  1. I am so excited. Plus I introduced real foods, albiet about a week early. But I feel great! I'm up to 50 oz of water/day. I have not had any pain post op. NOW, I need to start moving and excercise.

    Florida sleevers

I paid $18,500 which included the surgery, and the hospital stay.
  3. I always start with a protein shake in the morning. Ricotta or cottage cheese or homemade or 98% fat free creamed soup for lunch. Chicken, veal, or fish for dinner. I always drink at least 50oz of water /day
  4. My surgeon does not allow us to use straws what so ever. It makes you swallow air. Good luck.
  5. Prayers go out to you. It gets easier as the day pass. Good luck to you.

    Catheter?!

I'm nine days out, and I did have to be straight cathed the next day because I did not urinate on my own. I was up walking and stuff, but I just couldn't go. It was not painful.
  7. So, I went to a Christmas party tonight. There was so much food, and everything smelled so good. I wanted to eat so badly. I brought a Protein shake with me, and I was satisfied with it; but honesly I longed for 'real food' Am I being to hard on myself? I am invited out to Christmas dinner next week, but now I am doubting if I should go. I'm afraid the temptation will be too great.

  9. Well, I made it. I was sleeved on December 17th. Procedure went well. I did have one minor complication, I could not urinate after surgery for 2 days. I had to be straight cathed. My doctor said this is sometimes a side effect of the anesthesia. I am pleased to say that that has resolved. I'm on day 2 of full liquids now. I have lost 5 pounds in 5 days. Way to excited about that. So I'm down 11 pounds since my pre-op weight. woot woot. I highly recommend Dr. Bass and his staff.

You can do it. Focus and re-group. YOU CAN DO IT!

    Falling of the wagon...HELP!

First of all, you are not a failure. It takes courage to get sleeved and you did it. Regroup, journal (if you have time), and maybe see a psychologist to help you get back on track. You can do it. Don't let your self get too far gone though. YOU can do this, YOU are better than this! Good luck to you.
  12. Congrats, prayers heading your way. I'm also on the 17th. I go in at 8:30 am. So psyched!

    Paying Out of Pocket

I'm in Florida, and the surgeon, hospital (one night), and nutritional counceling came to $19,000. I refinanced my house to come up with the cash.

    Frustrated as hell!

Every body is different, don't compare yourself to others. Just keep on track and the scale will move. Have you measured yourself? You may have lost inches. Stay focused.
  15. Well, I did it, my first week of full liquids. I was nervous that I would cheat, but honestly, I did well. I lost 5 pounds in 6 days. Yeah, I wish it had been more, but I'll take what I can get. Today, is Clear Liquids. I made red Jello, does that count as a clear liquid? Anyway, I'm not as nervous as I thought I would be. I did all the research, read most forums on this site, seen the good, bad, and ugly. I am stronger than I thought. Emotions? Running thru the gammit. On Wednesday, I was thinking, 'what have I gotten myself into?'; almost considered cancelling the surgery. So glad I didn't. Today, I am going to a boat parade (I live in SW Florida). There will be lots of food to tempt me. My Dr. offered jello w/protein pre-packaged at the office so I bought some. I'm going to take the jello, and some broth with me, so I can look like I'm eating along with everyone else. Lastly, my loving and supportive mother flew down from NJ to be with me after surgery. I am truly blessed. For you prayer warriors out there, I would appreciate a prayer be sent my way. Good luck everyone with your journey.

I live in Cape Coral, by Ft. Myers.
  17. Antidepressants also put weight on, so you are dealing with another issue all together. Go back to the basics, and don't be so hard on yourself. YOU CAN DO IT!
  18. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. Wow, is this real? I'm a week away from surgery. Where has the time gone? What have I gotten myself into? Thank goodness for all the positive posts on this site, or I would have chickened out a while ago. Wish me luck, because I'm afrain I may cheat. I need to be strong........and I have all these holiday parties coming up too.......
