Missed exercising as we were traveling most of the day. Will have to make up for it tomorrow. Did extra Water aerobics on my rest days so I think I'm ok.

Anyone who thinks this is easy, hasn't researched. It is one of the hardest things I've done except for childbirth!! LOL! Anyway, yes, there are some days that I would love to eat slider foods, butI am determined to be successful. I'm already off many of my meds, down 57 pounds, and my blood pressure in usually normal. No Naisds and I'm practicing for a 5K to run in May at the age of 66. I'm proud of my progress. My sister and brother don't acknowledge it but that is ok. I have the support of my husband and friends!!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
carstanger replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Finally got below 170 today...Highest weight was 225.5 in October. Sleeved 11/12/12. Just finished interval training. Running at 3.8 and walking at 3.0 which is great for me. In a week I have to be able to run 1 mile, 1 min. walk, and then 1 mile again. Want to try it outside as it is starting to warm up here in Michigan. -

What brand protein bar?
carstanger replied to MK1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't eating protein bars until 3 months out. Then Pure Protein, snack well, south beach and proti diet were recommended. I like the pure protein and proti diet. Tried a Quest and hated it!!! -

Freaking Out....is this normal 13 days pre-op
carstanger replied to Letty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a lot of time to question things...only a month but you can do this!!! You are worth taking care of yourself! You've made the first steps on your journey!! -
171.4 with a new scale and jeans on, etc. Will weigh again in the morning like I usually do and see if I finally have broken the 170"s. Keeping my fingers crossed. Went to a 2 day conference and didn't cheat even with all the goodies around. Proud of myself!!!

Freaking Out....is this normal 13 days pre-op
carstanger replied to Letty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your feelings are normal. I'm 5 months out and was 65 when I had the surgery with gall bladder removal and hiatal hernia repair!! Believe me, it is not easy but... The rules/ guidelines are for your safety!!! Every stage my daughter, a doctor, who had the sleeve also kept saying" you only have to do this once. I'm the lowest I've been in over 20 years, and now training with the Bariatric group for a 5 k walk/run! You can do this and use the tool. One day at a time!!! Hour if you need to. Enjoy the journey and we all are with you! Carol -

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
carstanger replied to timetobefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had several of them, but am down 55 pounds. Upped my protein and exercise, but it is still happening. I'll lose and then go up 3-4 pounds in one day. Don't know if it is the scale. But my clothes fit differently and I've dropped from 2x or 22/24 to 16 so I know I'm making progress!!! -

No More Advil.....EVER!
carstanger replied to JeffNNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I retired I had been dealing with headaches for two years. Had been on Bextra until it was pulled by FDA . Then I had inflammation in knee, back, neck and feet. Still see a chiropractor when my hips get out of alignment. Was on Celebrex for several years, fish oil, and co q 10. The surgeon prescribed something else but I had to take it every 6 hours so don't. Can take Tylenol but don't take that either. Dropping 55 pounds has helped as I'm 5 ft 2 " . Have 35 more to go. Treated myself to deep tissue massage when I was down 50 pounds. Helps to break up the knots I form in my neck and shoulders . Good luck as we are all so different . -
Any dairy products in what is causing you problems?? Some people become lactose intolerant after surgery. Just the opposite for me so far....but I also had problems with certain raw vegetables and lettuce. Not tried those since surgery.

66 and training for a 5k. If I can't run it, I'll walk it. Off all my anti-inflamatory meds, too and had knee replacement 2 years ago in April. 20 minute mile today and I had a hard time walking a mile before surgery!!! Yeah!!
