oh sure I totally get that - he should be your biggest supporter and cheerleader not tearing you down - part of this journey we've all started is getting the moral support - he definately has some self esteem issues and you working to better yourself doesn't help those issues unfortunately -
-
he sounds like he's very insecure about your losing weight, I think alot of people are in the same boat - my wife has a jealous streak too - maybe there are some things you can do to include him in your quest to be healthier, go for a walk or bike ride together - as for him holding your secret over your head if push comes to shove tell your secret and defuse the bomb so to speak - just a thought

Self Pay and Complications, experiences?
IneedMajorHelp replied to TheFox's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was self pay on 4/30 and had my gallbladder out on 8/27 and the insurance covered it - as far as I know the percentage is slim that you'll have gallbladder trouble - still glad I had it done - the gallbladder surgery wasn't really that bad compared to being banded - not that the banding was terrible either - both went smooth is what I mean -
thats where I am this last 2-3 weeks - no real weight loss but inches
-
has any one else seen this? - there was a McDonald's poster for salad next to the mens locker room entrance at the Gold's location I go to - any opinions on this?

what liquid vitamins do you use?
IneedMajorHelp replied to want_so_bad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
bottle of liqui-max is about 12 bucks at sam's club/costco - bottle lasts about a month -
I was banded on 4/30 and just had my first fill on 9/10 - as long as you're losing 1-2 lbs a week you're fine - it's frustrating I know, but any more than that is unhealthy.
-
3 weeks after having the gallbladder out and finally back to the pool, kicked on the new swiMP3 .v2, and did 72 laps - 1 mile - aaahhhh much better

my surgeon wants me to have the bypass instead of the lapband
IneedMajorHelp replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doc does both surgeries and presented the pros and cons of both and left the decision with me - actually I think he leans toward lapband - bottom line at the end your in the same place either way - the weight is off and now you have to maintain - bypass you have to learn portion control and right foods and excercise - lapband - you're already doing it -
kudos to you sir for being a supportive husband - any surgery is risky - but this really was a piece of cake (oops I said cake) it totally works if you put forth the effort - you can cheat it unlike bypass (correct me here) Lap Band is just a tool but effective - still have to watch what you eat and how much, still have to get some excercise in every day - and it's expensive if you have to self pay but it totally improves the quality of your life, I really can't say enough good about it.

perfect place to have lunch for a bunch of people that aren't supposed to eat pasta - j/k -
yeah in this case I was a bit reactionary - his doctor sounds like he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground - I've just had such a good experience with it and know others who have too that it just kinda ticks me off a little
-
it gets old reading a what a few of these nattering naybobs of negativity have to say about the band - c'mon people educate yourselves before you come on here and bitch and moan about the lap-band - for most of us it's been a very positive rewarding experience -

yeah it keeps me full quite a while but I haven't been filled yet - I go in on the 10th for my first - it's really tight first thing in the morning, it still takes a long time to finish my morning shake -

yeah had mine out monday - goodtimes - just like starting over on the band - back on the liquid/mushy bland - I don't think it's that common my doctor told me the percentage, can't remember exact numbers but it was fairly low -

it gets better - the first few weeks are rough with the liquids and the whole not chewing - I was ornery as catshit the 1st week just ask my mrs. - but you gradually add foods back into your diet - just much smaller portions - we had a family birthday last week - had the whole bbq thing - had a burger (no bun) and a spoon of potato salad and no one is the wiser - this week is a different story, back on the liquid/mushie bland after having the ol gallbladder out - goodtimes -
right on daddy!

yup nioxin hair care products are really good for thinning hair - have you tried a spoonful of peanutbutter in your shake? - little extra protein and makes it taste better too -
definately complain - I go to gold's - I figure if I'm paying for it then I have to right to complain about how they run the place.
