TIS TIS eating poorly!
Kimba46 replied to Julieann87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been eating well either. I have been feeling hungry a lot and only four months out.Not eating too much at a time, just not right things. Ate chocolate around Valentine's Day and seem to be craving it now.. -
Thanks for the suggestions. Where do you buy the Torani flavored syrup? I have not seen yet, but many people are using it. Would love to try it in plain Greek yogurt? Also, what are good snacks that will satisfy, if you want something sweet?

I would like to know what people are eating three months out. I don;t think I am getting enough protein and know I need to drink more water, however I don;t feel thirsty and have to force myself. Does anyone else have this problem. I aim for 60 grams protein a day, but some days only get 45-50. Are there any good unflavored protein powders I can mix in soups? Love soup for lunch but not much protein, also love cereal for breakfast (don't want to eat eggs everyday). I found the only cereal with a fair amount of protein is Special K high protein. Please help.

Curious to know how long others are taking to eat. I am really struggling with this currently. I am almost two months out, which isn;t long at all but am having trouble. My NUT says each meal should take 30-45 minutes. I find when I am eating something like scrambled eggs, oatmeal, etc I am not taking nearly that long. Occasionally I will eat too fast and then feel it in my esophagus. Is anyone else out there struggling with this?

I am curious to know if you have to eat really, really slow forever after vertical sleeve surgery. Is there anyone out there that knows? I am trying very hard to eat as slow as possible ( at least 30-45 minutes). It's a struggle sometimes, but my sleeve sure lets me know when I eat too fast or one bite too much. Just wondering if it is the same one or two years out.I'm not saying just shovel it down, but maybe less than 30-45 minutes.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. It is all about food choices. I will stick to everything the NUT suggests What were you able to eat after soft foods ? I can't wait to eat things other than chicken and tuna.
-
Thanks, you are right. I will bring something in. My NUT said when I see her 12 days I will be slowly reintroducing things. I think she said toast, but I will clarify when I see her on 11/16. I am really struggling with this four week soft foods, but I know eventually I will be able to eat other foods. Feel like I am mourning foods I used to eat, I know I need to change my mind set. Any suggestions on how to do this would be much appreciated.

I am a month out today. Nut has me on soft food for another two weeks but I am sick and tired of chicken, tuna, eggs, turkey, and fish. Tol me to wait on beans, but tried with no problem, also had a tiny bit of chili, no issues , ate real slow. When can I try a tiny piece of toast, I really would like to try and see what happens. When did everyone else try? Tomorrow I am at an all day training at work and they are having pizza, could I try a little bit of a topping, no bread. I am scared as I don;t want to get sick.

Thank you to everyone who replied. It is good to know so many people have been in the same boat and that we are all here to support each other. I feel a little better. I know eventually there will be many things I can eat and I won;t have to be on this phase forever.

I am three weeks, two days out and have been feeling a little more depressed. Very happy I lost 20 lbs. so far but can;t wait to eat more normal foods. Is this normal? I wouldn;t say I'm hungry but I have been obsessing a lot about all the foods I can;t have and am wondering if I will ever be able to eat them again. I know a lot of bread isn;t good for you, but I would love at least a piece of whole wheat toast or bagel. My NUT did not tell me when you can begin to introduce breads or any kind of meat. RIght now I am only allowed fish, chicken, turkey, eggs and some mashed potato. SIck of it already. Does it get any easier?. Also having trouble getting 60-80 grams protein, but I am trying. Wondering if I did the right thing having it.

I have started the soft food phase last Friday and my NUT is not allowing much. I can only have chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, and fish, Any suggestions? She does not want me to try any type of beans yet or tomatao aauces. I was hopin gto make some type of chicken chili or something. I have no clue what are safe to eat condiment and spice wise because she wouldn;t say. I am so sick of eating this, I could scream. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Advancing Post Op Diet Too Quickly?
Kimba46 replied to zack515's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Wow, I'm amazed at how there is so much difference in the stages. I just advanced to stage 4 yesterday (soft foods.) I can eat chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, and soft cheese. Also allowed a few saltines. My NUT told me I have to follow this for 4 weeks and absolutely no meat, I envy whoever can eat pot roast. She said no steak for at least 6 months. I recommend sticking to the stages and not cheating, I was very tempted to risk it but after she really lectured me about the importance of not cheating and the complications it can cause, I decided to just deal with it and eat only what was allowed for next four weeks. Good luck, you can do it. -
Are Taking Tums Ok?
Kimba46 replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me it was fine. I called him the other day after I had really bad reflux after eating eggs. I was worried about it because of the calcium chews I am taking and the cacium in Tums. He said no problem and I ended up taking three tums with no issues. He also said Mylanta is good. -
Has Anyone Cheated On There Phases?
Kimba46 replied to Quianna Armstead's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am 10 days out and was wondering if it is too early to try scrambled eggs, even if they are put in blender. I am going crazy from 2 week diet. I am drinking protein shakes, ff/sf puddings, and jello. Is this considered the mushy/pureed or does that come after the two weeks. I am meeting with my nut on the 19th. Has anyone tried scrambled eggs before two weeks. -
What stage is the pureed considered? I am on two week (stage 3). Have been doing the protein drinks, jello, pudding, cottage cheese, and creamy soups. Is the next stage considered the mush/puree stage? Don;t see my nut until 10/19.
