Best device for tracking calories burned? (bodybugg, fitbit, jawbone up, etc...)
Geminidrive replied to Sassafras's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have the fitbit and I can't comment on what is best because I haven't used any other device, but check out the link below for and article comparing several devices. http://www.getgrok.com/2013/01/a-comparative-review-28-days-with-the-fitbit-one-jawbone-up-nike-fuelband-and-bodymedia-link/ Hope this helps. -

Going to a wedding 3 weeks Post Op

Take your protein shakes and water with you. Be prepared, take whatever you are eating at that stage with you. Preparation is half the battle. -
Negative Boyfriend
Geminidrive replied to Stranger 123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should really let him see how much you let yourself "Go" right out the door! I don't know why I started thinking about Gloria Gaynor's song, I will survive....... .......Oh, no, not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give And I'll survive, I will survive, hey, hey...... If he said this once, it may be excusable, if it's constant it may be time for a change. Good luck. You look fabulous! -

How about protein powder in diet sprite?
Geminidrive replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious, you don't drink any water at all? Is that by choice or because you can't tolerate it? -
how long after surgery did you go back to work or travel?
Geminidrive replied to BKLYNgal87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was out for 3 weeks, but felt good enough to return to work the next week. I didn't have any pain, gas or discomfort. For traveling Internationally it is probably important to know where you are traveling to and flying hours. I don't know how soon after your surgery you plan to travel, but depending on the length of the flight you may run the risk of blood clots. Flights lasting 8-10 hours or longer pose a greater risk. I would pose these questions to your surgeon. -
Wow. Here's to a speedy and complication free recovery.

I'm currently having Minoxidil applied by my stylist weekly, and it does seem like there is less shedding, but I'm not quite sure if it is as a direct result of the product or my body getting accustomed to the weight loss. My dermatologist suggested that I use it (she suggested the less expensive Walmart brand Equate), she also stated that the hair loss is temporary.

General surgeon label on bariatric surgeons?
Geminidrive replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can check out your surgeons records by checking out ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) along with the your state medical board. https://www.certificationmatters.org/is-your-doctor-board-certified/search-now.aspx Link for Federation of State Medical board below: http://www.fsmb.org/ -
Equality House. . I read the article yesterday, I love when Aaron purchased the place how he said some of the church members were so cordial and pleasant.......nothing like a wolf in sheepskin clothing. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

DOES THE DOCTOR WEIGH YOU THE MORNING OF THE SURGERY...
Geminidrive replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was not weighed on the day of surgery, I think I was weighed pre-op. I was not wheeled into the OR on the day of the surgery, I walked in and hopped on the table. -
I Can Run! Can You?
Geminidrive replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! Although I was on the athletic side, I was never a "runner" just to be running, that was something that I never found enjoyment doing. I have however, rekindled my joy of walking, albeit with my large goofy dog. -
I am thankful that my surgeon did not require a pre-op diet. I can't imagine weeks of this diet. OMG, I'd probably want to kill someone. I wish you well.

Who has been more supportive - your fat friends or your skinny friends?
Geminidrive replied to bonita19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amen to Gman and Rycherchick! It's called growth and evolving......my mother always told me everybody is not going to be your friend, no truer words have ever been uttered. My friends and family have all been supportive no matter what size. My work colleagues have been amazing. For me the physical size of my friends and their support does not even fit into the equation. -
You might want to change your setting on your settings, your font is set to strikeout making it difficult for others to view your posting content.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this, losing a parent is such an incredibly painful experience, and there is no other love like that of a mother. Continue to spend as much time as possible with your mom and continue to talk and touch her, I'm sure you are already doing this. This is most likely one of the biggest stressor of your lifetime. Everyone is different but what I found that helped me during this time was having the constant support of friends and family, lean on them when you can and I also created mental diversions which were listening to music and watching the most ridiculously silly comedies when possible. Like Leeann states above don't bottle your emotions, cry......it does help. I'll be praying for you and your family.

The only beer I like is Belgian Kriek or framboise beer, they did have to twist my arm to taste it. -
Am I CRAZY?
Geminidrive replied to DestinyIsWaiting's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too would be a bit concerned first because the rash of cruise ship problems and certainly would not want to be on one if by chance there is an outbreak of norovirus. Secondly, if there are complications it may be very difficult to get you to a good hospital or possibly back to the US. I would definitely inquire with the cruise line about how they handle medical emergencies. -
Child free... Way off topic
Geminidrive replied to apricot1119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is nothing wrong with not wanting children if that is your choice, I think it's admirable. Every woman wasn't meant to have children. Whatever your choice, I'm sure it will be an informed decision. -

Un-supportive friends/family?
Geminidrive replied to samantha(:'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are these people truly your friends? Sometimes you have to go through something to truly find out who is in your corner. While I have experienced nothing but support, I would certainly confront these people and tell them how you feel and that you don't appreciate this type of behavior. People will continue to do this until you put them on notice. Now your family on the otherhand, just embrace them and love them I'm sure they will come around some day when they see you healthier. -
Do people really do this s**t?
Geminidrive replied to fatrosie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tell them wait a minute let me get a pen to write this information down, or better yet I'm interested just write everything down and I'll try it. The looks on their faces......priceless. I'm sure they don't mean any harm, they are just trying to be helpful. -
Introduction (long) and an unusual concern
Geminidrive replied to genepha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like this is your passion, I don't think you will have a problem at all, you don't always have to be a visual representation of what you sell. For me, as long as the clothing is nice, comfortable and suits my taste I wouldn't care what you look like. I think you will be fine.
