I watched this documentary lastnight too - I was surprised to realise (as I'm sure I mustve known before but just not 'thought' about it) that they even condition us from babies, if you give your baby formula... A very good watch and something that I would watch again too.

I've never tried the Premier Protein ones - I had a look on Amazon, and spotted the Quest bars - I might give them a go too - theres a pack with 12 different flavours - is that what you are getting?

Sleeved, now what to do about the gurgling noises?
able2cope replied to Mel24's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm over 2.5 years out - and I still gurgle... its something you will get used to. - Also my throat makes noises - not so much a burp - but more a burp inside my throat - thats 'normal' too - well it is for me. Congrats on getting the surgery -

UH OH I Didn't see this coming

As CanyonBaby said - you are NOT alone. Also fantastic suggestions... This is a new way of life for you and you are about to embrace it. For years we have all surrounded ourselves with food - food was our pastime for many of us - now food isn't so much an option - sure we still need it - of course we do - and for a long time you wll be moving from what seems like one meal to another.. filled with drink, drink and more drinking. but life now is about so much more - so many new opportunities are coming your way. Go out for your walk and plan your new life New way of life x -
oh wow - thats an awesome goal to have - I'd never heard of the disney half marathon until just now - just looked it up - looks great!

Caregiver advice 10 days post op--dehydration and gout setback
able2cope replied to JM1997's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry to hear that your husband has been suffering so much. Most of us feel down at heart and wonder what on earth we have done to ourselves, in the first few days - and because of his complications, this will even be effecting more than 'normal'. As for the diarrhea - our insides have had major surgery and as such go through turmoil at times... it will settle down eventually. As long as he follows the advice given by his health practitioner and keeps drinking, drinking and drinking - even if its just small sips at a time - and also trying to get all his Protein in -thats the important thing. He is lucky to have you there by his side, looking out for him. -
Hopefully you are in the land of Nod right now and managing fine. Wishing you luck

Fiber. Does anyone take fiber supplements? Chewables etc? I need fiber! :)

I am 2.5 years out and due to having to take specific pain meds which make you more bunged up - I take dulcoease and duclolax every 2-3 days if I don't go naturally - not sure if you get that in US as I'm in UK? -
I have a whole new wardrobe - and loving it - put all my old clothes away and don't regret it for a minute.
-
Something just not right about this - big time! Get a second opinion - a third one if need be - just don't give up. Big hugs ((()))
-
Well done on the loss - and welcome to the losers bench The pain will soon subside... just take it a day at a time.

I think I'd be happy to be 150 - just not sure what my bmi would be then... I'm ony 5ft tall though. How long have you been at 148?
-
Today I am embarking on a mission to lose hopefully 14lbs in 3.5 weeks... in reality if I just lose 8lbs I will be very happy - but probably won't accomplish what I am hoping for... as I will be back where I started at 4 months ago (pre-christmas) - I have my appointment with my surgeon on 6th May and he told me that if I lost X lbs then he would put me forward for skin surgery - at the time I thought it would be well manageable... in reality though these lbs are even harder to shift than pre-surgery...That said he is happy with the weight I am at now - its just the powers that be stipulate that I need to be a certain bmi before getting the skin removed. So today its protein only - I've done this before - I can do it again.. and hopefully now that I'm off all diabetes meds it won't be so hard to control - ie, I won't keep going into hypo mode due to lack of carbs.
-
Thanks - I think that I will have a bit of a waiting time before the surgery anyway - I had to wait over 6 years for my original surgery! Things are crazy over here if you go through the NHS - I couldn't afford to go private..
-
I'm so glad you got it checked out and got some meds for it. It's good they are keeping an eye on you. Take care, and try to enjoy the rest of your holiday
-
Thanks Yoga Lady - I'm one day down and did well - although I did have a low blood sugar in the evening.. which surprised me. I jjust need to keep an eye on that I guess....
-
Yeah, its a downer alright - I'm the same size as you though probably shorter... bmi sucks! I'm trying to get mine down so I can get skin surgery.. its more difficult now than it was before surgery!
-
Hoping that you feel better soon - I used to think of my sleeve as a new baby - every new food took a while to either settle or just reject - you could re-try it in another few weeks/months -
-
So sorry you are having to go through this. Hoping and praying for a quick recovery for you. Take care.
