is empty or full lol.
