how to deal with "non-supporters"
Geminidrive replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She shouldn't be a part of your decision anyway. I would be firm and tell her this is your decision and hopefully she will still love you as a thinner. Don't make it confrontational, just a firm matter of fact conversation. Good luck! -
Stomach bug...is it possible?
Geminidrive replied to Sarahboy13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, we can get the bug. It's going around...... -
Here's my story, I posted this on previous threads: Info from my dermatologist yesterday: My dermatologist explained that the type of hair loss we are experiencing is called telogen effluvium and is more due to recent shock to your system, ie., weight loss, pain, recent surgery, over or under active thyroid, childbirth, medications and other underlying conditions not just lack of Protein. The dermatologist mentioned that one could lose over 50% of your hair, but that it will grow back in 5-8 months. She suggested using minoxidil, which will stimulate the growth of new hair faster. The less expensive brands are: (both 2%) * Equate which can be purchased at Walmart http://www.walmart.c...e&cat_id=976760 * Kirkland Minoxidil which can be purchased at costco. Important instructions on use: It is important that if you do use the minoxidil, it is to be placed on your scalp, do not rub it into your hair, it will just make your hair more brittle and susceptible to breakage. Do not let it drip onto your forehead as it will cause headaches. The best application is laying back preferably into a shampoo sink. http://www.webmd.com...loss/effluviums http://www.aocd.org/..._effluvium.html Along with taking 10k mcg of Biotin, Minoxidil is applied by my stylist weekly, and it does seem like there is less shedding, but I'm not quite sure if it is as a direct result of the product or my body getting accustomed to the weight loss.

Nope, I followed the instructions that were given to me. -
I would suggest investing in an insulated thermal lunch bag, the food would stay cold for a long time. http://www.amazon.com/Insulated-Lunch-Cooler-Bag-Black/dp/B000IBH0BS/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1365013516&sr=8-12&keywords=insulated+thermal+lunch+bags Suggested foods: cheese sticks Turkey or beef jerkey stick (Jacks Links can be found in Costco) Lettuce/turkey/cheese breast roll-ups Ham/Cheese rollups Pickles/Cucumbers/celery with Peanut Butter boiled eggs If you have an insulated thermos you can have Soup.

How do you deal with sabotage and negativity from others?
Geminidrive replied to DecoGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Suing a physician is a very difficult thing to do, every case has to have merit. While I agree that the doctor lacked compassion, isn't grounds for a lawsuit. I would send the doctor a letter and address your concerns. -

What did your surgeon think? Is this part of the guidelines given to you pre-op? I often wonder why these questions are asked after the fact....... -
Hey....Jersey in the house. LOL

What should i do know to prepare for surgery
Geminidrive replied to Steveischanging's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clean out your kitchen, get rid of all the junk. Stock up on water. I would steer clear of stocking up on anything else because your taste buds may change and you will toss out the stuff you won't use. -
Odd. Not concerned, but is this normal?
Geminidrive replied to pixigrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL, I would say it may be nothing but check with your doctor just to be on the safe side. -

Geminidrive replied to pixigrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to change your color, it is currently white so we can't read it unless it is highlighted. Your post below For a few days now I've been able to literally hear and feel my jugular vein pulsing and beating. I'm curious if this is normal, or I'm a freakazoid and just happen to have a very strong heartbeat and circulatory system. I'm just hoping it's not one of those "little known" symptoms post-op that should make you run out to the doctor asap. I'm still learning so much! Please let me know that this is either a)common, b)I'm a freakazoid, 3) I should see my doctor asap 4) stop reading into every little post on here and becoming a hypochondriac. Thanks gang! -
I know this is the Vets forum, but congratulations!

Nope, and I was a diet pepsi soda drinker. There are GOOD reasons why the surgeons say to eliminate certain drinks, alcohol, straws, NSAIDS, medications etc. Although it may be hard to eliminate soda, in my opinion it's in our best interest.

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
Geminidrive replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeppers! It's all good! -
Premier Protein. They have the best taste and 30g of protein. I am picky and I don't like cold shakes, I drink them warm.
-
You will need your protein so you will have to find something you like, even if you have to doctor up the shakes. I wasn't fond of them either, but protein is essential and so is water. Try some crystal light or drops to make your water tastier, you know its important. Finally, put some clothes on and reintroduce yourself to the world, get out of that rut and shine girl! You will be just fine, you just need a few to adjust.
-
I usually have a 30g protein shake in the morning before work, then around 10am greek yogurt (with fruit) I'm not a fan of plain yogurt. For lunch about 1 1/2 oz of chicken/fish with a veggie (broccoli, broccoli rabe, string beans) or turkey breast and cheese rolled up together. I have another protein shake around 2-3pm. For dinner I have chicken/broiled fish/shrimp and a green veggie. I limit my carb intake to under 50 grams per day.

Headache two weeks post op
Geminidrive replied to AshleySkinnyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can take tylenol, it may help. But the best thing to do is to consult with your doctor if it persists. -
make sure this is what you want
Geminidrive replied to Seanja's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully it will get better for you. You have to put everything into perspective, this is a choice we make to be healthier, Thank god we can make that choice, in the bigger scheme of things (unless you have had serious complications from the surgery) this is easy. Imagine the people who are gravely ill who don't have choices, who are in constant pain and struggle every day just to survive. Yes, you are uncomfortable, but thankfully this too will pass. Every day, I thank god that I was able to have this surgery so I can be healthy. -
One Day Post-op...GAINED 12#!
Geminidrive replied to mwrarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Calm down. You are probably full of fluids. Get off the scale, put it away!!! If you weigh yourself everyday you are going to drive yourself crazy. The weight will come off, monitor it but don't send yourself over the edge unnecessarily by getting on the scale every day!
