Best of luck to you and all of us on this journey. I remember losing a lot of weight a decade ago and not seeing the skinny girl in the mirror. Now I don't see how fat I actually am unless I accidentally let my son snap a picture and glance at myself quickly while frantically hitting the delete button.
I'm tired of deleting myself! I too have not told anyone but my husband (because I need a ride) and 2 friends because I'm embarrassed like you. Is it because we are secretly afraid to fail even with the sleeve? Perhaps. Is it because we are afraid they will talk us out of it? Probably. Is it because we are hiding our unhappiness with our weight and, therefore, other parts of our life? Definitely!
I was told to do the 2 week preop diet of shakes or very little food like you. I can drink the shakes but I am soooo hungry! If I could live on 800-1000 calories, I wouldn't need the sleeve! I've read here that our tastes change after the surgery. Hope you are able to tolerate the shakes post-surgery!
Good luck.

How are the headaches preventing weight loss??
I go into surgery tomorrow and I'm perplexed to know that it IS IN FACT possible not to lose anything regardless of 80% of your stomach being removed...
please tell me why yu haven't lost anything...or is it you've not lost a huge amount?

Sounds to me like gluten intolerance. I have it and all of your symptoms are associated with a gluten intolerance. I would definitely go gluten free and make sure that's what it is. Anemia is a symptom also. Good luck in finding the source of your problems.

I so far have avoided pizza cause it was a food I pigged out on. I just had spaghetti w/ light EVO and lemon, 2 bites, all OK for me. Bread, again just started with sprouted rye and tuna/pickle/avocado. Fine, I can only do 1/4 sandwich, that is a 1/2 c of food but it seems so silly, A QUARTER SANDWICH!! Who would of thunk.
I was sleeved 8/27/12

Try really really hard to drink your water. My father recently experienced itchiness, dizziness (He fell at a restaraunt even), confusion and fatigue. After NUMEROUS tests on his heart, brain, etc. and bloodwork they discovered he was chronically dehydrated. A few IV bags of fluids over a weeking and 64 oz of water a day and he's back to normal. This was all discovered 3 weeks ago and he even played golf today. See if your doctor will order and IV fluid boost to get you started. My dad felt better immediately after 2 bags of fluids. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you so much for your responses. I am going to start taking my B-12 again (sub lingual). What is is Q 10? I will be getting my food ready for a gluten free diet. I will try it for about two weeks then I will let you know! I have an appointment to see my surgeon on the 16th. Thank you again!

Sorry to hear you're feeling not-so-great. A lot of the symptoms sound like Celiac Disease. Including the anemia. Maybe try cutting ALL gluten out for a few weeks and see what happens? I have a friend who is gluten-free and she swears it was almost miraculous how much better she feels now.
best of luck to you!

Congratulations on your surgery date!! My surgery is January 21. In the past I have had cravings for sweets but following a low carb diet has helped me with fighting those sweet temptations. I keep some sugar free candies on hand for when I do get a sweet attack.

I did exactly the same thing! It's almost like you want to eat all you can before the big day. I would just suggest you try to back away from foods high in sugars now because once I had the surgery, I still craved those foods (not that your hungry). It's just a harder habit to break if you don't wing yourself off now. Good Luck to you and Congratulations on your date to a life changing experience!
