Already hit major roadblock "sigh"
greensleeve replied to TatorTot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Talk to your surgeon. Is their office the one requiring it or is the hospital? Surely you aren't the first person to have that issue. -
I ate a real meal!
greensleeve replied to greensleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had sandwhiches for lunch. Well they did. I just had string cheese and ham and it was good! -
Went to my one month appointment today and got cleared for soft food. First time I've eaten with the family in over a month. We had salmon, mashed potatoes and strawberries. It was so nice to feel like a normal human being. I told him at the appointment that I am feeling so lethargic. He said it's because some people just don't have energy on puréed foods. I can't stand puréed meat so I haven't had it in a long time. He said that now that I can eat more normal food I should get my energy back. It feels so good to eat normal food. I don't think I even ate a full cup of food but it was great!

Things I won't miss...
greensleeve replied to GingerSlim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean about doctors! I am going to be so happy when I can just have a medical issue and my weight isn't the first thing they go to. -
Good for you! I had my month appointment today. I'm ok to eat soft solids. I have lost 22 pounds since surgery, 15 before surgery. I ate an actual real meal today with my family. It was very nice. I couldn't believe the small amount of food satisfied me. I feel better being able to eat real food!

I ate a real meal!
greensleeve replied to greensleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was great. Just so amazing now I had maybe an ounce of salmon, a 1/4 cup of potatoes and two strawberries and I was full. And I felt satisfied. -
Trying to find some. I don't want to watch videos. The vids on YouTube are SO long, I just want to see pics of the different lower body options. Surgeon's sites are so limited. Thanks!

sublingual b12 and calcium crystals
greensleeve replied to nancy264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate the crystals too! I bought a box of 100. That was dumb! I just got calcium chewables from the hospital pharmacy and they are much better. -
Has anyone tried this? It apparently is a great substitute for cheese, has a ton of protein and a lot of b12.

Thanks wind fairy!

I would call your nutritionist and ask them. How many calories do you eat a day, how many carbs and how much protein do you get? Are you measuring your waist to see if you are losing inches?
-
Hi chan! What was your surgery date? Mine was 3/25. I was at 315 at my consult, got to 299 on surgery day due to nerves and liquid diet. I'm at 275 right now. I can't believe I've lost forty pounds. It just seems so unreal. I have my month check up tomorrow and hopefully I'll be cleared to eat more regular food! How many calories do you usually average a day? I found out yesterday I have two middle ear infections and I couldn't sleep last night because I kept feeling things move and itch and hurt on there. I just hope this clears up before I go back to work on Monday! Good luck to you!

what is the real reason I became obese?
greensleeve replied to leeann71's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was sexually, physically and verbally abused by my father. Addiction and obesity run in the family. I grew up watching my parents yo yo diet and obsess about it, always trying to find the latest and greatest way to lose weight. I got so sick of hearing about it I just couldn't bring myself to be like that so I rebelled. I had a lot of magical thinking and disconnect between what I ate and my weight. I was in denial. For years I tried to convince myself that I was just fine being fat and I needed to love myself the way I was. I finally realized I was never going to be ok with being fat. I just didn't care what I ate. People say food was their best friend. I just didn't care, didn't want to plan and count and measure. I failed so many times I just gave up. -
How long till you feel normal
greensleeve replied to vincereautmori's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My four week anniversary is tomorrow. Today I actually felt normal for most of the day. I can actually take some what normal drinks of liquid instead of tiny sips. -
Anyone see this last night? Unbelievable!
-
Thank you. I am going to try hard to keep up with my water. I am losing steadily so that's good. I just want to feel better in the process! I'm going to aim for 800 a day and see what that does. Thanks.
-
Hi everyone, I'm at my four week mark tomorrow and I am still having days where all I want to do is lay around and sleep. I feel so tired. I have to go to work next Monday and I am hoping to have more energy by then. I am getting about 600 calories a day. I'm wondering if I should try to increase that in order to get more energy. I'm going well with getting my protein and vitamins in. If I can't get back to a some what normal energy level I don't know how I'm going to make it at work. You have to be 100% to do my job, and then there is the hour in the car a day, dealing with all the house hold stuff and helping my d with homework and spending time with her. How is everyone doing?

Wait until you had intercourse? It's been two and a half weeks and I mentally want to but I'm kind of scared at the same time! I know my husband would like to. I don't have any pain in my abdomen from the incisions anymore. What was your experience?
-
I used to be high desire but now it's like I just don't feel like it. I hope this gets better soon, I'm four weeks out!

If I were you I would find a therapist who works with bariatric people. There are many reasons why you are still wanting sugar. Old habits are hard to break. But also there are I believe a lot of people who gain weight as protection and use food to soothe themselves. If you have trauma in your back ground that could be a huge part of it.

Help with Protein 'shots'
greensleeve replied to browneyedgirl1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually clear liquids includes protein drinks and shakes. I can't stand Isopure, but it could he because I associate it with the hospital. -
Died and gone to heaven!
greensleeve replied to Rena's got this's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Usually jerky has sugar as one of the first ingredients so I avoid it. Does this? -
Really having doubts now
greensleeve replied to hopeful2loose2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on how tall you are. You are having major surgery, of course you are nervous. It's normal, I felt the same way! Good luck tomorrow! -

greensleeve replied to greensleeve's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Sorry I meant before and after plastic surgery.
