  1. I'm struggling right now too - going back to 'old' ways... eating until I'm super full, and burping all the time too - whereas I should be thinking more about what i'm eating and stopping before I get to 'that point' - I think that 'thinking' is going to be the key - need to concentrate on other things too - get more involved in hobbies, taking care of me, exercise when I can.. really need to do this as, as you say - why did we go through the surgery if we are only going to be going back to our old ways?

    Weightloss and Eyesight

Thank you - I hope so too, but I have a feeling I will have to wait until it gets a lot worse before I can get it better.

10 months out and stuck in a rut

Hi Melissa, I know exactly where you are right now, cause I'm there too. Every day seems to be 'this is the day I will start to be good' - but then something happens and its always going to be tomorrow... I'm 15 months out, still have at least 40lbs to lose - see I can't even decide where my goal is in my mind... I really need to sit down and think about all I have achieved and what else I would like to happen on this journey - and like Tate777 has said, need to make that decision to take ownership. I hope that some of this makes sense to you - or at least you hear where I'm trying to come from. We have came this far - are we really going to stop now before we reach where we 'saw' ourselves at the start of our journeys?

    Weightloss and Eyesight

I think that this is just great! Unfortunately I've got diabetes too, which 'is' getting better but I've some sort of cataract (not the usual type) behind my eye, so eyesight steadily gets worse - hopefully once this is seen too, I will be able to see better too. I'm so glad that everything is coming together for you - its great to hear the success stories of the sleeve

    anyone NOT lost their hairI

i'm 15 months out - lost some from say 9 months to 12 months, but with taking Biotin and silica it has grown faster - so its longer at any rate - longest its ever been in fact - try not to worry - worry won't help it. The sleeve is worth it anyway

    1/27 is the big day

thinking of you - not sure when you will be actually going in, as I'm in Scotland UK, so our times are all different, never mind the different zones in US. but I'm sure all will go well - and your emotions are all normal. x

Foods you can't tolerate since surgery

I've not even tried bread, since before my surgery - abstaining seems to be the way for that for me. some fruits are no good for me, apples (unless cooked), citrus hurts, chicken and eggs also seem to 'stick' Crackers go down way to easy Ice cream goes down too, but it does hurt my stomach after a while - so trying to steer clear of it nowadays (i'm 15months out)
  10. I'm 15 months out - for the first few months I was coming on about every three weeks and they lasted a week each... now I'm starting to get more in to the 'normal' cycle of every four weeks - past couple were five weeks in between though - and lasting the four days... sometimes heavy, sometimes very light - sure enough our hormones are all over the place for some time

From one extreme to the other!

Thanks for this - i'm still fluctuating a lot, but will try not to worry about it as much Its strange though, since I got sleeved, I've discovered that I can actually tell when I'm low, as my mouth tingles - never discovered this in all the years of being a diabetic before!
  12. Hi, I've been diabetic for many years, in latter years controlled by metformin, gliclazide and victoza injection. I was sleeved in Oct 12, and just last month was taken off my injection - having had the gliclazide dosage quartered before I got out of hospital. Now, even though I'm off the injection, I'm finding my blood sugars are going low suddenly - but then can be high just like an hour or less beforehand! I'm having a hard time with this, due to obviously having my food/drink intake limited with the sleeve. How does everyone else deal with this - and what sort of diet are you all on? are you sticking to low carb, or what sort? I've not had any bread products since before the sleeve. Any advice for me out there please?

    What is 5:2?

That sounds really interesting, if anyone has the link, I'd really appreciate it.
  14. Well done on the weight loss - that's fantastic! I don't know what to say about the gas pains - I usually get pains if I drink too soon either side of eating, or too quickly, like you said... As for Vitamins - I know what is like having kids around - but I have my pills, - both meds and vitamins (of which there are lots) an I take them each morning as soon as I get up - I was reading up and it said its best to take the vitamins/supplements that I take in the morning, so that's what I try to do

    Teeth issues? Cavities?

oh my, I didn't even put these together - crystal light and cavities! I've had to have root canal in the past two months too!! My teeth are more sensitive also.
  17. I hear ye - I've been on a stall for six weeks now - and it aint no fun think we just need to persevere. I am considerably further out than you - was sleeved Oct 12, so I'm wondering if that's it - 50lbs short of my own personal goal

    skinny goals

Oh My, there are so many thanks that I would like to do... ski-ing, yes, running - although I'd be content with just walking longer distance to start with Have lots more photos taken with my family for sure! I so regret not having photos from when they were little, but better late than never! At least I will be living longer now (hopefully), so so many more opportunities

From one extreme to the other!

I'm checking my sugars about four times daily - morning, night and after meals - sometimes in between too if I'm not feeling so great... I haven't been so good at logging my food intake up until now, as I work out of the house and just so tired by the time I get home, but need to make more of an effort with that. Will keep that in mind about the difference between gliclazide and metformin and how they effect a person. Thank you,
