Please give some answers or encouragement

Im also 4 months out and have lost 61 pounds as of this morning. Im so grateful for my sleeve and the energy I can now to do things I could or would not do before. I try not to let the slow losing get to me. I know Im still being healthy by eating right, staying hydrated, taking my vitamins and exercising so I trust that the scale will move eventually. Im not exactly a patient person so I pray that I will eventually get to goal which is only 39 pounds away. When I break it down, Ive lost about 10 pounds a month for the past 4 months (I had lost 22 prior to surgery) so when I think of it that way, it sounds pretty good. Hang in there -
Oh my goodness, I was just reading about the stabbings online. Thank goodness you were spared. Prayers go out to all of those folks that were attacked.

I bet you are dancing on the ceiling!! Thats fantastic. Congratulations!!! -
So I took my first 'hot yoga' class last night. Before being convinced to go, I was afraid of the heat. Being a previously larger person, heat and I were not friends so of course I was concerned about it. But turns out it wasnt the heat that was the hard part. It was the moves. Holy nuts! This sh*t was no joke. I got into the room very early and the heat wasnt bad at all. I had taken previous yoga classes but this one apparently was for more experienced folks because there were some moves that had my thinking in my head "you got to be out of your mind". The times that I couldnt do the move or felt a little light headed, I just sat in childs pose and drank some Water and blotted my dripping face. No one judged and there were people as large or larger than myself which made me feel comfortable. I just didnt have the muscle strength to do some of the moves. Im proud to say that I stayed in the room the whole time and managed about 80% of the moves. When they say you will be drenched from head to toe, they mean it! I know I got a good workout because I slept like a rock and Im sore today. The best part, I lost 2 pounds overnight

My knees get pretty bruised up during those poses. I have to resort to bringing an extra towel to roll up and put under my knee or I was considering bringing one of those gardening pads. They are nice and cushy. Im so sorry that your knee is hurty. Be careful sweety.

I heart edamane so much! I used to eat it 3 or 4 times a week before surgery. I havent had any post surgery yet so thanks for reminding me how awesome it is. Its full of goodness!! I tend to struggle with getting in all my calories, especially on days I go to yoga so the extra calories for me really arent an issue. I think Ill have some tonight Thanks Fiddleman.

Please do your research
notmeanymore replied to Michele in NY's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually didnt know it was an extra risk, my surgeon never relayed that information. I did research it online and watched a few videos. Im almost glad I didnt read anything extra risky, my anxiety level was high enough just having the surgery. But I tell you what, my surgery was totally complication free. I believe the reason for the minimal pain was that I did only have the one incision and it healed super fast. Im grateful beyond belief for my sleeve -

I had the spider technique here in the U.S. My surgeon said that I was a good candidate for it because I am short. He said patients that are 5'6 or shorter he will recommend the spider technique for. My BMI was 41 at time of surgery and I weighed 222 at time of surgery. I have the one scar in my belly button and he actually used the same scar I had for my gall bladder removal. -
How much salad can you eat?
notmeanymore replied to tomato pie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that I can get a good amount of salad in. I eat spinach so I can at least get some fiber instead of empty calories with iceberg. Ill have about a cup of spinich leaves and about 2 ounces of chicken on it with ff dressing. Ill sprinkle low fat cheese on it too sometimes. I was thrilled when I was able to eat salad again. -
Im so proud of us, just sayin'. Namaste friends.

Hi Fiddleman, I still get sore in my back but not nearly as much as when I was first going. Like any other muscle, the back muscles are going to get sore especially because it does SO MUCH. I dont do the extreme back bends like wild thing or camel or anything like that. Im sure one day Ill be able to but with getting more aware of your body and its limits, you will know when its time to push it. Just take it easy and safe for now and make sure you are doing the moves correctly. When its a move that I know I cant and shouldnt attempt, I will sometimes just go into downward dog or childs pose because then Im still stretching out my back but not torturing myself. Im so happy that you are going. I went Thursday and was pretty sore but I used to be sore for 3 days and now Im sore for one and on the second day I can go again. I went Saturday morning and wasnt as sore as usual. Of course there are over achievers in every class. I suppose Id show off too if I could balance on my two hands and kick my feet to the side. It defies gravity damnit!! LOL.

Went to my 6th hot yoga last night and I tell you, I can already feel myself getting stronger. What a great accomplishment. I am no where what I would call 'good' but I sat out less and was able to hold moves I couldnt hold before. Even better, I lost another pound and am now at an even 60 pounds lost!! I love hot yoga and because its not warm enough for outdoor activities yet, its my main source of excersize but once it gets warm, my husband and I are avid bike riders and I will use hot yoga for my supplement excersize. In any case, I love it and will always make time it in my life.

First Yoga class today was actually Hot Yoga - fun!
notmeanymore replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Im so happy for you Fiddleman! You went to check it out and actually stayed for a class. One of my favorite classes is a yin class also. Mine is called Dynamic Yin and I love it. You will get better each time you go. The great thing about yoga is the journey. Seeing how you improve physically and mentally each time you go. Last night was my 6th class (last night was hot at 105 degrees) and I am definitely stronger than my first class. I also lack the upper body strength but I could tell it was getting better. I was able to hold my planks a lot longer than before. Like you, the heat really doesnt bother me so much. The stinging of the eyes from the sweat dripping into them is a different story lol. Its the moves that challenge me for sure. I have little ouchies on my knees and elbows but I feel awesome! Anyway, way to go. Keep it up! -
Big day for Bunny! Im down 60 pounds today! Thanks to hot yoga last night, I lost another pound.

So optimistic. . . then kaploowey!

Not petty. I totally get it. I work with 2 teeny tiny perfect little snots that like to rub in the fact that they just cant gain weight no matter what they do and 'oh no, my size 4's are too big now'. I too snapped one day and got up in one of thier faces and said "continue to tell the fat girl how skinny you are, keep it up". She was like "oh i didnt mean it like that". Really? How DID you mean it then? Ive always had snide remarks made towards me because I wasnt skinny perfect like other people. I wonder if they think karma wont catch up to them one day. -
Yay! Congrats on making to class. There are a few poses I cant do yet either. Before surgery it was because of the belly and the boobs but now its mostly because I just dont have the upper body strength yet but its getting better. I was also really insecure to go. Im still the girl in the back corner trying to be invisible. But luckily my studio has wonderful instructors that come over to assist me if they see me struggling. The room is heavily dim so much that I can barely make out facial features so its a lot better with people with insecurities. The sense of accomplishment afterwards almost brings me to tears. I feel so proud of myself afterwards which is not a feeling Im used to at all. You are right, this sleeve thing is such a journey. Its wayyy more than just a procedure, its a whole new life. Keep up the yoga and keep in touch okay?

I wasnt as concerned about pain because I knew Id have a 'magic button', I was more concerned with urinary tract infections. -
Did you have a catheter ?
notmeanymore replied to natedinsmoor2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have one thankfully. My surgery was December 5th. I also had a single incision.
