ice cold water...
notmeanymore replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. Ive had a problem with cold liquids since surgery. I prefer a nice cup of warm tea or room temperature anything. -
In the 150's now. I cried out of sheer joy yesterday. I hardly recognize myself in the mirror now. I mean I know its me and I love what I see but I still have 'fat girl' eyes and Im almost jealous of the skinny b***h in the mirror lol.

Gone from size 24 to 16 and no one seems to notice? What about you?
notmeanymore replied to Johanna1955's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It took about 70 pounds going from a size 18+ to a 10 for most people to say anything. Like HatheryOnHerWay said, I think they are afraid you might be losing weight due to an illness and especially in a workplace setting, thats a human resources no no to bring up someones weight. -
I completely understand. I dont know how I was able to lug around an extra 76 pounds for all those years. Im only 5'4 so no wonder my poor back would cuss me out every day. Not to mention my poor feet. I dont know if I could even lift what Ive lost. Its astonishing what we became used to. I used to go bike riding with my hubby pre-op and there was this one teeny tiny hill that I would struggle with right? So a couple of days ago I got back on the bike (I had to lay off the exercise due to having hernia surgery a month ago) and we did our same path and after the hill my hubby asked "so how was that hill?" I said "what hill?" cause I didnt know what he was talking about until he told me I used to huff and puff to get up that itsy bitsy hill. Plus my butt didnt hurt from the bike seat like it used to. I love NSV's!

1. Call your insurance company and simply ask if the sleeve is covered and if so, what requirements do you need to fulfill before you can get an approval 2. As with any surgery, there will be some pain involved but the hospital will do everything they can to make you comfortable while you are there. After you are home, there are lots of things you can do to help yourself with the recovery. One of them is browsing this site because the members here are here to help.

I can absolutely ignore it when I need or want to. I dont get ravenous at all. It used to be that I would have a blood sugar drop if I hadnt eaten in a long time but since I dont really eat sugar, that resolved itself. I could go all day and not eat and not feel different. I just use the word 'hungry' around people that dont know about the surgery but in reality, I just feel empty. Underestimating is fine with me too. Less is more now. I dont get a runny nose, I do a teeny tiny burp then a hiccup and I know Im done. Every time my hubby hears my little burb or hiccup he chimes in 'she's full' lol. I do miss the days when I could burp really loud and give my hubby a run for his money. I lose that contest every time now lol. Id rather have my size 10 pants then win a burping contest with the hubby though

Snacking after surgery
notmeanymore replied to Emilysmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to be a snacker as well but I have no desire to snack mindlessly now. I barely get hungry and if its not meal time, Im sipping water so that takes the place of any snacking I might do. I hope your snacking desire gets taken away like the majority of your tummy -
My Dumping Syndrome horror story (read if you dare)
notmeanymore replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im SO sorry you had to go through that. I used have dumping syndrome bad after I got my gall bladder (pre-surgery). Luckily I learned that whenever I put something in my tummy, I had to wait for the explosion before going anywhere or leaving the safety of a restroom nearby. Luckily I havent had any dumping episodes since my sleeve but I did have BEER CHEESE SOUP on Fathers Day and thought I was going to die. My mother literally had to walk me to the bathroom because I thought I was going to pass out. I thought I had gotten food poisoning from some chicken salad I had the day before but maybe it was the beer cheese soup. Ill never eat it again, it may be evil -
Im with you. I do not eat to capacity. Its just uncomfortable to feel so full. Like you I really dont get hungry I feel more 'empty' than hungry. So I just eat a couple of ounces and Im good. Then maybe in 2 - 3 hours Ill have another ounce or two. When my hubby cooks for me he always weighs the food for me but I can pretty much eye ball it now and know what will be too much.

If you get an insulated cooler you could bring some turkey roll ups (sliced turkey with a little green onion and cream cheese), hard boiled eggs, cheese slice, turkey jerky (but not if you have to walk your sodium, jerky has lots). Im sure I have more ideas but my cup of coffee hasnt kicked in yet this morning.

Hair is getting to thick.. Anyone else ?
notmeanymore replied to MariaL1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I always bow to you Kathy But thats awesome that you didnt lose much hair. Im sure thats encouraging to some folks. My mom also went thru chemo but lost tons of hair. It grew back thicker and nicer than before so thats good. I actually got my hair trimmed this weekend and as much hair as I thought Id lost, she told me its not really noticeable so that was nice to hear. Im still not going to cut it off unless I have to when the regrowth starts. -
I go thru phases of foods that I eat for a month or so then I switch it up. But I always have the following in my house: Tilapia filets Tuna eggs Turkey meatballs Low fat cottage cheese chicken breast If you like yogurt then buy yogurt (we keep it in the house cause my hubby likes it) Lean turkey slices I juice so I always have kale, spinich and frozen fruits Ground turkey for turkey burgers Thats pretty much my staples. I add a few things here and there. On Friday I usually pick up 12 wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and they will last me all weekend. If you notice, hardly any carbs and mostly Protein. That alone should be your #1 rule.

notmeanymore replied to MariaL1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No and NO! You will regret it. Just enjoy it because if you are anything like the majority of us, youll be losing it in clumps soon. I certainly like to think that there is someone that hasnt lost a ton of hair but I havent met one yet. If there is one, I bow to them cause they are one lucky mutha-lova! -

Enjoy your thick hair while you have it. Unfortunately unless you are a freak of nature, you will lose a lot of it. Mine started around the 3 months mark and Ive stopped losing at the 6 month mark but now Im waiting for the regrowth. -
sometimes this thing makes no sense to me
notmeanymore replied to vogue's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I joke that its like witchcraft because it just doesnt make sense. When I hit a stall, I will up my calories and eat something that is higher in fat like an avocado or more nuts than normal and bam, stall broken. I do appreciate knowing that it works most of the time but still aim to maintain my healthier eating and physical lifestyle but sometimes you just need that scale to move. -
I have BCBS Federal also and was approved within a week. I love BCBS Federal.

Onederland! And 10 month update :)
notmeanymore replied to Losin4good's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Amazing! I bet you feel as good as you look. And I bet you had to purge every single thing in your closet and buy all new stuff I love that part lol. Congratulations. -
3 month stall?!?
notmeanymore replied to mattsbelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every time Ive stalled I up my calories for a couple of days and bam, stall breaks. Give it a try. -
I bought my dry brush at Target for under $10. It comes with a long handle but its removable. I just use the actual brush cause it has a strap that you slip your hand into. You CAN use the long handle I suppose but I brush better without it. You want to make sure to brush everything towards the heart. Except for your tummy region, that gets brushed in a clockwise motion. If you check Pinterest, there are plenty of articles about it.

My lovely lady lumps have deflated big time. They used to choke me and now...well lets just say Im going to have to get a lift lol. I dont mind though, my shirts fit so nice now and I dont have to purchase larger tops to accomodate the 'girls'. As far as the lower region, no change, just less fatty tissue if that makes sense

I used to be able to put away 2 big macs, large fry, large diet coke and be looking for desert 20 minutes later. Now I can eat about 2 buffalo wings or 2 ounces of chicken or 2 turkey meatballs or 1 scrambled egg. I dont feel deprived, I feel full for sure.
