A charge for hernia repair surgery ?!what?!
Geminidrive replied to Lisa'slosinit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would definitely request an itemized hospital bill and definitely talk to the surgeon. -
Cardio exercises without putting weight on foot?
Geminidrive replied to Magsnlucy's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Its going to be tough, but I would try aquatic exercises. -
Before piling on the weight I loved to walk and could walk for miles. Now I'm getting back into walking (using my FITBIT) and I must say I'm enjoying it again. Loving that I'm not huffing and puffing climbing the stairs. I'm averaging 6400 steps (2 1/2 miles) during the week and 800 steps (3 1/2 miles) on the weekends. I hope to increase my steps and miles by the end of the month. Who's walking and how many miles and steps do you take daily?

I just hit my 10k step today. Yay!

I still have cravings, but most times I don't give in to them.

Don't feel bad, I'm well behind you and like you I'm trying to kick it up a notch. By the end of next month I hope to be doing 10,000 steps daily.

Diet Coke Addiction
Geminidrive replied to ChristenOnAmission's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a diet Pepsi drinker and haven't had any problem giving it up. Maybe taking a look at the bigger picture of being healthier might help. Sometimes giving up something is not as bad as you think it will be. -
Whats the worst thing you ate During your 1st week Post op
Geminidrive replied to Lina12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't eat anything, I progressed from liquids, purée and then regular foods on schedule. -
I took off 3 weeks just to make sure I had the water and food routine in place. I actually could have gone back to work earlier because I felt fine after the surgery, but it was nice to have the time off to relax.

Awe, hopefully it will get better. Unfortunately this thread will probably get jacked too.

My friend keeps calling me a "Cheater"
Geminidrive replied to lilstyler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Friends are with you when you need them, she isn't a friend. It's very simple, friends don't act like that. -
I absolutely do believe you can lose weight, the key is to stay focused and be determined. You must also realize that Rome wasn't built in a day and losing the weight won't be done that easily either. Know that sometimes it will be easy other times not so much. If you are determined it WILL happen. Good luck.

Tell or dont tell
Geminidrive replied to anewme1004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mind sharing with others that I had weight loss surgery. It's not a secret and I'm not embarrassed about my choice. People are going to gossip whether you are fat, thin or normal, I just give them one less thing to gossip about. Lol I have yet to have any negative responses. It's my opportunity to educate the ill informed. From those I have told the responses have been inquisitive and some have requested the surgeons contact information. If I can help someone else just by sharing my story, then I'm happy. -
how long did it take you?
Geminidrive replied to devonmae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I scheduled my surgery prior to approval, all part of my plan. Total of 3 months. -
I have Cigna and my approval was fairly easy, with one minor bump. The first thing I did prior to meeting with a surgeon was to contact Cigna (self funded PPO) to verify WLS coverage and to calculate my estimated out of pocket expenses. Once armed with that information I started the process. From my first visit to date of surgery it was 3 months. I would suggest you sign into Mycigna.com to verify and find info on your coverage.

My surgeon did not require a lengthy Pre op liquid diet other than the Pre op magnesium citrate cleanse along with Clear Liquids one day prior to surgery. I have not suffered any complications as a result of a different Pre op plan. My BMI was very high and post surgery my weight loss has been consistent and steady. Hope this helps.

Perhaps both are just happy where they are with their weight and life choices. We all have different reasons why we made the choice to have surgery.
