surgery after surgery
notmeanymore replied to erica_c's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no. At least you can rid yourself of the painful stone(s). I had one before my sleeve and oh lordy I thought I was going to die from the pain. Ive actually had to have surgery twice since sleeve. One was a ventral hernia about 5 months post op and last month I had an emergency appendectomy. Im sure my work wasnt real happy about that either but there isnt anything you can do about that. When surgery is needed you have to do it. Good luck with your kidney stone surgery. -
Quit long before surgery and have not given in. Its not worth it to me. My priority in life is to be healthy and move forward not to slide backwards and die early.
-
The only regret was that I didnt do it sooner. But now Im making up for lost time and life is wonderful! No more thoughts of "I cant do that because of my weight", its all "Look what I can do now!". For example I went to a movie with my wonderful hubby last weekend and sat crossed legged in the seat and my hubby leaned over and said "Look at you. You couldnt do that last year". Things that I couldnt do before I do now with EASE! There are a million things I can do now that I couldnt before. The only tough decision I have each day is what cute outfit Im going to wear lol.

Me too, I went down a 1/2 size. Im actually back to my normal size 8, I had gone up as the pounds got put on. So there are lots of shoes in my closet that I can wear again. Joy

Biggest NSV for me so far
notmeanymore replied to notmeanymore's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks honey. You are right, I really tried my best to be invisible before so its an adjustment to actually being noticed and being ok with it. -
compliment Biggest NSV for me so far

About once a week or every two weeks I have lunch with my mom. We also spend lots of time shopping on the weekends together so its not like she hasnt seen in eons or anything. Anyway, she picks me up for lunch at my work this week and it was such a nice day that I decided to wait outside for her. I saw her pull up in front and I started walking towards the car. I get in the car and she goes "ok, I was like "who is this girl walking towards my car"" She didnt even recognize me at first. Her own daughter who she sees all the time. What a compliment! -
I love spicy food too but ever since surgery I have heartburn which is common with some sleevers. So because of that, if Im going to have spicy foods I have to eat them at lunch or as early in the day as possible because I find if I have it for dinner that my acid reflux is bad at night. Just pay attention to your body and you might have to adjust the time you eat it like myself. Good luck!

Yup, its pretty much inevitable. It happens no matter how religious we are about everything. I took all my supplments, my proteins, etc. Lost tons of hair starting at month 3 but by the 6th month, I stop losing. I didnt go bald, I dont have to wear a hat and Im the only that notices. Im in my 7th month and it has not started growing back yet but its ok. Im down 84 pounds and trust me, Im a lot healthier at 158 with less hair then I ever was at 242 with tons of hair. No one ever said "oh look at how much hair she has, she must be so healthy".

I'm a little hurt..
notmeanymore replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just yesterday a lady at my work is so jealous of my weight loss that she started telling people that Ive been taking HCG and limiting my calories to 500 a day. She doesnt know about the surgery and frankly its none of her business because she is a huge gossip but my point is that jealous people can be so mean and hurtful. How about being happy for someone improving their health and being happy with themselves. What a concept. Hold you head high my dear and screw the haters! -
I cant wait to get to a size 8. Im a 10 right now and still cant believe it. Way to go.
-
I think about that ALL THE TIME. I just cant believe how much food people can eat, myself included pre-surgery. My husband was eating a bag of chips last night, not a little lunch serving, a big bag and he finished it. I had 2 and I was good lol. I see people order like 20 chicken wings and I can eat at the most 2 lol. As a society, we over serve food and its no wonder so many people struggle with thier health. A normal portion size for people takes me 4 or 5 meals to eat.

I can now say this....

I remember the day I got approved and it was one of the best days of my life. I cried tears of joy. I felt like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and all the waiting, the pre appointments, the testing, etc was all worth it. Congrats! Youll soon be on the losers bench. Its really fun here -
How long were you off work?
notmeanymore replied to Cindeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a desk job as well and took my 3 weeks. I probably couldve gone back after 2 though but I was still fighting feeling weak from limited calories but by 3 weeks I had that all under control. -
You will be fine. Just be honest. Itll be over before you know it.

Me too, I fell below the 40 BMI during my two year history and they still approved me. I didnt even have a consecutive 2 year history because I never went to the doctor so they approved me even with a huge gap in time. BCBS Federal is wonderful and from what Ive experienced, very supportive of the sleeve.

I completely understand not believing what you see in the mirror. When I was 84 pounds heavier I would put on an outfit and think I looked so good but if I saw myself in a photo wiht that outfit on it was like a reality wake up call. I looked HORRIBLE! So I struggled with not believing what I see in the mirror. So now that Im 158 and wearing adorable clothes and thinking I look good, I struggle with am I really seeing myself correctly. I dont want to look like fool wearing some cute little outfit thinking Im all that and only to realize people are laughing at me behind my back. But...as Richard brought up, photos dont lie. So I find that to ease my anxiety about not believing the mirror, I take a picture of myself every day and if I like the photo then Ill believe what I see. Does that make sense? So take photos of yourself (full body, front view and side view and a close up face shot) every week or every 2 weeks and lay them out and that way there is no mistaking the progress you are making. I printed out a diagram of the body, very basic, not detailed and made a zillion copies. Every month I take my measurements and mark them on the sheet. At the top Ill put the date and my current weight and then all my inches from my arms, neck, waist, hips, thighs, bust and add up the inches. That way from month to month I can see how many more inches Ive lost and how many pounds. The pounds arent as important to me just because Im a slow loser. I go in spurts but regardless, the photos and the drawing with my measurements really help me believe what Im seeing. I hope this helps you. -
Im a little over 7 months out and went to a concert this past weekend and really wanted to partake so my husband made me jello shots. That way I could just have a little at a time and gauge the affect it had on me. It was the perfect solution. I had 2 and felt a little something, enough to giggle about it and about 20 minutes later I was ready for one more. I experimented and did 3 at one time and it was the perfect amount to get me dancing but not enough to act a fool lol. And I sobered up SO FAST and Im grateful to say that I did not have a hangover at all. I think Ill go the jello shot road the next time I partake. I dont want to sound like I drink often because if I drink twice a year thats a lot lol. This was my first time since being sleeved 7 months ago and I probably wont drink again until next summer. Probably

Whoa Kathy, thats horrible! Dont you love that you come up with the best responses way after you have left the presence of the rude person? Im sure there are a million things you would like to say now. Save them up for when you have to go back. Your justice will be showing them that are dead wrong when it comes to you my dear. You are a champion and not only working that sleeve like a boss but you are the best cheerleader for all of us and we all love you so much. -
Thats funny because last night while I was falling asleep I kept thinking there was something bunched up under my hip bone and it was bothering me. I thought it was my night shirt in a wad or the sheet got all bunched up. Nope, it was just my hip bone Another funny one, now when my hubby smacks me on the butt it HURTS lol. It used to not hurt with all the padding but now, ouch

Average loss with the sleeve is 60% of excess weight?!?!
notmeanymore replied to Nicolanz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories

ice cold water...
notmeanymore replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im with you, I cant do super sweet drinks any longer either. I use only half of a crystal light serving otherwise its like syrup. I dont like plain water so I usually use a Mio flavor, that way I can make it as weak as I like.
