Thanks for posting this. Need this reminder!!

It's encouraging to hear from someone who is further out. I'm only 8 months out and find that the more I eat normal food, the harder it is to lose...even though I'm not eating junk. Keep up the good work.

We had to put names on our stuff and it all wouldn't fit in the freezer when I was teaching.

We did a second 5K this morning, a Color Run where they throw powdered paint on you at 4 stations during your walk, and then you can do it at the end. Anyway, I'm hurting now as I ran at the beginning and the end, but walked rest of it. Did it in a little more than an hour. Really pleased with the progress!! My surgery was in Nov. and I'm now 66. Yaa HOO!!!

I'm at almost 8 months out, still get sick if I eat too fast because I waited to long. I don't eat things with lots of sugar or fat....no dumping....

I sometimes start to burp and believe me, I don't want one more bite after that or I will be sick. Make sure you eat slow because at almost 8 months, if I wait to long to eat, I tend to eat too fast and then I am sorry!!

Doc and nut were more interested in Protein, amount of sugar, and fat. I track my exercise, food, and water in myfitnesspal.com. At 3 months, they upped my amount of protein. In August, I have my 9 month checkup. I've lost 75.5 pounds since the end of October. Surgery Nov. 12th. I'm 66 so I lose at a slower weight and I enjoy water aerobics, but hate the walking because of the arthritis in my feet. Still walking my second 5 K in a couple of weeks. Hope that helps. Carol

I actually had my stomach growl last week......My surgery was Nov. 12, 2012. I still have problems getting some food down, but one night I just wanted to eat and eat. I just made sure that I was eating protein and veggies. When I want something to crunch on, I eat dill pickles. My PA had me increase the amount of protein I was eating instead of being at 60 grams.
Good luck with this...

Yes, the gas pain is hard, but keep walking and sipping a little at a time. It gets so much better!!

Thanks for sharing the story! That had to be hard to do and I admire you! Are there women's shelters that you can go to to keep your son and yourself safe??? That is important. I'll also keep reading! Wish I knew how to help!!

I also had one after surgery and got a new one. They had to cut it to fit my body which helped.

66 and training for a 5k. If I can't run it, I'll walk it. Off all my anti-inflamatory meds, too and had knee replacement 2 years ago in April. 20 minute mile today and I had a hard time walking a mile before surgery!!! Yeah!!

I was told I can drink decaf coffee but not the caffeinated until I had all 64 ounces in. I heat some skim or 1/2% milk and add it to it, sometimes some unsweetened cocoa or choc. protein after it has cooled some so it doesn't curdle. I like Propel but not the crystal light any more as it's too sweet. There is Proti -diet protein that can be added to water (15 gr) but I have to double the water that I use it in. Maybe that will help!! You can do this and don't give up!!!!

Shrimp goes down well if you like shellfish, I could do tuna if I mixed a little mayo with olive oil which the nut said we could use. I couldn't keep turkey down. White chili made with chicken is good, chili from Wendy's because the ground meat had been cooked for quite awhile. Good luck!! Oh, nonfat refried beans spread on a plate, salsa, 2% cheese and then non fat Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I even eat that for breakfast sometimes.

You were very elegant in explaining yourself!!! I get too emotional and have a hard time with that. Thanks for sharing and saying what many of us have felt.

I've had a bipap for almost 9 years. Still have the full mask because I'm a mouth breather, and didn't like having to wear a chin strap too to hold my mouth closed. Will have a sleep study done again when I'm about a year out or are close to goal as they don't want me to have to have more than one. I know what you mean by the marks.

We've been married 43 years, with 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. He's seen the struggles before I had surgery and now still 4 months out. We are in this for the long haul and we both know that already I can do things that I couldn't do before the surgery.

If you like the Quest bars I'll send mine to you. I didn't like them. At my 3 month checkup the PA told me to up my protein by having a protein shake each day....now 70-80 a day instead of 60 and make sure and get my water in. I keep a bar in my purse at all times (Pure Protein) and will have one as a snack or meal if I need one when I'm away from the house. Liquids is the hardest for me.

Will have to copy this and try it. I like the fat free refried beans 1/4 cup spread on small plate, ground sirloin with seasonings, about an ounce, 2 T. non fat greek yogart, and a sprinkle of 2% Mexican cheese. Heat in micro. Adjust to your liking. I don't like greek yogart but can eat it this way to add protein.
