clothing exchange prices for clothes and shipping
carstanger replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I sent my favorite things to mo. She offered to pay for shipping and I paid about 17. Worth it to have someone enjoy those clothes! I used a consignment shop a couple if years ago. Took 7 or 8 outfits and I only got 6.60 for them. Didn't like the feeling. Have donated to Good Will, st vincent DePaul and other thrift shops. Daughter and a friend have given me clothes - and I so appreciated that! -

Are you scared to have weight loss surgery
carstanger replied to Suzannesh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 66 and have my surgery in Nov 12 when I was 65. Self Pay in Michigan....I use Proti Diet protein, Bariatric Fusion, and Unjury unflavored, chocolate, and strawberry, as well as protein cheese. My hair was also thin, and I have lost some, but not in clumps or as lot. I was practicing for a 5K run and found out the Physical Therapist prefers that I do the walk because I had total knee replacement 2 years ago. So,,I'll up my speed of walking and distance. I was worried but did fine even though I also had hiatal hernia repair as well as gall bladder removed at the same time. -
Probably my saving grace is that I know I will get sick if I eat too fast, too much, or too greasy, etc. and I don't like that feeling.

Too bad my kids are grown and 2 out of 3 have kids of their own. Son is adopted so don't know his background on one of his bio dad!. We always told him we imported height as he is 6ft 4 " and his daughter is already taller than me at 12 which isn't hard. LOL! Would love to see the study too!

Great job!!! Enjoy riding!!!! -
I had the sleeve and take omeoprozel every day before breakfast....Tylenol as needed. Had to stop Celebrex for at least 6 months..which is almost here, but I'm doing ok without it so probably won't start it again. I'm surprised.

Just came back from lunch with a friend. Drooled over the menu but.....I eat 1 eat and part of a turkey sausage and watched her eat a veg. omelet, and potatoes, etc. Drank some coffee.... and enjoyed our visit. It was hard and I'm almost 6 months out. Going to the movie this afternoon with friends and my husband. Will take my decaf tea and a protein bar with me. Bound and determined.

Abdominal binding after surgery
carstanger commented on Lifewithoutbounderies's blog entry in Lifewithoutbounderies' Blog
I also had one after surgery and got a new one. They had to cut it to fit my body which helped. -
Told by the Physical Therapist that they don't recommend clients with total knee replacement walk, but not run so I'll be trying to up my speed of walking. At 3.0 or 3.1 mph now which is so much better for me.

I'm on BC/BS Medicare and was 65 when I had the surgery in November. Ins would have paid for the Bypass but it would have been more risky for me so I was self pay. I had gall bladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired as well as scar tissue taken down. Surgery on Monday, and discharged on Wed. Most of my hospital was paid for so I got some money back. Actually, they had not cashed my check. My surgeon didn't put in the sleeve to the insurance. Good luck to you!!

Knee replacement 2 years ago so scared to push it!! Thanks for the encouragement!!!
-
Tried to do 3min running and 1 min walking intervals. Made it 23 minutes only instead of the 28 minutes. Did do a mile in 16 1/2 min though which is my best time. My nut wants us to run 2 miles tomorrow. This should be interesting to say the least!!!

NSV.....Heels All Night!
carstanger replied to Diamondeyed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh Heels! I ruined my feet when I taught in them on a daily basis, so I'm please to see someone else can enjoy them after weight loss. I have a pair of flats that I wore for a couple hours without having to take them off!! LOL! -
Need to get some running shoes....Suggestions as I wear orthopedics and have titanium joints in my big toes, and arthritis in my feet. Had knee replacement 2 years ago. Training for a 5 K in May.

Taking biotin now from doctor's office as my hair was getting thinner. 5 1/2 months out.
-
My doctor and nut said decaf coffee is fine and reg coffee after I have my 64 ounces in. I don't drink that now as I still have a hard time getting in my liquids.

anybody want some unjury Chocolate splendor?
carstanger replied to adoptmom2_3's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
If no one has bought it yet, I'd be interested. Message me at carols5417 -
I am addicted to food and do fine on the strict diet! I'm scared to add things back at 6 mo because I love the carbs!! Have had no bread, rice, crackers or pasta since the preop diet in October. Have had a couple baked potatoes but with Unjury cheese sauce which is high in protein with broccoli. Just celebrated 6 family birthdays today and only ate sloppy joe meat, veggies and fruit. Made a dip with low fat cottage cheese, low fat sour cream and dry onion soup. No cake!!! If I didn't eat I might have been a drunk!
