Hi Java, Did you have any luck finding the strips? I was also going to add that I got mine at Walgreens...not the least expensive, but if your town is like mine, there's a Walgreens on every corner!!!!! :myscared: Cheers, Toni

That's a GOOD thing! That means it's important to you and you are NOT taking it lightly! H-Mom...you are going to do beautifully! You and tomorrow's crew are in my prayers! (You have an awesome cousin, too!) :myscared: ----Toni

Serena...you LUCKY DOGGIE! Take it from my experience. I was the #3 patient to be banded on Thursday by my surgeon. Well, unforseen to anyone, patient #1 had a Hernia that had to be removed/repaired---the Dr. was shocked when he found it inside her, and it took him nearly 2 hours just to deal with the hernia. Well...that pushed the rest of us back. Can you imagine being on your mattress that much longer?!? You are a smart cookie to bring a fan if they'll allow it, and you're awful lucky you get to go in first! Oh, and fortunate not to have to to do 7 days of clears! Good for you!!!!:clap2:

Crabby: Lisa checked in with us yesterday! She's A-OK (see above). Just wanted to give a shout-out to tanderson, <O:p</O:pLisaMack, <O:p</O:phuntersmom, <O:p</O:pserena and wish you all the bestest! Please post as soon as you are feeling well enough to! MM...hang in there! Remember how scary your bp and heartrate were, so please be a good patient, even though I know you're DYING to get home! I know I shouldn't whine after what you all went through with your pre-op diet, but the post-op diet is really hard for me. Is everyone on the same diet? I am surviving on Clears for SEVEN days and I think it's about to take its toll already. Capt. Danbo, do you know what your Dr. is going to do for you? Any suggestions how I can get through this? :faint:Here's my diet: coffee, tea, broth, low-sugar juice, s/f popsicles, s/f Jello and Protein drinks called AmazeRX. That's IT! Thanks, Toni

Welcome Home Lisa H! I'm so glad you are feeling better! Did you get any of the Gas X Peppermint Strips? They're divine! I'm very envious of your recliner----enjoy the heck out of it! I've been sleeping in bed, and you're right, it's hard to get comfy in there. Hopefully that will get better in a few days, though! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SNOOPY! :happybday2:Have a piece of cake for us, too! What are your birthday plans today? Enjoy yourself! ----Toni

Hi Hotty! So good to read your post! You nailed it on the head when you were describing the barium swallow test. I loved that part, too! Seeing everything...esp. the band! It made it all real. I had mine just MINUTES after waking after surgery, but I wasn't groggy at all. I really enjoyed it! Girl, you sound like you could clean the house and then split a cord of wood. Don't forget to pamper yourself, OK?!? Just so happy for you...for the Fab 5 that was banded yesterday....for everyone that will be this month! ----Toni

Rhonda....please don't worry, you are going to do GREAT! I was once told that we're only nervous when something is important to us. How true! I think God takes care of us....I was banded at a beautiful facility, but it was a facility. Not a hospital. So I think that's why I got the boot and there were no problems!!!! :biggrin1: I can relate to you, though, I have children, and that brings on other jitters and worries when it comes to gen. anesthesia, etc., but like I said, you are going to do GREAT!!!! Becks....how cool is that that your bro is banded! 40 lbs. already?!? Men are like that. The weight just falls off them. I'm sure Capt. Danbo will be the same on our board---run circles around me with the weight loss! I feel like I have a good support system. My husband has been super, and my mom and sister have been supportive across the miles. I've got a really skinny girlfriend who's in my corner, too :embarassed: But I'm not telling the world. I just don't want to. & Don't you even worry about how far you have to go in comparison to others' tickers....girl, PLEASE! Look how far you've come already! It's incredible! You should be so proud!!!! Cheers, Toni

    Jealousy

I can totally relate to this. I have ALWAYS been thinner than my younger sister. Now we are about the same, and since she found out about my getting banded, she's dieting like a mad-woman. What the?!? Oh, and she had the gastric bypass about 7 years ago and gained all her weight back. :phanvan I wish I could say she was doing it for HER health, happiness, etc., but I have to wonder.... Just drives me nuts, but I'm going to let it go. It will all work out in the wash! ----Toni

MM...thank you sooooo much for checking in! I've been like a mad-woman today checking these posts for word from the Fab 5 and I know you all are sick to death of seeing my posts! From what you are describing, your post-op symptoms are scary, so I'm so thankful you are going to spend another night in the safety of the hospital!!!! Becky....does this sound "typical" to you? I hope so!!! Do you think your heart rate and bp has anything to do with being on liquids for soooooo long? (You should've ordered out for pizza Thursday night!) As soon as you're feeling stronger, please let us know all about the experience! Congrats and all our get-well wishes! Toni

Becky, I hear you.....I was out-of-state the day before my surgery for my nephew's HS graduation, and basically flew home for banding. It was a whirl-wind WILD ride! But let me tell you....it's going to be SUPER tough on you to attend the graduation. I'm just being honest. It's not easy getting up and down out of a chair, let alone showering, walking around and having to socialize (I can't imagine!). You are a GREAT sister! Does everyone know that you'll have been banded, or are you keeping it under wraps? Thanks for letting me know that there was a bunch of tylenol in my elixer! I'm glad I didn't take anymore (reg. Tylenol) on top of it...and I've been taking it routinely---actually it says Hydrocodone APAP as the generic. I *thought* I had a high tolerance for pain, but guess not!:phanvan ---Toni

Thanks for the suggestion, Snoopy! Sounds like you have an INCREDIBLE job. It's high-level interest to me as my husband has mitral-valve prolapse and will one day have his valve repaired or replaced. I think I'll try a few minutes on the TM tomorrow. Thanks again for the idea! Hugs, Toni (who knows you're going to do GREAT in your recovery--and you're going to be banded before you know it !)
  15. Marcar....welcome to the wild side! I was banded on 5/31, and so I'm recouperating, too! Just wanted to answer some of your questions according to my Dr. (and all Doctors are different, so call your office if you have real concerns) I'm supposed to be on a clear liquid diet for SEVEN days that include: coffee TEA broth low-sugar juice sugar-free popsicles skim milk and Protein shakes have been a discrepancy on my paperwork sugar free Jello No carbonated drinks Take small sips and go slowly...avoid gulping I have enjoyed coffee both mornings post-op, today moreso than yesterday! HTH and Congrats to you!!!! ---Toni
  16. I love the strips, too! MintyFreshness rules! I was banded in Houston on the 31st and doing great, too. I think that there's a whole-lotta-bandin' goin' on in Texas! I didn't get Codeine, but liquid hydrocodone and it serves the same purpose. At least helps me bend over more easily! Best wishes to you!!!!! ---Toni

Ahhhhhh Virginia....God's country! Humid is right. We've got that BIGTIME. A/C is a-runnin' Not a ticker wiz, but just click on your shamrocks from here, and it will take you there and you can adjust your numbers, then hit "next" at the bottom and it will automatically update here. At least it does it for me but the Grace of God! Otherwise I'd be lost-----not too technically advanced over here! Try it! Hugs, Toni

Atta Girl, Miss Java!!!! Way to go with the weight loss. I swear, I think you all lose half your weight on this pre-op diet your first year! It is very typical for my Dr. to prescribe phenergan suppositories for nausea and Lortab Elixir for pain to his patients after banding. I've got a few refills on the elixir which I may refill once as I'm really using it. I think, if I'm remembering right, the pain is actually coming from the port which is "sewn" into muscle". It just hurts to bend over, change positions while lying down, etc... I would get the liquid Tylenol for adults, but my experience with the "ole capsules" was it was like popping tic-tacs, so I used some liquid motrin for children. I have a question for you all. I'm walking around my home, and even climbing the flight of stairs to our 2nd floor. I know walking is recommended and STRONGLY encouraged. Do you think they mean just regular movement or "get on the treadmill". I keep thinking if it's the latter, I'm going to only do about 1 m.p.h. :faint: Where are you, Java? It's 77 here in Houston, only getting up to 88, but I'm worried about my Floridian friends.....watch out for Barry. Hopefully he won't be too much of a bugger! Cheers, Toni

CRABBY!!!!!! I was just wondering about you! So glad to get your post out there! I was banded at a (beautiful) facility called Journey Lite, and Lite was right. Maybe it was because my surgery was unexpectedly moved up, but I had ZERO tests till just before surgery. They took and EKG and bloodwork just before I got banded....I mean JUST BEFORE! I haven't even met with my nutritionist yet!!!! Everything is happening bass-ackwards! I still can't believe I'm banded. Seems like I should've been last, not 2nd! BTW...where is Hoosierpoms????? So, Marie, please let us know how your sleep studies go. I never had any problems with apnea, but with STAYING asleep. Lunesta has been a Godsend. Hugs, Toni

Janine, I would def. call the nurse and pick her brain, or make an appt. to see the Dr. Otherwise, you are going to drive yourself C-R-A-Z-Y! I just don't want you to worry about the G-bladder or future problems it will cause you!:heh: Hugs, Toni

Hi Snoop-D-O-Double G! I hope we hear something from the Fab 5 tomorrow, too! I'm so excited for them!!!! I have to keep pinching myself, I can't believe I'm really banded. I already know what "fills" must feel like and why they're anticipated. I could use one already! I can tell I don't have any restriction. Also, as weird/lucky as this is: I haven't had ANY problems with the gas. I don't even feel bloated. I am thankful. I've only had one nausea spell, too, and I think it's because I drank a mug of broth too quickly. I can't sugarcoat anything. It feels like my abdomen was hit by a Mack Truck. I really am taking my liquid hydrocodone every 4-6 hours, because I feel like I need it just to walk around upright! My sweet husband is taking good care of me and our daughters...thanks so much for asking about that! You're a doll! OK, enough babbling. You'll be in B ANDLAND in 26 days!!! I'm excited for you, Snoopy! ---Toni
