How do i get the glue off...
Traci J. replied to AMannCPhT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told it would peel off on it's own and not to take it off....don't want your wounds opening. But if he said to use fingernail polish remover...that sounds like it'd be painful. -
There are several, but my Dr. said they aren't that great because your body can only absorb so much protein at once so it's kind of a waste.

Going home right after the sleeve?
Traci J. replied to Kris10b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only stayed 1 night. My Dr. didn't do a leak test; they can usually see it while they're in there. If they do send you home, just make sure and get your liquids in as much as you can, walk often, and when you're not walking do ankle rolls and stuff to keep the blood flowing. I wouldn't want to be sent home hours after surgery....that is too soon for my taste, but I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck! -

Dilated eyes after surgery
Traci J. replied to EnigmaInKY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I haven't noticed a problem with dilation, but I have noticed since my surgery I can see better out of my right eye without my glasses. Weird huh? -
Hi everyone, I've just finished all my prerequisites for my VSG and am so excited for my surgery in December. Hope to find some friends that are going through the same journey I am that I can share victories with as well as vent when needed. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey and can't wait to start posting my own victories soon.

It's true, just stick with the plan and it'll catch up. When you're not losing weight you may be losing inches because your body has to catch up.

You taking all your vitamins?

Hey girl, you need to force it. I am 4 days post-op and also have no appetite at all, but I drink my protein for breakfast and dinner and then focus on liquids in between. You just need to find something you can tolerate,...gatorade, crystal lite, fruit water, something. You don't want to end up back in the hospital!

Telling workers or not... and rumors to come
Traci J. replied to beba238's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel pretty good! I had it very easy apparently, I didn't need any pain meds after surgery, was up walking within a few.. The gas pain was bad in my shoulders, but I did shoulder rolls and it relieved it fairly quickly. Not hungry at all either, which is weird, because whenever my family eats and I smell the food, my mind says "should you be eating to", but my tummy says, "not interested". lol Good luck on your journey, you will do great! -
men lose quicker than woman period!! lol They have more muscle which burns more fat

Traci J. replied to haleyj134's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Congrats! That is awesome! Keep up the good work. I'm down 10 so far, but only 4 days post-op

8 weeks out and feeling doubt...
Traci J. replied to Strangefruit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry your Dr. chastised you, that wasn't cool at all and very unprofessional. You've lost 38 lbs. in 2 months? I think that is pretty good, it's an average of almost 4 lbs. a week, which is more than you would've been able to do on your own pre-sleeve. I wouldn't worry about it, it'll start up again, and remember when you're not losing weight, your body is losing inches to catch up. -
Hi ortega. I was sleeved on 12/19 and did well. I didn't need any pain meds,, got in my walking and have been working on getting in my protein. Some advise, if you get gas pain in your chest, shoulders just do shoulder rolls, back and forth and squeeze together...it relieved it fairly quickly. I also would rub my stomach in circles to move it around, just lightly over the incisions of course. I was sent home the following day and as of this morning am down 10 lbs. Just keep your eye on the prize and try not to focus on what you CAN"T eat. I'm not hungry at all, so it's been pretty easy. Good luck!

Congrats. I was sleeved on the 19th and am doing well. It gets easier every day, just be sure and walk to keep the blood flowing and focus on protein. Good luck! -
1 week post op
Traci J. replied to 6'4 Gentle Giant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. said I can have soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes, and cream of wheat at 1 week out; just nothing with chunks in it. -
Telling workers or not... and rumors to come
Traci J. replied to beba238's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly I would just tell your coworkers. I did, and they have been super supportive. I did this for me, not for anyone else, and if they want to judge me or think I took the easy way out, let them. I don't care, I know how hard I tried to lose weight for the last 10 years to no avail, and this was the best option. I am 4 days post-op and am already off diabetes medication and am already down 10 lbs. Good luck on whatever you do. -

24 Hours Until Surgery! Anyone else?
Traci J. replied to Back2Me2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your decision, you made the right one. I was sleeved on 12/19, did not require any pain meds, left the hospital off my diabetes meds, and am now just focusing on getting my protein in. My advise, for the gas pain (which the pain meds won't help) is to walk, and when you're lying in bed, if you get pain in your upper back/shoulders, do shoulder rolls. I also did circle massages on my stomach, very lightly to move the gas around. It helped me alot and relieved the pain quickly. I'm down 10 lbs. already Good luck and hope you have a smooth recovery. -
December 20 sleevers
Traci J. replied to teachbearga1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it's gas pain the pain meds won't relieve that much. When I was in bed I would roll my shoulders forward, backward and squeeze shoulder blades together...that helped me alot when I wasn't walking. Good luck, it does get better.
