Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
CarolinaGurl replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today was my one year surgeriversary!! Would do it again in a heartbeat! I've lost 80 pounds and went from a size 14/16 to a size 4. I feel so much better and healthier than I did a year ago. It's nice not to ache every day and to be able to be more active and keep up with my little one. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!! -
5 day pouch test review
CarolinaGurl replied to Faith41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't wait to see how the 5 day pouch test works for you. I think I might have to give it a try too..I am nine months out and have been snacking on carbs here and there lately..:-(. Good luck to you!! -
I visited a nutritionist for the first time ever this week and she told me that regular coffee is not good for WLS pts because the caffeine actually dehydrates. Instead of counting it as a plus in my Water intake she counts caffeine as a negative.

Is the diamond brand at Walmart also? -
I ordered the tub from Amazon because the shipping was cheaper. With shipping I paid 39.51 vs 42.45 if I ordered directly from Chike. The prices are 33.51 from Amazon and 32.95 from Chike but shipping was 6.00 with Amazon vs 9.50 with Chike. I guess my post was a little confusing. I did originally order the sample packs from Chike but after deciding which ones I liked best I price shopped and found Amazon to save me a little on the tubs.

Good protein shake
CarolinaGurl replied to IrishErin255's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Chike High Protein + Energy Iced Coffee and Chike Banana Magic are both delicious! 28g of protein per 7 oz. for the Banana Magic and 20g protein for the iced coffee. I just tried Chike 7 mths out and it is my new favorite! I ordered the sample pack 1st off their website and then ordered a tub from Amazon (a little cheaper shipping cost). This is the only powdered protein I have tried that mixes completely, absolutely no clumping. Sooo good! -

I am 7 mths post op and recently ordered a sample pack from Chike. I discovered Chike High Protein Iced Coffee + Energy. This is the BEST product I have tried in my 7 mths. I am not a coffee fan, but this doesn't taste like strong coffee. It is a delicious treat! It has a vanilla flavor and is soooo good! To anyone that hasn't tried it I highly recommend it! It reminds me of the International Delight brand iced coffee u can buy in the grocery store but without all the "extra" calories, carbs and sugar. I ordered a tub of it from Amazon and it came within a couple days and is a little cheaper than their website. -
I recently tried the Chike iced coffee and fell in <3 ! I originally ordered the sample pack off the Chike website. Double checked pricing on Amazon and it is a little cheaper.

GNCs Total Lean ready to drink Strawberries and Cream shake is delicious! One of my faves. Recently tried the Chike brand samples. The Banana magic and Iced Coffee is really good!

Need Motivation and Advice
CarolinaGurl replied to starsleeve's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I needed to read this today! I am one of the lower BMIers but have felt very discouraged lately. I started at 206 and am currently at 150 (sleeved 10/26). I want to lose at least 30 more. My scales haven't moved more than a couple pounds each month for 2-3 mths now. I will be at my 6 mth surgeriversary next week..I'm gonna try to go back to the basics, liquids only for a few days to see if I can get my body to start loosing again.. -

6 months since surgery
CarolinaGurl replied to mrs sandy r's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!! You look amazing! I was sleeved exactly a month after you on 10/26. My starting weight was 206 and I am at 151 now. I haven't lost hardly anything the past couple months :-(. My personal goal is 120. Your weight loss has been very successful. Do you mind sharing what your specific plan was/is as far as intake (carbs, calories, protein) and exercise? How did u break a stall if/when u encountered one? -
Having weight loss surgery was a decision my husband and I made together. For personal reasons I made the decision to keep it strictly between my husband and I. We haven't told anyone not even family. I just did not care to hear all the judgement, opinions, criticism, etc. My issue now is I have an appt with my physician for a yearly exam and also to get clearance to have surgery on my foot. I have worked in the medical profession my entire life and know how nosey office staff can be and the loose tongues some tend to have. Yes there is suppose to be patient confidentiality but let's face it if there is someone that wants to spread gossip that's not going to deter them. My ? Is this..is there any harm if I don't disclose my VSG to my physician and to the physician that is going to be doing surgery on my foot? I don't want it in my medical record for the wrong person to read and broadcast all over town. Thoughts?

Keeping surgery MY secret
CarolinaGurl replied to CarolinaGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually worked with a girl once that would forge signatures to medical releases and fax to the hospital to obtain records on her own family members. She was very nosey and determined to find out info they chose to keep private. You know she didn't keep the info to herself either but broadcast it. She did eventually get fired. Not for that reason but it did all eventually catch up with her. I just have major issues with trust and my privacy. I am proud of my decision to have the surgery and feel better than I have ever felt but just don't feel like dealing with all the judgmental opinions from my family and others. -
Oscar Meyer Turkey hot dogs are delicious! Honestly you can't tell much difference from the regular ones.

had surgery on Tuesday and now severe headache
CarolinaGurl replied to spartanfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just read you haven't had caffeine in 14 days. But it still could be your body's way of dealing with the changes it is going thru. Your dietary habits have changed and your body just went thru a major surgery. But remember if you ever have a concern or something doesn't feel right don't hesitate to call your doctor. Best of luck to you! Hope you feel better soon! -

CarolinaGurl replied to spartanfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you normally consume caffeine products then its more than likely withdraw symptoms causing the headaches. As for the diarrhea, I had it bad for a few weeks. I saw in the forum that not many had that issue but it is perfectly normal. You are on a liquid diet. Liquid in, liquid out. Your body is adjusting. My doctor said It was okay to take Imodium but honestly it didn't help much. -
